  1. Punt on first down. Pin them back on the one to start the game!
  2. With all of their crazy color combos, just wearing green in a big game feels like a victory in itself.
  3. If Mario were still the coach, getting shut out would have been not only possible but probable. I can only wonder what Lanning has thought to himself after watching tape of that bizarrely predictable offense.
  4. Huskies and Huskers should play each other in the Pepperridge Farm Bowl because no one else remembers or cares about their ancient pasts.
  5. Failure is having a team you can no longer root for. I’d say Mario’s teams that barely won on the scoreboard but felt like loses to the eyes were a failure. Conversely the Brooks teams that gave it their all, you could root for know matter the outcome. Just putting a team on the field that competes week in week out is a success to me.
  6. If you want the bridge walk experience as scene on tv, park by the U of O not by the stadium. From there, just follow the flow of the crowd.
  7. Unlike those false dawgs up north (properly referred to as fuskies), most old school Duck fans remember our lean and almost there years all too well. Our bandwagon fans can be as annoying as any other schools but clawing your way up from the bottom creates a humbling appreciation for success. I’d say this is why we generally have appreciation for Utah’s climb to the top as well as UGA’s conquest of Bama. Glad our two schools have created a coast to coast connection via Coach Lanning.
  8. MCDawg: Dissing your own team is great bulletin board material for your own team!
  9. I think Lanning far more than any of us truly understands what we’re going up against in a week. Just think of how many coaches meetings he’s been in with coach Smart. How many times he’s seen a master mind coach take the smallest scrap of information and build a winning game plan from it. I think because the Ducks have been the most mismanaged powerhouse team in the country the last few years, they are also the most unknown team. I see Lanning using this to his advantage.
  10. Once in the BIG, I don’t expect SC to put up 40+ scores. I see them running into the same problem UO had with Stanford. How many times did we see the tree run for four yards, four yards three yards, rinse and repeat down the field. Drives lasting five to six minutes a pop. They just joined the Stanford conference and Buckeye can do that and still throw for 350+. Ironically, SC would be more suited to dominate the Big 12. Reality doesn’t sell newspapers in La La land.
  11. Yes. It’s their championship trophy until someone takes it away!
  12. Sounds like Lanning may have more plans of creating chaotic havoc with positionles players Having thought about that for a minute, I’d like to pose a question to our new Dawg friends more familiar with the coach. What would you expect Lanning to alter in the defensive scheme from what UGA runs?
  13. I can only think of two school fan bases in the country that could go 4-8, fire their coach and claim they’re ready for the Natty the next year. And they both reside at opposite ends of the I 5.
  14. Woundedknees, you , me and Pepperidge Farm remember!
  15. The PAC went 0-5 in bowls last year. In a battle of two teams that saw their coaches leave before their bowls, UO was down 31-3 by halftime. The defending national champs and their fan base have the right to talk as much smack as they want. Duck fans feel that the team under performed due to sub par coaching and the team is much better than the results. I believe that as well but it will need to be shown on the field.
  16. I think reporters should stop using terms like “going pro early “ or “ leaving to go pro”. Instead they should say a player quit school early hoping to make it in the pros. Every year in basketball, far more kids “go pro early “ than there are draft spots available. A few good games in college is not a red carpet walk to pro sports.
  17. I'd say some dawg fans are delusional but the other Dawg aren't. Win a championship, talk all you want Dawg fans. 2-15, back to the dawg house you go fuskie fan.
  18. Lanning seems to be intent on setting his own path. I don't see what the appeal of Bama would be for him. It seems to be more of a Kelly/ Helfrich transition. "Here's the keys to the Ferrari kid. It's all souped up and has a full tank of gas. Don't wreck it." Keep winning championships and it's just par for the course. Stop winning championships and you're a failure. The only move I'd be concerned about would be going pro. If he likes the advantage recruiting gives him, he may stay at UO for awhile. If he wants the challenge of a level playing field, he may leave. If he leaves after the Ducks win some championships, I'm sure they land on their feet just fine.
  19. I think one of the biggest Duck stories to not come out was how not broke the Ducks were at the end of the Helfrich era. The biggest problems they had were defensive miss management. Both D coordinators Pellum and Hoke tanked a defense that had been humming along until then. The team had an instant turn around under Taggart with Herbert at QB but flailed with Bermister. I don’t think the Ducks were broke at all when Mario took over. He got WAY too much credit for the return to the top 25. It looks to me more like he was what kept them from being top 5.
  20. I wonder how long until there’s an NIL dating website to match up athletic parents. In the world of ridiculous, you go big or go home.
  21. Ironically, this is the type of game Mario envisioned winning with his ground and pound. This is also a game that his simplistic offensive mindset would have gotten shut out in. They will need both ingenuity and physicality to just move the chains let alone score. I see the Ducks going into this game playing with house money. Getting a win would be awesome but the learning experience no matter the outcome should expedite long term success.
  22. UO 13 UGA 24 Breaking in a new QB, receivers and running backs against the best D in the nation is a tough way to start. Outside of a probable loss, you really couldn't ask for a better sink or swim game out of the gate for the new coaching staff to evaluate players, schemes and themselves. The Ducks will likely take their lumps but be better for it in the end.
  23. Oregon has a three game win streak and nobody even really cares. Fuskies have not had a three game win streak since before the pick. Nuff said.
  24. Oregon won't really start recruiting until September 3. That's when the talk turns to walk and the world finally sees what the team, coaches and players look like. If the direction of the team appears to be back on track towards national prominence, things will take care of themselves.
  25. "Only three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad." Pretty much sums up Mario's offensive philosophy.
