Oregon Ducks Football: No.1 Slot DESERVED?
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The team has taken care of its business, and the spot is deserved. We all know the ranking is window dressing at this point of the season. It helps validate the programs goal. If you’re going to tell everyone that you are building a National championship team, then you need to be ranked #1 at some point. Btw…That entire scene of the crowd hurling bottles onto the field was absolutely bush league…when the refs gathered together, in a twisted way I was hoping they would penalize Texas just to see those fans totally lose their minds…lol -
Oregon Primed for the Big Time After 35-0 Rout of Purdue
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nice article. This team is winning ugly. No offensive onslaughts that reminds us of past teams. The offense is far from playing mistake free football in any game. As a matter of fact, it seems like our offensive hiccups energizes our defense. The defense, in turn, reinvigorates the offense….so far, so good. -
Oregon Ducks Take Over Top Spot in US LBM Coaches Poll in Week 9
Drake replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Another positive aspect of being ranked #1 is the impact on recruiting. Coaches sit down in the living rooms of players nationwide and tell them that they are building a winning team. DL, and staff, are validating that they are building a winning, and national championship caliber team. We haven’t accomplished anything we haven’t already done before…but, it is exciting to see us back in the spotlight. -
Oregon TE, Terrance Ferguson Had His Appendix Removed Earlier this Week
Drake replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Length of time for recovery depends on the type of surgery required. A burst appendix is a more invasive procedure than removing an appendix by laparoscopic surgery which can be performed on an outpatient basis. -
It was the loudest game I have ever attended. There are probably two types of sounds that contributed to the concrete vibrating…airborne sound, and structural borne sound (crowd stomping feet, or jumping). Which begs the question, can our fans literally bring down the house? Btw…love the quality of the photos…thank you.

Why is the Grass ‘Damn Green’ in Eugene?
Drake replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What I love about DL is that he was not the “hired gun” type coach. He is an energetic young coach with the reputation of being a rising star. Oregon took a calculated risk. (Btw…based on risk reward theory, our hire is already paying much higher returns than the USC “hired gun” acquisition of Riley) Phil Knight and company sat him down and outlined what resources they would provide to help him build a National Championship team. With that support DL has been able to go out and bring in a high caliber support staff, and recruit top notch players. PLUS… Willamette Valley…”grass seed capital of the world” (cool season grasses) Mild winters, and dry summers are ideal growing conditions. -
NCAA Closes the "Oregon Loophole", I Think Not.

Another controversial play that changed the rule book…hilarious. You can no longer advance a fumble. This play is why. -
Oregon’s Secret That Nobody Talks About…
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
You may have missed the point. Oregon did not play a perfect game, and still won. In Past years, we would have needed a perfect game to have a chance to win a game like this… The article points out that many commentators after the game stated that tOSU was the better team. The article simply points out that the Ducks were far from perfect, and that those comments are somewhat jaded.- 34 replies

The Big Ten and SEC Alliance Just Grows Stronger and Stronger
Drake replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Pretty sure the idea is that they would have massive viewership numbers to bring to the table when they negotiate the next contract. This is all about future media revenue. Unfortunately, it is a burden to the teams that travel…but, as stated…it’s all about $$$$ Btw…when revenue sharing begins, most top players will go to the conferences where they receive the highest payouts. Which effectively slowly destroys outside conferences ability to compete. -
This is why having rivalries for your college team are great. You have your “home town hero’s” gallop onto the field of battle to face the villains. Some tOSU fans have been condescending to our Ducks and fans. If they hate us…great…just makes beating them so much more satisfying.

Disappointed in National Coverage of Oregon vs. Ohio State
Drake replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think most of the talking heads were shocked that the Oregon offense could so easily move the ball down the field against the vaunted tOSU defense. Ducks end with 496 yards to tOSU 467, and zero turnovers. I read a few articles that stated Will Howard was the better QB on Saturday. I would disagree, they were evenly matched. It feels like those writer’s are biased, and simply pandering to a specific audience. When it is all said and done, winning games is the only way to slowly change the narrative. -
I think everyone knows mistakes are made. Instant replay overturns calls made on the field all the time. Fans come from a variety of professions and backgrounds. We all have an interest in our team’s success. However, I would never ask anyone to think and act exactly like myself. I actually enjoy other peoples perspectives. Some fans dislike certain broadcasters, and question calls made on the field…that is never going to change.

Not the interview, but gives you an idea how emotional this was for him. It ends just before he was interviewed.

More Reaction to That "Little" Autzen Stadium...
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Love the …It was loud AF. We tried to tell you…lol -
The Eugene outfit that supplies food for the training table has to love the Ducks.
-
The Autzen atmosphere lived up to it’s reputation. Loud and a place that top teams try to avoid. Crowd was crazy loud. Both teams played with poise, with the exception of Holden’s flagrant. The Ducks have a big bullseye painted on their jerseys with that win. Still a lot of games left on the schedule and everyone wants to spoil our season.

Ryan Day fired his defensive coordinator when we beat them in the shoe. What’s next? Fire his buddy Chip? I think their fans are very similar to USC fans, except tOSU has a better team…lol

NBC Broadcasters: "Welcome to the B1G?"
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That was Autzen at its finest. I attribute the fumbled snap to the crowd, and at least 2 to 3 penalties caused by the noise. Welcome to Autzen stadium BIG. -
Urgent to All Going to the B1G Game on Saturday....
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Noise makers are banned by the NCAA during live play at sporting events…if someone complains they will ask you to not use it anymore. Just search Noisemaker ban by NCAA. Otherwise, in every stadium, the crowd would have air horns, or trumpets blaring on every play. -
Trojan Fans and I Have Something in Common...
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Their fans expectations are far too high. The team has not been dominant for years, and they so wanted Riley to be the guy. He is a coach, not a magician. Btw..Pete Carrol teaching a class at USC seems odd. Is he posturing himself to coach at USC again, or just hanging out in LA to see if an NFL team gives him a call? -
Anything can happen when two good QB’s face each other. On offense, DG will need to be a running threat, and probably need to get some yardage and first downs running the ball. They will want to take away our running game. So, DG needs to be sharp. If DG has a decent game, then it all comes down to turnovers, and defense.

Ducks NIL Taking a Giant Leap with What Else, Nikes
Drake replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Part, of the proceeds goes to Division Street. Since the shoe is more about the team instead of one player, the proceeds can be disbursed as they see fit. Goat.com is a marketplace that sells new and used items and verifies authenticity. It is not part of Division street, therefore they probably charge a fee for each item sold. Search “what the duck”. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Biggest Threat From OSU
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Biggest threat is whether we play solid football for 4 quarters. We have seen too many errors for me to really jump on the bandwagon. If we minimize the “offensive” errors then we have a ball game. -
My Sunday Game Observations: More Progress Than I Thought...
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
You have to think DG is mad at himself about trying to force passes in the red zone. Probably the only negative over the last two games. (Is he trying to pad his TD stats?) I have to think that unless we are trailing that those forced passes will not happen again. Otherwise, as stated, because of the OL and blocking, the offense has found its mojo. Defensively, I will be curious to see what they can do to the chestnuts.
