I miss Mario the bottom line is we’ve lost too much talent to seriously compete next season. 58th in the country in recruiting rankings is not going to cut it. get ready for 7-5 or 8-4. Had Mario stayed we would have had another 10 win season in 2022 with a chance to win a natty in 2023.

I give the hire an A- Pretty solid lots of upside id rather probably have had Lane and that’s about it. Overall I’m a pretty happy duck fan tonight. What is your letter grade for this hire?

Yep that would have been a good hire too. problem with that is you couldn’t hire him until almost mid January and that would devastate our 2022 recruiting class. also there is no guarantee he’d even want to come here, Midwest guys like to stay home.

I couldn’t agree more it’s a great hire. it’s definitely riskier because he has never been a head coach, but I’d rather swing for a home run than slap at the ball for a single which is exactly what hiring chip or Wilcox would be. there should be enough left over if you hire lanning to get a top flight OC like joe Brady. I have family down south in sec land and they say Lanning is very highly regarded down there. They say if we get him we got a steal!

If true, this is really disappointing and a down grade for sure. This is why I was telling all the MC haters “be careful what you wish for” a month or so ago. We are losing blue chip recruits left and right. Chip has done next to nothing at UCLA. Had MC stayed I firmly believe we would have been in the playoff in the 2023 season. Now we will be 8-4.

He’s improved a ton since then. I wouldn’t hold that against him. Lane has been willing to adapt and grow his offense over the years unlike a certain coach with the initials MC

Oregon could have their coach almost signed and that coach is probably bringing in his own staff. So bmac knows he won’t have a job at Oregon next season. he is a great recruiter at the wr position I wish him the best.

This is very interesting and has me optimistic about the Oregon program for the first time since the first Utah debacle. If we are in a position to turn down Lane Kiffin, we must have a big fish on the line, that’ll rock the pac-12
