  1. All eyes in FBS will be on Friday’s Uncivil War and then on the P12 championship. Bo will have all the stage he needs to show voters his dominance. The “Southern Vote” will have every reason to get on the Alabama boy’s hype train. All Bo has to do is the same thing he’s been doing week in and week out this season. And… throwback to Mariota’s final Civil War, which required his last minute heroics to beat Sean Mannion’s Beavs in order to make it to the P12 championship to avenge our only loss, to AZ. Mariota earned the Heisman and a CFP invite that year, and OBD look waaaaaaay more dominant this year.
  2. . He’ll just have to get the record against FSU in the Rose Bowl instead.
  3. You could get a similar idea by dividing by the number of snaps. You have to assume that every snap these Heisman hopefuls play is meaningful.
  4. My thoughts exactly. The ref who threw the flag was BEHIND TF, so all the ref saw was the defender falling down and assumed it was a PI. Terrible call.
  5. Can we just get an amen that we’re not doing divisions anymore?! As I mentioned in a previous thread, it would be UW vs AZ in the champ, and OBD would be SOL.
  6. As much as I was cheering for the Beavs, the game could not have turned out better for OBD.
  7. We can’t control our opponents. But we are thrashing the analytics even against inferior opponents. And is ASU actually inferior to Northern Tennessee?
  8. You love to see Chip beating Riley with authority.
  9. Ducks win 56 - 0 4 TOs 6 sacks 475 passing yards Hey, if Fresno State can hold the Devils scoreless, so can OBD.
  10. From Addicted to Quack: ”However, when examining their playtype defensive success rates, there’s a big spike in effectiveness at a certain play, which happens to be the most common rushing play in the Pac-12: simple inside zone. That’s because the best defensive players they have are the big tackles Fite and Mallory, and opposing lines just can’t move them when zone blocking, even with combos, and the light but aggressive linebackers can quickly knife in while the OL are occupied with those combo blocks and get TFLs.” Yep, it’s the one defensive play ASU is good at.
  11. This makes sense if you’re changing to a lower division. OBD can’t suddenly switch to FCS and win all the championships. It makes zero sense if you’re leveling up.
  12. Dilly is (a tiny bit) younger than Stein, and Dilly is obviously “ready” for an HC job after one year with OBD. If Stein gets an HC job next year, more power to him. I trust DL to evaluate and attract excellent coaches.
  13. Vegas is pretty high on Nix as well. Nix Remains Heisman Favorite
  14. The CFP committee has shown already that it thinks OBD are better than TX—the AL win is already baked into their rankings. OBD will have to beat 2 top-10 teams to win the Pac. There isn’t even another top-10 team in the B12 for TX to play, let alone beat.
  15. We beat UCLA at the Rose Bowl a couple years ago wearing the eggshells. The only unis I dislike more than the eggshells are the hot pink unis. I support the cause, but the hot pink is distracting. Oh, but the absolute worst unis were the orange socks. If you’re going to dress like a cartoon character, you better win, and we got smoked that game.
  16. More evidence from On3.com: “Another dominant performance by the DL, led by Dorlus and company. Dorlus was again unblockable against SC, causing havoc in the interior all game long. You’ve seen multiple NFL scouts note the dominance of the entire line, specifically the depth and waves in which the rush is coming.”
  17. From DL’s presser today: Q: How much buy-in did you have to get from your defensive line to rotate this often and have players not gain maybe as much attention? Lanning: "I disagree. You're talking about them right now, right? People are talking about what these guys are doing. It's not really about production. It's never really about production. You got to look at the first round of the draft, you're gonna see seven edge guys drafted, and tell me, how many of those guys actually have double-digit sacks? I think there was one last year in Will Anderson. It's not about production, it's about execution. It's about the film you put on tape. Our guys realize that. What a brilliant pitch! Be a Duck and learn your craft, prepare for the NFL, and win without destroying your body. Of course this only works if you’re actually witnessing skill and development on the field, which we’re seeing in spades. And DL and crew can point to how few injuries we’ve suffered this year as a major differentiator. As a former athlete, this is exactly how I wanted to work—compete against the best in practice and win against the best in games. The “backups” when they’re fresh should be better than the “starters” when they’re tired. Everyone gets to execute at the highest level, and no one cares about individual stats.
  18. “On the first play of the fourth quarter, Oregon scored a touchdown to expand its lead to 22 points, which is beyond the cutoff most advanced statistical systems use for defining a game as no longer competitive with that little time remaining. Since I watch film I can use more custom-tailored criteria for garbage time and otherwise non-representative play, but in this case that’s the point I used as well.”
  19. Riley’s house is in Palos Verdes, which is still an hour+ commute most of the time, but not as bad as Malibu to U$C. But Palos Verdes is even more uptight and exclusive than Malibu. I guarantee Riley has never hosted his players there.
  20. I have never been a Graves fan, even during the Ionescu years. Graves is a problem, and it was Campbell who was the glue during Graves’ championship tenure. Campbell is married to the daughter of one of Oregon’s greatest girls’ HS bball coaches EVER, Oregon City’s Brad Smith. I played with her and for her dad on state select teams, and they were amazing!! Can we pleeeeeeease bring Campbell back to replace Graves? OBD would be in the Final four in 2 yrs.
