New information out tonight that the ACC has notified Stanford that in the interest of competition, they have withdrawn their acceptance of Stanford and have extended it to Portland State instead. "Portland State demonstrated the ability to score a touchdown on a FBS team" - ACC representative

I wonder if all the running and hits fatigued him too much. He did not look as sharp and crisp as the end as he did at the beginning. -

If TT wants Shough to last the season, they need to find another part of the running game. He looked less sharp/crisp with his throws at the end of the game...wonder if that was from fatigue. -

THIS RIGHT HERE is why I love college football!! Duke. Duke football beat Clemson! The program that many put at #3 behind Alabama and Georgia as a dynasty type program was lethargic, mistake prone in critical areas (like the red zone multiple times) and didn't seem to have the speed of Duke. It was really crazy watching it. You kept thinking that Clemson was gonna wake up...and they didn't...or maybe they just aren't that good. They looked thoroughly outmatched on the field tonight. Maybe...just maybe they are missing that QB who is up at OSU

This weeks "W" is in the books. Next week is a new opponent with new challenges. I am confident in DL's ability to prep and plan for the upcoming opponent, and I also believe that TT is NOT going to mail it in after that game at Wyoming. I recall a game last year against Georgia that was kinda ugly and that season turned out ok. Shough has something to prove to Oregon and TT's coaches will do what they can to prep/calm him down for this matchup. TT does have a couple good WR's so our DB's have to bring a good game. Pressure on Shough should help, but as Jon pointed out, "Where was the pass rush"? I think we see a more complex defensive plan, a plan that works to create havoc in the backfield. TT's offensive line seemed a little suspect so it will be fun to see what is dialed up instead of the vanilla D against PSU. Ahhh, college football...welcome back!!

I don't do social media (I don't consider FishDuck social media....this is highest quality journalism!) I a fan of social media like Kirk is of Khan, Picard is of Q, and Captain America is of Thanos (hopefully covered most of us there). Having said that, sometimes nuggets get tossed into the social-verse that have to be shared. This happens to be one of them.

I share some of the frustration that this writer for TrojansWire mentions regarding the PAC-12 Network. Some of the camera work is not the best, albeit some QB's are mastering the play fake to perfection and I get lost myself. Still, the PAC-12 Network is a better watch than when the larger networks bring two big cameras and a couple Go-Pros to try to broadcast a game. What brought this article to my attention was this doozy of a sentence: "The visibility of USC football has been negatively affected by PAC-12 Network.". Nope, I think that may fall on Clay Helton more than Larry Scott...USC only made themselves visible because they hired Lincoln Riley and that brought Caleb Williams to town. THAT generated excitement and buzz! USC visibility was not negatively affected by PAC-12 Networks. Not being relevant because your program was in disarray was what negatively impacted USC. USC fans say goodbye and good riddance to Pac-12 Network TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Nevada game was the final #USC home football game on Pac-12 Network. Fans were angry, but also...

USC is getting shredded (not just by San Jose State) nationally in the media for their defense. I love the last line..."USC will try to get the defense back on track this week against Nevada" Really?!?! Nevada is an offensive juggernaut to judge your defense on?? You know it's back on track how? Your 5* athletes are able dominate lesser skilled players? Yeesh! Paul Finebaum 'disillusioned' by Lincoln Riley, USC defense after Week 0 showing WWW.ON3.COM .

I struggle to understand how dense the gray matter must be to make statements like this after joining a brand new conference. I would ask all of you to be patient with me as this new reality is setting in. My brain is buzzing with all of the shifting and new ideas/thoughts pop into my head often. It is very distracting to my work day (okay, that isn't so much but having the Wisconsin/Oregon Rose Bowl and Oregon/Kansas State Fiesta Bowl taking up one my screens certainly is). Anyway, I had this though penetrate into the synapsees and thought I would toss it out there for debate and discussion: How does this move affect coaches longevity at the program? It has been discussed by multiple sports talk shows and "experts" that when a football coach leaves the Pac-12, he is usually leaving for a better opportunity. An opportunity with greater recognition, risk/reward, etc. Now Oregon happened to have two coaches (they will not be named) who left to return to their "dream jobs" in the past several years. Chip Kelly left for an NFL opportunity, Mark Helfrich left because the mass x acceleration of the boot ejected him. When Dan Lanning was hired; there were many folks who wondered how long it would be before he would jump back to the SEC after having success at Oregon. Some gave it three years, some gave it five years. I HAVE to believe that this move to a conference considered to be the closest in talent to the SEC would certainly be a factor in keeping him as the Ducks head coach for the foreseeable future. I get that assistants will leave for HC jobs or whatever but this move HAS to have an impact in coaching decisions. I would think of it as the best of several worlds. You get to play in a powerhouse conference that has had representation in 6 out of 9 playoffs, and last year they got in two teams. You get to live on the west coast. You get MASSIVE recognition from recruiting sectors that you may not have had inroads to before. You leave behind that mystique (right or wrong) of being in a "weaker" conference. While I don't know DL and am not inside his head, I would think that he may feel he just hit a proverbial lottery! On a confessive side note, I do tend to peruse the musing of the unhappy folks of the school to the north and they are discussing this exact issue but from a much different perspective. Why would Jonathan Smith stay? What about the assistants that may no longer be at a Power-5 school, will they leave (apparently a couple already have). This DOES matter, I am thankful that we are on what seems to be the correct side of the divide.

Big Ten expansion: Power ranking each program’s value to the league BUCKEYESWIRE.USATODAY.COM It was a hard task, but we took a stab at it. #B1G They have Oregon ranked as the 5th best team in the B1G...I think we should be at 3 personally. I think it's an indication of how self-absorbed those USC fans that they act like they are ALREADY playing in the B1G. Sorry guys, UofO gets there the same year you do...and I know that REALLY torques the lug nuts!! And before they go and hold up Jim Harbaugh as the moral police chief, perhaps that USC poster should read this article: Michigan's Jim Harbaugh working out four-game suspension with NCAA, per report WWW.GOOGLE.COM Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and the NCAA reportedly are working on a four-game suspension after he...

Tremendous article from Stewart Mandel (love him or despise him) regarding how the CFKAPAC12 (Conference Formerly Known As PAC12) ended up at extinction. I will admit, there was some strong emotions when he talked about the ESPN Gameday coverage of that AWESOME game between Stanford and Oregon (Darron Thomas outdueled Andrew Luck and LaMike went OFF with 3TDs). The next few years seemed to be the pinnacle of PAC-12's rise, although no one knew it at the time. The conference WAS relevant, innovative, and cutting edge.... Fast forward to today (unless Mari0 is calling plays, then meander and shuffle) and Mandel lays the blame for this squarely on the shoulders of Larry Scott...and that's where it should be. Yes, Kliavkoff has a role to play. But Scott bears this. Mandel: Pac-12's cause of death is about gross failure of leadership THEATHLETIC.COM From Larry Scott to George Kliavkoff, here's how the Pac-12 fell apart amid mass departures to the Big Ten and...
