  1. some notes: - OBD still highest ranked 1-loss team, despite tOSU’s loss - Beavs are the ONLY 4-loss team ranked - AZ is 2nd highest ranked 2-loss team (behind only LSU by 1) = serious love for the Pac
  2. My predictions after this week: 1 UM 2 Georgia 3 UW 4 FSU 5 tOSU 6 OBD 7 Tex My predictions after next week: 1 Georgia 2 UM 3 OBD 4 Tex 5 UW 6 FSU 7 tOSU This assumes FSU loses to Louisville. If they don’t, FSU at 3 and the rest move down 1. I just really, really want OBD to play in the Rose Bowl, and bet the football gods (aka networks) do too.
  3. Brilliant This! I never played football, but I played highly competitive soccer. And in one of our last games, we played the national player of the year in the Semis at Regionals. It was my job to never leave her side and never let her get the ball without a fight. By the end of the game, I had a yellow card and she had stopped even trying—we hung out at midfield and chatted. Oh, and we won the game and advanced further than any Oregon team before us. Sorry for the trip down memory lane, but the strategy works.
  4. But tOSU lost by more and in November. Also, Ducks dominated UW except when they didn’t. UM dominated tOSU wire to wire. Also, tOSU might well be the best 1-loss team today. But when the buck-eyes are eating queso next week, OBD will be beating the #3 team.
  5. Dontae Manning: Next Man Up TFW the backup to your 5-star frosh is a 5-star sophomore. I love how Manning describes how he has improved his technique and how he supports Florence.
  6. I think it would be fair to rank tOSU higher than the ducks but below the Fuskies this week. But next Friday, OBD will be dismantling the #3 team while tOSU will be sitting on their thumbs. The committee would surely take a 1-loss conf champ over a 1-loss loser. Also, we know the committee has looked more favorably at losses at the beginning of the season compared to November.
  7. Yeah—the rain is why Martinez ran for 90 more yards on the Fuskies than he did against OBD.
  8. Uiagelelei sacks Uiagelelei for the win was my stretch goal.
  9. I love the announcer in ref to OBD, “They got 2 RBs, 2 TEs, 2 WRs, they got 2 of everything—G D Noah’s Ark!”
  10. My Duck-in-law’s prediction: 48-27 Ducks My prediction: 56-17 Ducks 3 turnovers 3 sacks 404 yds passing
  11. I have been cheering for the Fuskies way too much this year. Can’t wait to be in the B1G.
  12. @Charles Fischer, We need a option in the reaction icons. I agree with all prior comments. Also, I am grateful the experts are validating my own and this forum’s observations. OBD look elite in every phase (except field goal kicking). The talent and depth are unmistakable. The analytics are OFF THE CHARTS. This is the first time ever (since I started paying attention in ‘94) that we are built like a Natty team. In ‘01, ‘10, and ‘14 we won with dazzling plays and players, epic comebacks, and the element of surprise. (Don’t get me started on Helf’s trick plays in the red zone.) In ‘23 we are winning with talent, execution, strength, and strategy. DL harps on putting your talent on tape. “Watch the tape,” he preaches. And the pundits are definitely watching the tape, impressed.
  13. These late season rankings drive me crazy. Does anyone really think Liberty could beat UCLA, U$C, or Utah? Hell, Cal would beat Liberty. And UM above tOSU, when tOSU has an extra top-25 win is just dumb. In fact, UM has only played 1 top-25 team, Penn St, which looks terrible and is only ranked bc it has also played no one (except tOSU). Sure UM has #1 scoring D, but they’ve only played a single top-25 O—#15 PSU. OBD have the #10 scoring D after facing 2 top-10 offenses. As much as I love the PAC, I cannot wait to dominate the B1G and finally prove those Mid-West chauvinists wrong.
  14. This is excellent news! I thought it was all based on the final rankings. It actually makes more sense to use the rankings at the time of the game bc injuries, etc can change a team dramatically from week to week. The Buffs at 100% were a heck of a lot better than they are now.
  15. If we’re in a position to rest starters in any of our remaining games, DL would be smart to do it. Not only is the committee sophisticated enough to understand garbage time, but they could see it as a flex move. And obviously, it puts OBD in the best position to win the next game. The only people who would be convinced by stat-padding are the SEC and B1G pundits who just look at the final scores.
  16. DL from yesterday’s presser: “We change quite a bit, you know, each week, and those guys have done a good job of executing whatever we've asked them to do with good talent.” This has been so impressive and fun to watch. The coaches have the schemes and the players have the smarts and talent to execute fresh strategies every week. This is the exact opposite of Mari-no-O, who was so predictable that he deserved to be booed.
  17. You aren’t wrong. But the 10 “bailers” were asleep at the wheel. As someone who has gone through a divorce, I appreciate “cutting our losses” and extricating ourselves gracefully from the relationship.
  18. I understand why we hate Canzano and his framing of the story, but the PAC-2 aren’t the villains here. The PAC-2 are the only remaining voting members of the league. The other schools lost their voting rights as soon as they declared they were leaving. End of story. The PAC-2 have the contractual authority to do whatever they want with the league’s assets. This isn’t stealing—it’s the result of a contract that everyone agreed to. If the other 10 members wanted to have a say in the remaining assets, they should have changed the rules before bailing. It’s not the PAC-2’s fault if the other schools didn’t understand the consequences. The PAC-2’s assets are a parting gift. As an aside, my grandfather was once the owner of the largest construction company in Canada. When he went to retire, he sold his company to one of his board members. But before the sale went through, the board member held a vote to make my grandfather’s shares worthless. It worked. My grandfather lost everything. As depressing as it may seem, dem’s da rulez.
  19. This is such a classic U$C move. They offer a big-time DC who they think beat them the worst over the last 2 years. And they think that bc they are U$C, that big-time DC would obviously make a lateral move for fame and money bc all anyone cares about is fame and money, right? I bet a million bucks they offer ND’s DC when Scalley declines. There is no creativity. There’s no identity. Just laziness. DL has hired a bunch of “unknowns” who are working out splendidly.
  20. Actually, it was Daniels who couldn’t cut it in the Pac and left for the SEC.
  21. I am partial to the “Uncivil War” because it’s a more accurate adjective.
