It seems we have a pretty good backup Quarterback much to my relief. Now we see who hits the Transfer Portal next week.

Is Marcus Broken Or Is This An Opportunity?
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Haywarduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Marcus is a very talented QB who could end up being a career backup QB which is still a very lucrative gig. Best wishes to a great guy. -
Pac-12 Football: In George We Trust
Santa Rosa Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I like the idea of Oregon tied in with Apple. Incredible company who will find the way to expand the subscriber base for Pac 12 sports. Could incredible Apple create a tie in with incredible Nike and create something really desirable? One can wish. I stream Apple at home and the content is excellent as well as the quality. More and more 4K product is being delivered but you will have to have high speed streaming to enjoy 4K. Thank you Darren, good food for thought. -
Will Stein: Oregon’s New OC and Miracle-Maker?
Santa Rosa Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks for the article Charles. It gives one hope. I see the spring game is set for April 29 which means spring practice should start sometime in March. Anyone have a firm date? BTW lower back problems are no joke. I assume you have a good orthopedic doctor. Has he looked at your hips? I could barely walk last year because of a right knee problem. It turns out that I needed a new right hip which cleared up the right knee problem. -
THE PAC-16 - Time to Go to a 'Super Conference?'
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Real good article Jon. Seems smart to me. I hope George K is listening because it seems our conference is struggling. -
The Case For SMU: Do YOU Buy It?
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What is in the past should live in the past. We are here and now. If it takes adding SDSU plus SMU to the fold to make the Pac 12 whole, then I am for it. Probably a crazy idea but BYU would be a good fit. Any chance of ripping them out of the Big 12? -
Streaming Games: Rough Waters or Gently Down the Stream?
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Check out todays Wall Street Journal. I would post it but you need a subscription to read it. "Super Bowl Spoilers: Streaming and Live TV are out of Sync". It seems that streaming can be as much as one minute behind the live broadcast. Last years Super Bowl in streaming mode was running 20 seconds behind live TV. "The action can be off by up to a minute explaining why the neighbors are cheering". That will be an issue. -
Streaming Games: Rough Waters or Gently Down the Stream?
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Streaming is the future and it is here now. If you choose to avoid it, you will be left behind and this is not just in relation to college football. A new TV is the answer to most of the problems that are being discussed here. The streaming apps are built into the newer TV's. Plus there are huge benefits to newer TV's. They will come in 4K plus Ultra High Def capability. More and more programs are being released to TV in these high end formats. Let's take a non football example. Do you want to watch Maverick Top Gun at home? Well you can stream it in 4K and you do not want to watch it in anything less than 4K. Yes there is a risk to going to streaming but more and more people are getting on board. Do you know how Amazon made money the first year of showing the NFL on Thursday nights? They made another small fortune because to get the broadcast, millions signed up for Amazon Prime which of course is a portal to the entire Amazon empire. At times, I can be a luddite myself but this is one change in our viewing experience that one cannot afford to be left behind. -
USC Fans Are....a Little Salty Over Pleasant
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In another life, a long time ago, I had to choose between USC and Oregon. Easy decision for me. I played JUCO basketball and walked on at The University of Oregon. Proud to say I stuck with the team for ...............90 minutes. Oh well. -
Agreed the field was in rough shape. My concern, however was the actual stadium hosting a football game. It did not lay out well for the fans. The sidelines were way removed from the field. I would not buy a ticket for that situation. We of course, watching TV get a great picture regardless. I think the field condition had something to do with Cam almost missing the extra point. His run up to the attempt was across awful turf.

Is This the Beginning of the End For a Game So Many Love?
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
No, the beginning of the end was the creation of the transfer portal. The second beginning of the end was NIL with no guidelines. This latest Big 10 vs SEC super conference creations is the final nail in the coffin. The traditions are going away. The only way for a university to recruit 4 & 5 star players will be if they are in a super power conference. The old days of finding young men who can be coached up are gone. As soon as you coach them up, they will be gone via NIL. Now if the politicians get involved, then it is all over for Oregon. If Oregon is somehow tied to being in the same conference with Oregon State, the Pac 10 will be on the fringes and whither away. Sorry, my cup is half empty today. -
George Kliavkoff is now Working AGAINST Oregon

Have we heard anything from Rob Mullens or Dan Lanning? -
College Football is All About the Money...."I'm Out."
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I feel lousy about this. I bet this will negatively impact our recruiting from this day forward. Expect decommitments. -
Two Potential Pac-12 Trap Games For the Ducks
Santa Rosa Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thank you Darren, always good food for discussion. My concerns are way before Pac 12 play. Georgia obviously but I doubt that I am the only one concerned about EWU and BYU. Maybe my cup this week is half empty. This is one tough pre-season schedule! -
Axel, USC has in fact retired OJ Simpsons jersey #32. Now there is a truly despicable character.

A bit of ancient history here. Hugh McElhenny was a top running back for University of Washington and starred for the San Francisco 49'rs throughout the 1950's. The joke of the day was that he took a pay cut leaving Washington and going to the 49'rs. In 2004 he confirmed in an interview that it was true. The niners had a backfield of YA Tittle handing off the ball to Hugh, Joe Perry and John Henry Johnson. Rest in Peace Hugh.

How Much DUCK Gear Do You Have?
Santa Rosa Duck replied to Santa Rosa Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hey Log Haulin, you have reminded me of the following: 3 coffee mugs 1 Phil Knight bobble head -
Yes, I did the inventory. T-Shirts - 12 Hats - 3 Jacket - 1 Dog Collar for Cosmo - 2 Night Gown - 1 I bought an Oregon T-shirt in XL Tall. It was so big that it became a Night Gown for my wife. License Plate - 1 My GMC Yukon has California plates that read AUTZEN1. I often have people flash me the "O".
