After watching last night's overtime game Auburn vs Alabama, I got to thinking. The game came down to alternating 2 point conversions, this is a cheap way to end a great game, and nothing more than penalty kicks in soccer. The nfl has a little bit better overtime rules, but it is far from perfect as well. Here is my Solution. 1) 1 15 minute period in regular season, after that would be a tie, Playoffs and championship games would go until there is a winner. 2) Sudden Death, first score of any kind wins. Here is the big changes 3) No coin flip 4) The team that gets possession of the ball first would be determined by a blind bid. 5) Both head coaches would submit a blind bid of a yard line, in half yard increments. 6) The team with the yard line bid closest to their own goal line would get the ball first. 7) If both coaches bid for the same yard line the Away team would get the ball first. I believe this would add a ton of drama and strategy to the game. Imagine putting in a bid of your own 1 yard line and having to get into field goal range to win. But a holding in the end zone or a safety would end the game for the defense. There would also be a lot of second guessing if a coach was too conservative and picks his own 20 the other team picks their own 15 and goes down and scores. I think this solution is fair and is more like real football and way better than 2 point conversions. I think it would add a ton of drama. What do you guys think?

Our playoff dreams died last night, when Stanford got rolled by Notre Dame. Had Stanford won and the chaos happened that you listed above, we would’ve been in.
-
The Ducks can still make the playoffs. We would need Cincinnati to lose next week Michigan to lose Baylor to win big 12 championship and of corse we’d have to beat the utes convincingly Lets go Stanford ruin Notre Dame’s season!!! I believe in miracles!!

Not great at all not a peep about Mario wanting to stay at Oregon Pretty sure if he was staying we would have heard details on a contract extension by now. Also we have had 3 de commits in the last month on the recruiting trail. A week or two from now, we could be trying to keep our recruiting class from falling apart and looking for a B list coach. If he does leave it’s Chris Peterson or bust! On the bright side if Mario does stay he is here for the long haul, I can’t imagine another off season with as many premium coaching positions available until Saban retires. -
If I were Mario I’d leave for Florida for these reasons; 1) Money, there is no way Oregon will pay 9-10 million a year. The gators won’t blink an eye at that number 2) Recruiting, with as good as a recruiter as MARIO is imagine what he could do in Gainesville, top 3 classes would be the norm. 3) COVID rules, the crowds at Autzen haven’t been as good this year because of these rules and the pac12 pretty much lost a season last year compared to the sec. 4) Booing, I think the booing earlier this year really got to him and made him question his loyalty to the Ducks. 5) Multiple top tier jobs open at once, Mario can drive up his price! I hope he stays, but my gut says he’s gone after the civil war.

Yes you are correct, Mario wins because he has more talent, not because he his great on gameday or scheming. But he is the reason we have all this talent. (remember Scott Frost saying you can't get great players to Eugene.) Mario supporters like myself will argue this point, but Mario detractors like yourself will make valid points about player development and clock management. It's kind of like debating what came first the chicken or the egg.

Agree, It'll always be the Civil War to me.

2019 under Mario 12-2 pac-12 tile and a rose bowl win 2020 under Mario pac-12 title and a fiesta bowl loss 2021 under Mario 9-2 leading the north with a chance at the Rose Bowl and ranked top 15 in the nation We are far from “there”
-
If Mario stays we keep bringing in top talent. We give our young qb valuable experience in 2022 and probably win 9-10 games. 2023 we would have a legitimate shot at the natty If he leaves for Florida LSU or usc get ready for a lot of Sun Bowls.
-
The problem with this logic is the new transfer rules… If Mario leaves, so does a lot of our top talent and about half of this year’s incoming recruiting class. so yes we would probably win 6 or 7 games next year.
-
Time will never run out and it shouldn’t run out as long as we are contending for ( and winning) pac-12 titles and recruiting at a top 10 level nationally. If anything Mario needs a raise to keep him from going to LSU or usc Oregon without Mario =s multiple.500 seasons

Theory on why MC sticks with AB.
Southwest Duck replied to EveryDayGreen's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great post!! I’ll add one more We were 9-1 and ranked 3 rd in the nation. There is absolutely no way you make a qb change when you are winning. We still have a chance to 3peat as pac12 champs, so AB will be our qb for rest of season. -
Yep Here’s a link explaining Ducks have to win next week. https://www.oregonlive.com/collegefootball/2021/11/who-will-win-the-pac-12-north-here-are-the-scenarios-for-oregon-ducks-oregon-state-beavers-and-washington-state.html

Utah Game Score Prediction Contest Winner is...

Congratulations CJ!!!! -
This is a bummer The radio crew says Devon Williams Hutson and Thornton are working with the first team. https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/2021/11/live-updates-no-3-oregon-ducks-vs-no-23-utah-utes.html
-
Unless Alabama gets upset by Arkansas.
-
This game comes down to AB and Hutson. The Utes will put their best CB on Devon Williams, Redd will be in the slot. This leaves Hutson one on one with a 3rd string CB. Can he and Ab makes something happen? This could have been a big game for JJ3 or Pittman in that spot.
