  1. I try to eliminate irritable noise in my life. Therefore, I stopped listening to Canzano long ago. Financially, we are definitely better off. The BIG is viewed as more valuable by the media(population based reasoning). Then in our inaugural year the Ducks win 8 conference titles. Football is the main source of revenue for all of our sports programs. Having successful collegiate sports programs benefits the University, but also businesses in the State of Oregon. Money is one way to measure success. Nostalgia doesn’t pay the bills. Oregon hit a home run by being in the position to be invited to a wealthier conference.
  2. Leaning at the finish line. So much better than dropping the ball 1 yard short of the goal line….lol
  3. I was thinking the same thing. Folding chairs vs. the comfy theater seating. Coaches sat around a basic conference table as well.
  4. Any coach that wants to move into the top echelons of college football has to consistently have the NIL money to consistently recruit in the top five to ten, and create an environment where top transfers want to play. Texas is a good example of how to spend money, but is Sarkisian the right guy? Huge NIL payroll and currently ranked just inside the top 25 can’t be endearing him to the big money boosters. With the amount coaches are paid, and the huge investment in players, winning 9 to 10 games is not enough to maintain job security. Especially when boosters expect their investment in coaching salaries, and NIL to have immediate returns. Welcome to a strange new monopoly game. Where the boosters buy coaches, and players, but do not own the product. Good luck.
  5. 12:30 kickoffs are great. 4pm means that I drive 2.5 hours in the dark with impatient fans heading to Portland that may have been drinking a good part of the day. If it is raining just add another level of PITA to the drive.
  6. High expectations brings disappointment after any loss. Been to this rodeo a few times. Take whatever disappointment you felt, multiply by 10, and that is the disappointment of the players and coaches after that loss. Most of us were prepared for this team to have a 5 -1 record. We just took a different path. Time to lace up, strap on the pads, and take it out on the next opponent.
  7. I definitely see an upgrade to suites, restrooms, and concessions on the north side. Construction costs to add significant seating would be expensive. $90 million was spent on the last expansion in 2002, adding around 12,000 seats. Getting the money and approval for further improvements will take awhile. All season ticket holders on the north side would be thrilled with just better restrooms.
  8. All I know is that the “blue blood” programs don’t really want to play us at Autzen.
  9. Dropping a sure touchdown before goal line certainly makes the highlight reels for the wrong reasons. The beauty of it is that there will always be fans that love the mistake.
  10. Streaming live content is here to stay. Streaming live content probably needs around 30 to 50 mbps download speed to avoid constant buffering issues. The more devices you have connected, the higher the need to upgrade your signal strength to be able to stream content without problems. Google has an internet speed test readily available. Just search for internet speed test and try it.
  11. LaMichael was on the team with Blount in 2009, but Blount ended up being suspended after the Boise game. Not much thunder and lightning in 2009.
  12. Equity with an expira Cost of the transaction is an important consideration. There are other “costs” that need to be considered. One example is the non-profit status of Athletic Conferences, and Athletic Departments that is already under scrutiny. A multi-billion dollar transaction is quite visible, and will be opposed by people outside of the conference. The tax exempt status of college athletics departments is hitched to the idea that the main mission of a University is education. The commercialization of college sports with literally billions involved really muddies those waters. I am all for growth, just saying other costs are in play.
  13. lol…bettors like to talk about winning. Moderation is the difference between vice, and fun.
  14. Must be the weed. The state ranks very “high” in pot consumption per capita.
  15. I honestly feel sorry for their players, but not so much their fans.
  16. Traveling to different time zones isn’t that easy. Ducks are time travel warriors.
  17. Using assets (ability to generate income), and creating a security with very little liquidity creates the need for the Private Equity Firm to secure a favorable deal. Private Equity will need to generate a return on investment that pays for their internal management fees (1.5 to as high as 2.5% is common), and also a high enough return to offset the liquidity risk to investors. The security would need to pay investors a higher return than investment grade bonds (AAA to BBB ratings). Bonds pay interest and return principal upon maturity, and have a very active market to sell when needed. I would simply question what is the underlying motive for entering into a deal like this when you will be paying higher than normal market rates.
  18. Bye week means golf, a couple cocktails, and hopefully buying lunch for my golf buddies, with their money.
  19. The video crew compiles a lot of great content. Love all the games you mention. One of my favorite scenes from the series is from the Texas Tech game. Bassa’s interception of Shough in slow motion, accompanied with the country song “Silver Wings”, our sideline erupting, and then the home crowds reaction. Perfection.
  20. You never know what parameters are handed down to the editors of these videos. If we have to play these guys again we don’t need to hand them fuel, and matches, to light a fire. Personally, I thought it was solid content. It provides an inside look at the prep for the game. Most fans do not have access to practice, or meetings. DL stated in meeting, we will outrush this team when showing last years stats…great content. Standing in tunnel…Crowd…WE ARE…DL responds…we are about to get our butt kicked is what they are about to say…love DL. Intro music could have been better, but no additional theatrics really needed. They showed the pure raw emotions from players, and coaches after a hard fought battle. That is the main reason football is such a great game to play, and watch.
  21. KB, talking to Dakorien Moore during pregame warm up (25:25)…”These are the types of games where legends are born, go be legendary”. Dakorien’s dead serious response…..”This is what I came for” Such Great Content.
