A somewhat disappointing list but I guess I'd take a hopefully matured Kiffin out of the four. I highly doubt he would have stuck with AB through hell and high water over our star studded youngsters. Still holding out four an upper level SEC coordinator myself.

A big step up yes but half the folks on this forum would be thrilled if an offensive coordinator from New Hampshire with no prior head coaching experience returned.

Deion Sanders was Just named SWAC coach of the year after going 11-1 and 8-0 in conference. The average scores for Jackson ST were 29-13. Can you imagine UO recruiting in LA with Prime Time walking into a 5 start kids living room?

Mario's silence is his statement. If your lady asks you if it's going to be her or the other woman and you pause to think, it's already over. Pretty much the same thing going on here. I say pull the offer and move on with some dignity. Maybe offer a top D coach from the SEC (Georgia, Alabama), let him bring along a position coach to run his system then giving the him $$$ to shower on the top offensive brain available. That $9,000,000 from Miami could go along way stocking up on top notch assistants. We shouldn't be acting like it's Mario or bust.

Mario and Miami appear to be Close to a Deal

Um.... Doesn't Miami still have a coach under contract? Haven't seen anything on Diaz being fired yet. -
Big 12 Championship OK.State - Baylor
The Kamikaze Kid replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Anyone else hear the Baylor Coach say the key to this season's success was to check their own egos, scrutinize what wasn't working process it and forge a new path forward? Almost sounded like he was talking to a certain other coach we know. -
Moorhead has had to devise an offense complex enough to confuse upper level and future pro college players but simple enough for an average high school QB to run. No wonder he just ran for the door.

Outside of some amped up U fan boys, I don't see much smoke here let alone any fire. In the interview MC states that his mother was unconscious and unable to speak (sure hope she pulls through) but if she was she would have told him to get out of there and get back to work. To me, Mario doesn't seem like the kind of guy to use a family crisis as a media distraction to conceal ulterior motives. He prides himself on being a straight shooter and I don't see him breaking character now. Seems to me he is grateful for this opportunity giving to him by the UO (with the support of his players) to build the program of his dreams and is on a mission to complete the job. Also, the Miami dumpster fire will still be smoldering whenever he decides his work here is done.

Are we being too hard on Coach C?
The Kamikaze Kid replied to The Kamikaze Kid's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Does this team come out of the shoe with a win with a Freshman QB making his second start? For that matter, do they even beat Fresno State with a Freshman QB making their first start? If the Ducks start 0-2, we would be screaming for coach to bench the freshman and put in the experienced senior. At Stanford, every one of the questionable penalties near the end had to happen to even take it to overtime. That end zone pass interference on 4th down with time expired was over the top. At Utah, the Ducks killed their own drives early with bad passes to open receivers on 3rd downs. Once in a 21-0 hole, trying to score before half was the only way to try to salvage a win and we all saw what happened next. I'm pretty sure Coach brought in Brown to be a veteran back up to Shough allowing his young QBs to develop but was forced to start Brown when Shough transferred. I'd say 10-2 playing for a third straight Pac 12 Championship is pretty good for a team with a less than optimal QB. -
Dana Altman: "Everyone is Questioning us"
The Kamikaze Kid replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Seems like every November and early December teams are licking their chops before playing the Ducks. Come late February or March it's more like a nervous gulp followed with panicked breathing. -
I've read many comments on how bad and predictable the Ducks offense can be at times and I myself have screamed out loud "what the (expletive deleted) was that?" as much as anyone. But maybe we should let cooler heads prevail as we consider a few very real things that Coach is having to deal with. First, I have read that the Ducks have the youngest team in the country and yet they were firmly in the playoff picture right up till a couple weeks ago. Second, Coach Moorhead's debut with the Ducks in 2020 could not have been worse with covid canceling spring camp delaying the installation of the offense and the Pac 12 canceling the season then abruptly bringing it back on with just a few weeks to prepare. Then this year they are stuck with a QB with leadership skills but very sporadic passing accuracy. This alone forced them to design the simplest passing plays that were very easy to defend yet they still ended up in a near statistical tie for highest scoring offense in the conference. Even with all that, the Ducks are preparing to threepeat as conference champs. Next year, we may have a 5 star QB doing 5 star things, passing to elite receivers and handing off to elite running backs being protected by an elite line. That 40 points a game team might just be right around the corner but with an SEC level of toughness. Coach C may very well be setting up his own Miami U machine right here before our very eyes as we continue to whine about the few steps back we take while continuing the march forward.
