  1. They are calling it the "Lanning Rule", what they are missing is "LANNING RULES"!!!
  2. So, the change will give the Offense the choice of taking the penalty and resetting the clock IF, the 12th player wasn't running off the field. NCAA issues interpretation to restore time on 12-man penalty - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM The NCAA is closing the loophole used by Oregon to shave time off the game clock at the end of Saturday's win over Ohio State, when the Ducks intentionally used 12 players on defense. What is to stop a team from placing a 12th player on the field and then having an "Opps" moment and having that player run/jog off?
  3. Mark Ingram: “I’ve played a lot of football, like 12 years in the league, three years in college, I played for some great Hall of Fame coaches. And we worked situation after situation after situation. You have a period of situations. Every day after practice, you work on a situation. [I don’t] think that we ever worked that situation. For Dan Lanning to be able to intentionally have that situation ready and his players prepared for it, that’s chess and not checkers.” Urban Meyer, still wowed by Lanning’s preparation and risk taking this past weekend, made a declaration. “If that’s true, then for 38 years of my career, I’ve been playing checkers. I’ve never done that. I never even — I’ll be honest, that’s never even crossed my mind.” Meyer later added: “They are playing chess, because that is a hell of a staff.” Ron Stone then chimed in: “They might be playing a game that hasn’t even been invented yet.”
  4. In their last five games against ranked teams, osu hasn’t forced a punt in the fourth quarter at all.
  5. As always, good points Charles and everyone else. In addition, we now need to rely upon our coaches to make adjustments to counter whatever adjustments ohio st makes if there is a rematch. Chess not checkers.
  6. It seems cooler heads are prevailing on the osu boards as some are saying it was within the rules and had it been reversed, they would be singing the praises of Day. How is it different in Lanning’s intentional use of a penalty to take time off the click vs Chip using a hurry up offense to stop a review that may have changed a possession? As we know, both are legal. Is one more or less ethical than the other? Or, how about the receiver who claims to have made that diving catch when they know the ball hit the ground, but they try and hide that from the refs?

  10. Absolutely, can you imagine if instead of deflecting the ball on the play, there had been an interception. It would not have counted.

  12. Darren, I'm going to disagree about the 4th down on the 2. 1) Gabriel, like Bo last year missed an open receiver. 2) We then held osu and they had to punt, after which we went down and scored a TD. So, we eventually got the TD vs a FG. 3) If we kick the FG, then all the rest of the game is different. Just like the non int in the 1st quarter. Who knows what happens after that if we are awarded the ball. 4) Just glad we did kick the FG in the 4th.
  13. Answer $$$$. But, unless you expand the playoff so that if you lose those games it doesn't count as a loss, NO THANKS.
