Where the REST of the Pac is Going...
What happens to Cal and Stanford? It has appeared to me for years that the administrations, students and alumni at both universities do not care about football. Maybe they drop the sport. While I would love for Oregon State and Washington State to join us in the B1G, that is not likely. I sure hope they both get into the BIG 12.

Apple Emerging as Media Partner for Pac-12 - Primarily Streaming
Apple is the largest publicly traded company in the world. Apple TV is just a tiny part of that but do you think the Apple TV executives intend to stay small? Not a chance. Apple TV in 4-5 years will be a monster IMHO and our DUCKS will have great exposure. I have Apple TV now and the content and 4K streaming quality are excellent. I say bring it on!

Colorado Buffaloes Stampede
Time to pile on. Here is the latest from Bleacher Report. It is rumored that Utah, Arizona and Arizona State could be the next to leave.

Colorado Buffaloes Stampede
This is really looking bad now. With CU leaving and a rumor of another team leaving, the iffy media deal definitely just got worse to non-existent. My cup is half empty. I think this is the end of the PAC.

Know the Schedule: Next Week a Busy One for Football
Thanks for posting this, a fun read. Of course the opener against Portland State is Saturday, September 2 not September 5 as stated in the article. GO DUCKS! 38 days to kickoff!

AIR - A Story of Greatness
I did not see a dedicated thread for this movie. Just streamed it from Amazon Prime. Quite an excellent movie. Phil Knight played by Ben Affleck. Sonny Vaccaro played by Matt Damon. Viola Davis playing Michael Jordans mother is powerful. Capturing Michael Jordan as a Nike client put Nike over the top. You of course know the end result but the movie is still suspenseful. I really enjoyed this and it was historically nice to see photo's of Steve Prefontaine on the wall in the Nike Headquarters.

Good Faith Questions About STREAMING
I posted something about this a few months ago. I read a good article that said that streaming games last year typically were running around 45 seconds to one minute behind the actual action on the field. This keeps bugging me knowing the game might be over while I am watching the final play. Anyone else?

QUAAACK! No. 3 OT JacQawn McRoy Is A Duck
Thinking back to high school. Can you imagine having to block this guy? Welcome Mr. McRoy!

Texas Tech - Don't Nap on this B-12 Sleeper
Thank you Jon, it is indeed Romeo and Juliet tonight. Last night was Twelfth Night. I wish I could understand Elizabethan English a bit better.

Texas Tech - Don't Nap on this B-12 Sleeper
Yesterday evening at dinner in Ashland prior to getting our fill of Shakespeare, we are sitting next to a young man with his young son and they are both decked out in Texas Tech jackets and hats. We had a friendly discussion but I certainly did not wish him well on September 9th! I will say that he was knowledgeable and confident about their chances.

Oregon Only Worth about $3 million per Game

Looks Like Mich St's ATM Just Got Shutdown
I wonder if the real issue here is the source of family money was United Wholesale Mortgage. The residential mortgage business has slowed dramatically, the commercial mortgage business has stopped. The well might be empty.

Who Do YOU Play at Garbage Time? Austin Novosad or Ty Thompson?
I trust the coaches with this decision as I do with every other decision. My guess is that TT will get his chance to prove himself in games 1 & 2 and he knows that. The pressure is on.

FishDuck Take: Oregon Spring Game Concerns and Confidence
Bo Nix Ty Thompson Austin Novosad Marcus Sanders That is the line up at QB and my guess is that at this time we will not get anyone from the transfer portal. If they are transferring, they want to start and that is not going to happen. In Coach Lannings eyes, TT is the #2 QB and I saw enough potential Saturday (for the first time) for me to be encouraged by his play. He seemed to be more comfortable the longer he was in the game. Also hoping that Bo does less running this year and stays healthy! GO DUCKS! 124 days to kickoff! Thanks Charles for opening up a super discussion.

Spring Game Thoughts?
It seems we have a pretty good backup Quarterback much to my relief. Now we see who hits the Transfer Portal next week.
-
Is Marcus Broken Or Is This An Opportunity?
Marcus is a very talented QB who could end up being a career backup QB which is still a very lucrative gig. Best wishes to a great guy.

Pac-12 Football: In George We Trust
I like the idea of Oregon tied in with Apple. Incredible company who will find the way to expand the subscriber base for Pac 12 sports. Could incredible Apple create a tie in with incredible Nike and create something really desirable? One can wish. I stream Apple at home and the content is excellent as well as the quality. More and more 4K product is being delivered but you will have to have high speed streaming to enjoy 4K. Thank you Darren, good food for thought.

Will Stein: Oregon’s New OC and Miracle-Maker?
Thanks for the article Charles. It gives one hope. I see the spring game is set for April 29 which means spring practice should start sometime in March. Anyone have a firm date? BTW lower back problems are no joke. I assume you have a good orthopedic doctor. Has he looked at your hips? I could barely walk last year because of a right knee problem. It turns out that I needed a new right hip which cleared up the right knee problem.

THE PAC-16 - Time to Go to a 'Super Conference?'
Real good article Jon. Seems smart to me. I hope George K is listening because it seems our conference is struggling.

The Case For SMU: Do YOU Buy It?
What is in the past should live in the past. We are here and now. If it takes adding SDSU plus SMU to the fold to make the Pac 12 whole, then I am for it. Probably a crazy idea but BYU would be a good fit. Any chance of ripping them out of the Big 12?

Streaming Games: Rough Waters or Gently Down the Stream?
Check out todays Wall Street Journal. I would post it but you need a subscription to read it. "Super Bowl Spoilers: Streaming and Live TV are out of Sync". It seems that streaming can be as much as one minute behind the live broadcast. Last years Super Bowl in streaming mode was running 20 seconds behind live TV. "The action can be off by up to a minute explaining why the neighbors are cheering". That will be an issue.

Streaming Games: Rough Waters or Gently Down the Stream?
Streaming is the future and it is here now. If you choose to avoid it, you will be left behind and this is not just in relation to college football. A new TV is the answer to most of the problems that are being discussed here. The streaming apps are built into the newer TV's. Plus there are huge benefits to newer TV's. They will come in 4K plus Ultra High Def capability. More and more programs are being released to TV in these high end formats. Let's take a non football example. Do you want to watch Maverick Top Gun at home? Well you can stream it in 4K and you do not want to watch it in anything less than 4K. Yes there is a risk to going to streaming but more and more people are getting on board. Do you know how Amazon made money the first year of showing the NFL on Thursday nights? They made another small fortune because to get the broadcast, millions signed up for Amazon Prime which of course is a portal to the entire Amazon empire. At times, I can be a luddite myself but this is one change in our viewing experience that one cannot afford to be left behind.

USC Fans Are....a Little Salty Over Pleasant
In another life, a long time ago, I had to choose between USC and Oregon. Easy decision for me. I played JUCO basketball and walked on at The University of Oregon. Proud to say I stuck with the team for ...............90 minutes. Oh well.

Terrible Field Last Night
Agreed the field was in rough shape. My concern, however was the actual stadium hosting a football game. It did not lay out well for the fans. The sidelines were way removed from the field. I would not buy a ticket for that situation. We of course, watching TV get a great picture regardless. I think the field condition had something to do with Cam almost missing the extra point. His run up to the attempt was across awful turf.

We've Gone From Risk Adverse Mario To Lanning's High-Wire Act Without A Net
If Coach Lanning had kicked a field goal in the first quarter, we would be celebrating right now.
