  1. Chip Kelly did a lot for Oregon, and I never felt compelled to root for anything he did after he left. It’s not about hate for me, it’s just that I have moved on. I enjoy reading the angry comments of Miami fans about “Cristbal”when he loses games they should win. Therefore, for my entertainment, I would love to see Miami get blasted.
  2. I think we are a legit 5 seed, and would be favored to beat all but 4 teams. Texas Tech’s schedule seems less daunting playing in the BIG 12. Therefore, I truly would like to see us advance to the Peach Bowl. Whether we win the Peach Bowl comes down to whether DM learned anything about handling pressure from the Indiana game. If he has become a better QB because of that game, then we are a formidable team, if not then there is always next year.
  3. Definitely take this game seriously. This team is invading our coveted home turf. Their goal is to embarrass us in front our fans, and the entire sports world. Remember how crappy it felt to lose to IU at home? If the score is even close, pundits will say we are all show, and no go….let’s destroy these guys. I want to see disciplined violence on defense, and fireworks on offense.
  4. Just read that Peyton Bair transferred to Oregon for his last year of outdoor track and field. He won the decathlon at the NCAA championships in 2025. What is in the water in Idaho?
  5. Michigan sold its soul to win a championship. The aftermath of their coach’s mental breakdown will take time, and a lot of money to repair damages. While NIL can buy a team, bringing in a coach that will be up against other BIG recruiting machines seems daunting. Trying to gain traction at Michigan will not be for the faint of heart. Does Whittingham have the energy to go fight the fight? If this hire goes sideways, they could become irrelevant for another 5 to 6 years.
  6. I see a lot of upside in returning to college. While the NFL awaits for your arrival for another year, you build your skills, and put off a potential physical, and mental beatdown of playing for a team in turmoil. DM gets paid which ever route he takes. Another year in college puts eyes on his game, and with the receivers that will be available to him at Oregon, a Heismann run is certainly on the table. Which certainly enhances endorsement potential. If the goal is to make money, improve skills, be successful, and be a leader of something bigger than oneself, then returning to college seems to check a lot of the boxes.
  7. Recruits pay attention to the coaching carousel that takes place each year. When DL emphatically takes his name off the list for “prestigious” HC opportunities, it resonates with the recruits, and their parents. His promise of a family type team environment, an opportunity to play at the highest college level, and the opportunity to move on to the NFL have a proven track record. Oregon is not a stepping stone for DL. As a fan, I respect how he handles his business.
  8. Hmmmm, My wife is from Detroit, does that apply to everybody?
  9. Never watched Raiola play much. However, KLKN TV in Nebraska has a website poll that I found that asks fans whether the team is better off with or without him. With around 900 votes in… 75% think they are better off without. Don’t let the door hit you type moment for the corn hat fans. Oregon has had a long run of NFL caliber QBs. Would love to see that run extended.
  10. Some people just get stuck in the “Hippie phase”. Oregon’s campus had a fair number of these guys in the seventies. However, I am pretty sure some definitely took acid.
  11. I would watch a second tier football playoff type format (NIT invitational comes to mind) that replaces meaningless bowl games. A problem with an Invitational is obviously injury risk, and opt outs. However, media revenue drives the bus for college sports. Would people watch a 16 team CFP, and 16 team NCAA Invitational?
  12. Nice! Bear really hit his stride mid-season. Tony Tuioti has been instrumental in his development at Oregon. It is cool to see players with NFL potential trusting our coaches to further enhance their skills.
  13. DL will need to hit the portal. He should be searching for a couple of position coaches. It will be interesting to see the level of experience he brings in to fill those positions.
  14. My first thought, so much for limiting practice in order to avoid injuries.
  15. The politics of college football is exhausting. Now that we have a CFP there will always be teams on the bubble that have legitimate arguments for being included. Bowl games outside of the CFP are a risk for injury in meaningless games. Eliminating bowl games, and expanding the CFP makes the most economic sense to me. However, agreeing on an expanded format simply shows the chaos of what management by committee is all about.
  16. So far, Texas seems hellbent on proving to everyone that huge NIL budgets are not the most important factor.
  17. Matt Campbell has a lot of work to do to plug holes in a program taking on water. I suspect that Knowles is paid too much, and not the relentless type of recruiter needed for Penn State right now. If I was Matt Campbell I would look to pay less to a younger, and more energetic DC, then provide incentives for a higher payout.
  18. What is funny is how perception changes with age. Less than 5 months ago many here predicted a 10 - 2 record. Seems longer. 10 - 2 may not have been good enough to put us in the CFP. Oregon had the depth to navigate the season, and played very well in spurts, with some inexperience at key positions. Now we are at the point where games will be won in the trenches, and by solid QB play. Our path put JMU in a game that might change future CFP formats. I say let’s deal with them harshly, and prove that they don’t belong. Beyond JMU, all teams in our path want to show that Oregon is just like JMU, simply a pretender. I think most of us believe that Oregon has not played their best game yet. I want to believe we have the talent to compete with everyone in our bracket. Play with discipline, and a big chip on our shoulder. Someone will win it all, why not OBDs.
  19. Pretty sure you don’t need to worry about Gatlin being completely out of shape. His mom was an All-American pole vaulter, dad was a decathlete, and two of his brothers were decathletes. They have competed at high levels, and the whole family is supportive of each other, and aware of how to stay in shape. Doesn’t mean Gatlin will be a phenom, but I like his chances.
  20. Halftime Entertainment.
  21. Seems like expectations are that Chris Hampton gets promoted, and a new position coach is then needed. That seems to keep things tidy. We will see if any underlings are prompted to follow.
