Oregon Football: The Bye Week Blues
Bye week means golf, a couple cocktails, and hopefully buying lunch for my golf buddies, with their money.

Ducks vs Them, Penn State
The video crew compiles a lot of great content. Love all the games you mention. One of my favorite scenes from the series is from the Texas Tech game. Bassa’s interception of Shough in slow motion, accompanied with the country song “Silver Wings”, our sideline erupting, and then the home crowds reaction. Perfection.

Ducks vs Them, Penn State
You never know what parameters are handed down to the editors of these videos. If we have to play these guys again we don’t need to hand them fuel, and matches, to light a fire. Personally, I thought it was solid content. It provides an inside look at the prep for the game. Most fans do not have access to practice, or meetings. DL stated in meeting, we will outrush this team when showing last years stats…great content. Standing in tunnel…Crowd…WE ARE…DL responds…we are about to get our butt kicked is what they are about to say…love DL. Intro music could have been better, but no additional theatrics really needed. They showed the pure raw emotions from players, and coaches after a hard fought battle. That is the main reason football is such a great game to play, and watch.

Ducks of a Feather Podcast. Whiteout Reaction
KB, talking to Dakorien Moore during pregame warm up (25:25)…”These are the types of games where legends are born, go be legendary”. Dakorien’s dead serious response…..”This is what I came for” Such Great Content.

Oregon Football: Is Moore the Best in the Country?
Tough to anoint anyone as the best in the country at their position after 5 games. Dante has a very talented team surrounding him, and certainly possesses the talent to become the “best.” The Penn State game puts him into the National Spotlight, and Heismann tropy discussion. In the end, it will be all about winning games, as a team, that will determine his rise in the college ranks. Exciting times for OBD.

Sources: Big Ten Mulling $2B Private Capital Deal
I have worked with private equity firms and they use questionable tactics. They will always tout their management expertise to increase values, but generally look for short term profits with little regard to the long term health. Private equity works best when valuation of assets is based upon an active marketplace. They will pay themselves huge management fees, and once they own something, they also have the rights to sell it. I would immediately vote no on the idea of capitalization of something that is so very difficult to value. How often do you see equity right to a Universities ability to generate income up for sale?

Sources: Big Ten Mulling $2B Private Capital Deal
Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing. Let’s see…Private equity looks at ways they can improve the BIG 10 (they just want to make money), all you have to do is sell us equity rights, in something that is very hard to value. The problem is that each University brings a different valuation to the table. Therefore, you immediately set up an argument over proper valuation, and distribution. Absolutely no way this goes smoothly.

4 Duck QBs Starting in the NFL Next Week?
Google search states we would be tied with… USC in 2009 (Leinhart, Palmer, Sanchez, Booty) Michigan State 2014 (Cousins, Stanton, Bell, Cunningham) North Carolina, but only three listed (Brissett, Rivers, Wilson) with no date.

An Interesting PSU 4th Quarter Breakdown
For the majority of the game the defense was in Allar’s face. After taking the 17 - 3 lead, the defense seemed content to allow short passes, but got burned on the long TD pass that gave them hope. Momentum is everything, and a personal foul helped to further stoke that fire. I hope that a lesson was learned.

Moore in no Hurry to Leave for the NFL
He has started 10 games in his college career, and is recognized among the top QB’s, but I have a feeling that Dante knows that he can play better. He was humbled by his freshman experience, and I love the fact that he had the maturity to sit for a year when he transferred back to the Ducks. We are lucky to have him.

Ducks vs Them “A Thousand Cuts” Video
Man, I am glad this is a bye week…so much effort, guts, and emotion went into this win. It would be difficult to reset and replicate in less than a week.

What Were You Surprised By? What NEEDS to be Improved vs. Indiana?
I was surprised that targeting wasn’t called. I think DL will need to make sure this team knows that Cignetti wants to shove their faces in the dirt, and take their girlfriends.

Our Beloved Ducks: Is it SAFE to Dream?
We will go as far as Dante Moore will take us, and based upon his decision making, and passing accuracy so far, that could very well be to the final game of the CFP. We have paid our dues, time to take that final step.

Post-Game Thread: How 'Bout Our DUCKS?
It was, we have this, then, uh oh…what outstanding poise by that team. Then an outstanding result.

A Question of Time
Never… DM, with clean pocket, opts to throw ball 10 yards further downfield to the receiver breaking free on a post pattern.

What Does "Commitment" Mean?
Verbal commitment = a verbal contract that gives leverage to negotiate higher NIL money with other suitors. While money isn’t everything, it certainly looks good in the savings account.

Offer Advice to a Visiting Fan?
Traffic is slow on I5 south on game days. Not too sure they have announced a kick off time yet. If driving a few hours before game time from Portland, my advice is once you get to the south side of Salem merge to the right hand lane for at least 3 to 5 miles. You will thank me. If I was looking for a place to stay, after the game, that is closer to Portland. I would recommend the Fairfield Inn, it is a Marriott property in an area called Lake Oswego. It is located just a few miles from Portland, and there are a number of restaurants within walking distance in a safe part of the metro area.

Oregon's So-So Running Backs: Will Davison Grab the Top Spot?
Davison has the body type that can wear down a defense. He is a +230lbs back, with thunder thighs, that can run through some DB’s. From my experience, driving through a tackle of someone 30 to 40 lbs heavier sounds great, until you are the one doing it. Just go run into a wall at full speed, and that will give you the true experience of getting curb stomped by a RB, or TE, that we see at times on the field. Personally, I like splitting reps with a change of tempo type combo. Power runner, coupled with an elusive fast guy. Perhaps knowing the blocking schemes, and assignments, keeps Hughes on the sidelines. Our depth is great for playing average teams, but you need the guys that know what is going on when any audible is called in the big games.

Big Moves in AP, Coaches Polls
18 undefeated teams in the top 25 after 4 weeks. Currently, we are tied for first.

Holy Crap! Indiana was ASTOUNDING
Illinois is not a top 10 team, but Indiana truly embarrassed them. Indiana believes they belong in the CFP picture, and I won’t argue. Their QB was 21/23 passing, and they rushed for over 300 yards. They also had 7 sacks. Nobody beats a team with those stats. Home field advantage at Autzen is the real deal, and our defense will be challenged. 10/11 will be a can’t miss game.

Our Beloved Ducks: Not Quite Ready for 'Natty Time?
Natty ready? As in, are we under, or overrated? This is a good team. Always tough to judge how good, against teams where we are favored by 4 to 5 touchdowns. So far, we are not relying heavily on one receiver, or running back. Eight players caught passes today, with Sadiq having the most with four receptions. We ran 45 times, and Limar had the largest load with 12 carries. We were faced with 3rd and long too many times today, and the 3rd down conversion rate was low, based on the quality of the defense we faced. Next week we will get a clearer picture of whether we are a viable contender.

The Crumbling OSUs...
Tough to win when in today’s version of D1 football when you have no money to compete. Tough to pay bills when nobody wants to buy tickets to watch your imploding football program. Firing the coach sounds good, but you are hoping the new coach can sell season tickets, but still have no money for the new staff to recruit. Dismantling the football program when the state just floated $45 million in bonds on your stadium is not a good look for the rodents.

Not the most attractive carving. I would have recommended something more like this…
