  1. At 21-7, TT, this game is effectively over.
  2. The most favorable match I see vs. Texas Tech is the OBD coaching staff vs. TT staff.
  3. I believe both Hampton and Mehringer worked games from the booth. Unless a person was listening in on the game conversation between the coaches, one doesn’t really know who was making the calls. Both of these coaches were titled “co-coordinator” for a reason. Possibly the die was cast for them to have the inside track for their new jobs some time ago.
  4. Actually the B1G championship game will have nearly zero impact on whether the loser drops out of the top four. While if Georgia loses the SEC game, they just might drop below OBD. To me SEC championship is a game of significance, while our conference championship is almost meaningless. So if I were making the decision for ESPN, I'd send Game Day to the place where there's a real game.
  5. Here is my thought about why it is highly unlikely that Dan Lanning will have a failure in his coordinator selections. Just listen to his interview about LOI day, taped earlier today. It's linked at the bottom of the photos of the new recruits in a thread started by Charles. Asked about what traits he sees in the three coordinators that he has worked with at Oregon that he will look for in hiring replacements Lanning gave an answer that tells a great deal about him and the OBD program, part of which was: “realizing that it’s not about him, (the coordinator), but about the players.” The whole answer is a must read for any serious Duck fan. It you don’t have time to listen to the entire interview, scroll to 15:00. In my opinion, we are the most fortunate fans in all of college football to have Dan Lanning as our OBD head coach.
  6. I have to wonder whether ever before there were three P-4 head coaches on the sideline coaching the same team at the same time. 😄
  7. It’s on B1G network in the 60 minute version with all the wasted time removed. Still has every play. And, some replays.
  8. I would turn them both down. Much nicer in my recliner with the refrigerator close by and the bathroom just down the hall. Then there’s replay, multiple cameras, and the announcers to critique. Plus I get to change to another game during times out and half time. Haven’t been to Autzen in years. Don’t miss the drunks and people who think they have to leap to their feet and block my view, either. When you’re age 86 you learn to adapt.
  9. I too am thankful for the wonderful surgeons in Eugene. My back last year and my wife’s recent breast cancer where he removed all of the cancerous tissue.
  10. Isn’t the essence of a great interview putting the focus on the subject while the person asking the questions fades into the background? Like a well-officiated basketball game, you don’t notice the referees.
  11. I know, I know, you think Conzano is a Beaver honk, so you turn off at the sight of his name. I don't. Been a John Conzano subscriber for years, ignoring any perceived loyalties, and just enjoying an experienced sports news guy who has a heart. This interview, linked below, I hope, shows why Conzano is one of the most outstanding communicators in sports today. Enjoy! https://open.substack.com/pub/johncanzano/p/canzano-dan-lanning-says-he-never?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email
  12. Everything is better in Texas until nature calls when you’re on the interstate.
  13. Here's my "entry" to the name the rivalry contest:
  14. Chip Kelly “left” OBD (he was forced out by a pending NCAA suspension) in 2012! The high school players being recruited today were five years old. I question whether they even know his name, and certainly don’t know his out dated offensive system.
  15. Jon, if all of your suggestions come about the committee members will resign "en mass".
  16. Thanks. Jon, OK by me if it goes in the record books as a tie.
  17. In the beginning, the Champion of college football used to be the University of Chicago. Then for decades it was a school from the Ivy League. Those championships were decided by a “beauty contest” in the press, not by games on the field, as they are today. Since the college football playoffs began, USC has not been included as a participant. Whatever championship they won before the playoffs makes them as relevant today as the University of Chicago or teams from the Ivy League. All that counts is what is retained in the memory of an 18 year old player deciding what school he will attend.
  18. I have a confession to make. On Thursday I figured out what I was going to put down as my chosen score. First I decided the margin, that the Ducks would win by 14 points. Then I figured how many points USC would make, 24, and added 14 for the Ducks’ score. Within a few minutes of Mr FishDuck opening the thread I looked at his score estimate and was disappointed to find that he chose the precise numbers I intended to put down. So I kept the same 14 point margin and increased each team by a field goal. If Lincoln Riley doesn’t choose to go for two and his QB panic on the throw history would record a different winner.
  19. Never had a doubt. There’s some fan base down south that likes to spout:”The Ducks can’t win the big games.” Hope this one is B1G enough for them.
  20. By the roster we WR Kasper RSJr, and Dickey, RS O
  21. Ducks 41-27 1 turnovers 1 sack 293 yds passing
  22. Jon Sousa the salesman lied to you. Hope you didn't buy the black clothing. You should wonder why school busses are yellow and highway construction workers wear yellow or orange. I suggest that you google this: "In daylight is a yellow object more visible than a black object?" Here's the response: "Yes, in daylight, a yellow object is more visible than a black one . Yellow is highly eye-catching and one of the most visible colors to the human eye, especially under daylight conditions, which is why it is used for safety equipment and school buses. A black object is less visible because it absorbs most wavelengths of light, whereas a yellow object reflects yellow light, making it stand out against most backgrounds." So our QB's can see receivers wearing yellow more easily than when they wear black. Amazingly the next most visible color - green.
  23. Thank you Darren, for putting a B1G smile on my face this early morning!
