The Ultimate Washington/Pac-12/Oregon Dilemma...
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks

Lubbock is warm and dry, can be windy correct? Heat and humidity aren't as big a factor as the wind, at times. I would love to see Tyler have a solid game, which may indicate Ty has a chance to recover into a decent qb after his experience with the qb destroyer. It will be a battle between two qb's who left their previous programs for a second chance. This game is an awesome opportunity to win on the road, and to get rid of some of the road demons going forward. I do like our early schedule and hope we can use it to excel into the second half where some more challenges occur.

Thinking about you, but also the speed which is coming back to the program. May you have a speedy recovery, going forward, and here is some good old Duck speed. -
The SEC plays less games away from home and less conference games. Both of these features help their cause toward winning a national title The SEC plays New Mexico State, sometimes twice in a year as fodder to their schedules. There are plenty of Nevada's, New Mexico States to fill our schedule if winning a title is our goal. You aren't going to win the playoffs after a tough schedule and lots of travel. A team needs to recover, and be fresh when the bowl season starts. Maybe if making more money is our goal then a 10 game schedule makes sense, but what is our goal? If we want to win the national title then playing a 10 game schedule makes no sense. Pretty sure Larry Scott would be pounding his fist on the table in support of this idea.

My Opinion on Oregon's Future Non-Conference Schedule
Haywarduck replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If we win it will all take care of it self. Get to the title game and the Auburns, Floridas, Michigan States, Texas's will want a shot at Oregon. Without winning we have to travel to Georgia, and play at a supposed neutral site against Georgia. I don't think we need to play against the Georgia, Alabama and LSU programs during the regular season. We just need to beat the next tier teams, that will play a home and home. We need to schedule more home and home, with bigger buyouts. We need to keep building to become elite, not just meat for the elite. Georgia plays 4 games away from home this season. They play an 8 game conference schedule. That is the way you get to the playoffs. We played 6 games away last season, 5 this year, and a 9 game conference schedule. That is what needs to change, get on equal footing. -
I think what is also telling about sc's recruiting is they can't beat out Riley's old team, Oklahoma, in recruiting. He left Oklahoma for what I presume was an ability to recruit, and compete at a higher level at the prestigious sc, right? Riley left Oklahoma to play in the Pac-12, and miss the switch to the SEC Oklahoma is headed too. Instead he is headed to the Big 10, and again having to play some big time programs, with more travel. The important thing about Riley is he tends to be very competitive in conference and then can't win the big games. As a conference you don't want coaches like this. You want coaches who can compete in conference and win the big games. Important fact is Riley won 4 straight conference championships at Oklahoma in the Big 12. Last year in the Pac-12 he came in third, and added added another loss to his bowl record, 1-4. I think sc bought fake gold with Riley, and are chasing the BIG dollars to their detriment. Another huge win by the Ducks at Autzen against the spoiled children is all I want to see as they leave the Pac. Actually I would love to see a couple other programs hang on L on sc this season. I would like to see sc get to a bowl game so Riley can add another loss, and make his bowl record 1-5. I love the cover picture for the story, Oregon rounding the corner against sc. I would say we are pulling away!

Haywarduck replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Week #2, third best coach against the fifth best rated coach according to MA, bring it! Week #8, third best against fourth best. It is kind of cool to see coaches ranked, and will be fantabulous to see more data, can't wait!- 1 reply

Ducks Dump Dawgs 12-7 in Conference Tournament Semi-Final!

Man you would think the dawgs would be good at least playing catch, fetch, but they really are only good at worthless tricks. -
Kenny Dillingham Interview: Expects Top-Five Offense
Haywarduck replied to 47sgs's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It seems ASU is trying to create the magic Bruce Snyder created at ASU. Snyder came to ASU after a both playing, then coaching at Oregon. I wonder if one year at Oregon is enough to create the wizardry they want? It is true, in the past, many of the great coaches have come through the Oregon machine. Will Dillingham just be another quick stop wonder who makes a bunch of money and fails, or will Lanning's tree be more fruitful? In the old days John Madden's just enrolling at Oregon sent him on the way to great success. More recently the success has mainly been about a big contract. I suppose it doesn't matter if he is successful, the Oregon pipeline will continue to fill programs and pockets. I suppose all we should care about is the Oregon magic creates a legend out of Lanning. -

How Much Did Oregon Gain/Lose From the Portal?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hopefully with Gonzo we saw a little of what we will see this year. I also think players saw what Gonzo did by transferring to Oregon and want to replicate this. The only caveat, they need to understand the work it took to make that leap. Charles I echo your enthusiasm with what Lanning has done and raise you one. -

Dennis Dixon went from 14 INT's and 12 TD's in 2006, not great, to 2 INT's and 20 TD's in 2007. I get greatness shows up early, but I have seen many qb's struggle early on, and Ty is still struggling. I wasn't sure I wanted to see Dixon come back in 2007, but what a mistake that would have been. We could all be saying the same thing with Ty, but it is going to take a big step forward, and we need one of them to do it. Next season is wide open and I don't want to see another transfer.

Another note is I hope the Stein offense doesn't look at this period of the game as garbage time. I think each of these young men need to look at this time as a critical moment to compete, and show they can lead the program if, and when needed. Too often in the past OC's, and head coaches have looked at this time as garbage time, nothing important happens other than burning time. Ty has definitely come across as way too casual. I want to see a qb come in at the end of the game and look like they are competing for the starting job. I want to see both play, and both guys look like they want the job this season and next. They should know it is a competition, and an extremely important time to show what they have got. It could be critical time to how our season comes out. An important and evolving question to be answered, but equally important how the OC and Head coach handle it. Somebody may be leading in practice, but how they play against real competition is all important.

Is Bo Nix Worth a 1.5 Million NIL?
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I guess I am a little confused here. NIL allows a player to get paid for endorsements, like DJ Uiagalelei did with Dr. Pepper. It doesn't allow anyone to pay someone for how well they play, or their impact on the field, directly. So I suppose the question we are pondering is about what we think he is worth on the field, but doesn't really answer the question about his NIL value. I suppose we leave that question to Division Street? I think this is a fascinating question and, if I was a parent, or student athlete, it puts Oregon heads and shoulders above other universities. What other NIL group has somebody on it who made an athlete a billionaire? It is estimated Michael Jordon has made close to 2 billion from Nike if we are really counting. This braintrust has not only built the greatest football facilities, and one of the best college athletics programs, they are now going to build the greatest NIL initiative college sports has ever seen. Just like in building facilities it isn't just about the money. There are programs who have been spending big dollars on athletes for a long time, with little to show. It think the big story is how Oregon's Division Street is going to build a NIL juggernaut, and it will be legit. It isn't going to be what Miami is doing, or Texas ATM either. It will be based on NIL, and it will rock college athletics. Back to the question, Nix will make as much as legitimately possible through NIL. This will bring in more athletes, and it will lead Oregon to the next level, along with Coach Lanning! -
50 Million Dollars Paid All-In to Larry Scott
Haywarduck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As far as ROI, Larry would rank well below an above ground pool. We got nothing but a mess, and the conference presidents thought we were getting an Olympic size pool. -

Huskies "Whine" Has Gone Sour About Oregon's Recruiting
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In this day and age it means answers to; good boy, actually initially just tone and volume, then treats, and finally good boy. Also responds to sit, stay, leave it, and of course, wait for it, roll over! Also, almost forgot, if there is an end zone anywhere close, responds to Lay Down! -

I'm glad you guys like this, but if this was a cocktail party, and the discussion turned to anything to do with conference realignment I would be like...... Glad we all have our interests, and I can guarantee you there are things that would do the same, just ask my wife!
