  10. Best of luck Mr. Butterfield. I only got to see you play in the spring game but was impressed with your skills. Go crush it somewhere... outside of the PAC-12 preferably!
  11. Tremendous, tremendous story. Thank you so much. Actually brought some tears to my eyes remembering that day as that tragedy was unfolding and what I was doing. Another story for a different time. Thank you for sharing.. from one Alaskan to another.
  12. Yes, he had an offer from Oregon. Also Alabama and Ohio State. I have a feeling that IF DL wanted to pursue him, he could get him. But I am with you on Moore. He seems to be such a tremendous talent that you don't want to endanger that relationship. Of course some of it may depend on what Nix decides to do. And who knows, maybe someone will find the factory reset button on TT and get him rebooted.
  13. Gonzalez has nothing else to prove at the college level. In every game I watched the announcers discussed his transition to the next level and why he will be valuable. He was absolutely a diamond of a get for Oregon this year. A talent like him is hard to replace. There ARE some talented DB's in the portal if DL wants to go that way. Sewell didn't have the best year but depending on what draft site you look at it, he is still projected as a late first rounder. He probably goes. I would be 100% certain if he had matched or exceeded last years production. From ESPN: I would also add Dorlus, DJ Johnson, maybe Ware-Hudson, and most of the offensive line to that list.
  14. My apologies if this has been posted already. For those of you with the time/interest to follow the athletes entering the portal, here is the Rivals Transfer Portal link: https://n.rivals.com/transfer_tracker/2023 Some big name QB's in there now: Hudson Card from Texas and Cade McNamara from Michigan.
  15. I do not think anyone was super surprised at this...I think he may have gotten 12 carries this year...if that. Oregon RB Byron Cardwell announces intent to enter the transfer portal 247SPORTS.COM Byron Cardwell becomes the latest Oregon Ducks football program member to enter the transfer...
  16. Over the last several days, I've been avoiding the news articles about the Ducks-Beavers fiasco. It just did not seem real to me, my younger boys are still not sure it actually happened. The last three weeks of Duck football has been tough. Not one of those games was kind to any of us with D.F.A.I (Duck Football Anxiety Issues). Yes, we had a win in the Utah game. How many of you still had any fingernails left when that one was over? What made these games the most difficult to swallow was that Oregon beat themselves in the two losses. But in reality, those other two squads were not shlups. Yesterday, while listening to "experts" discuss the Michigan - Ohio State game, a comment was made that really stuck with me: Rivalry games HAVE to matter. What makes them matter is that either team can win. Not one person last Saturday cared about the "rivalry game" between Georgia - Georgia Tech. The outcome of that game was NEVER in doubt and it was a rivalry only because both schools happen to be in Georgia. Talent wise, no contest. UW and U of O: Rivalry. Beavers and Ducks: Rivalry. Why? Because either team can (and did) beat the other. Now, I will be the person at the front of the line yelling the loudest that I want these games to be absolute blowouts and Oregon puts forth such a prolific offensive/defensive display that the other team goes to the bus at halftime. I want an absolute dominating performance....63-0 or something like that. Or a score that puts the game so far out of reach that our second, third, and some band members get some playing time. That puts my mind at ease and makes me feel good about my team. The perspective that I reluctantly had to realize was that the Pac-12 needs Washington and Oregon State to be good. They need to be good to bolster rankings when it matters. The knock against Clemson has always been that they play in a weak conference and therefore have no room for error. The SEC is viewed as the opposite (deserved or not). The Alabama losses to Tennessee and LSU will not affect where they are next year. Why? Because the SEC is seen as a tough conference with good teams. While part of me wants the Ducks to be the Clemson of the Pac-12 and just roll through everyone, the conference NEEDS to have multiple teams that are capable of winning any game they play. This year was one of the few years in recent memory where the PAC had 5 teams ranked. We need that to happen more often. You will always have a bad team in your conference (some time ago, that team was Oregon). Those of you who remember the mid 80's and early 90's endured a lot of 5-6 and 6-5 records. I HATE to lose. Always have. But a very wise coach of mine once said that you "should never enjoy losing, so do something about it and learn why you lost". Guess what, it looks like OSU took that to heart, as did that other team from the Seattle area. Oregon was on the short end of scoreboard in those games. I hate it. But, those were pretty good teams. THAT is what makes a rivalry game matter.
  17. Dame's been out for the last while, so get him back with the way Simons and Grant are playing....that's a tremendous trio!
  18. I've been there when I was a younger man. It will make you sick if you let it!! It will be what it will be. I blame Al Gore and his dastardly internet creation!
  19. Oddly enough, his name was mentioned in October for the Colorado HC job. UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo is another candidate to watch for Buffs COLORADOBUFFALOESWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Buffs should keep their eye on this former Oregon coordinator
  20. This is a tremendous statement! What coach after leaving Oregon has found success elsewhere?? Chip struggled in the NFL and at UCLA until this year. Frost, Taggert, and Arroyo have all been fired. Moorhead is 2-9 with Akron. It is a positive indication of how Oregon is perceived when other programs want your coaches. Programs don't run after junk to be their HC (I'll understand any WT or MC comments). But as Log Haulin said "Oregon has Oregon" and that doesn't always translate to success elsewhere. Saban has to turn over OC's/DC's like a grilled cheese on high heat. Some of them leave to be successful elsewhere, some don't do so well.
  21. Well, that is a bummer. I liked that kid's abilities. He didn't have as many catches as Franklin, Huston, or Cota but his average was awesome, 21.5 yards per catch. Speculating of course, but a Dilly casualty?
  22. Oh, I know he he only has one year left...I was just being wistful in wanting a QB that showed the poise and grasp of the game like Bo. His leadership appeared to be the real deal too. AB just didn't seem to have the level of game knowledge that Bo has... probably a little unfair to AB to say that given the coaching regime he played for...
  23. This is still on his Instagram front page:
  24. Love this guy's focus...can he come back for two or three more seasons?? Maybe show coaches how to focus on the next game and not the next job opening... Bo Nix: ‘Still some football left to play’ before deciding whether to return to Oregon Ducks or stay in 2023 NFL draft WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Bo Nix says he’s waiting until the end of the season to determine what his plans are for 2023.
  25. Be interesting to get Whittington's take on him.
