I mentioned in a previous post about my 10 year old that I am excited about what lies ahead. This week, I called my friend at the season ticket office and purchased my tickets for next year. It was an awesome feeling! The buzz around the ticketing office is crazy, they are just as excited about what lies ahead. To read the passion on this board from folks about their ducks is what makes the crowd at Autzen special. I know the signing day is next week, and there is concern about losing commits, and losing current players because of uncertainty. So my question is this: MM was a 3* but WANTED to be here. Are we more concerned about our national rank in recruiting or do we want kids who will give it everything they have regardless of stars because they WANT to be at Oregon? Anybody doubt the heart and passion of 3* Travis Dye? I have no idea who the new coach will be and I've made the decision that I'm just going to slow it down and enjoy being a Duck ticket holder.

I thought I would share an insight from my 10 year old son, who is a lifelong duck fan. We watch all the Pac-12 encore games, so he has seen the likes of Dixon, Thomas, and Mariota playing QB for the Ducks. This season at the Arizona game, he looked at me and said: "Dad, when is number 13 gonna throw the ball to those guys? They NEED the ball". He was pointing at the receivers. I, for one, am excited about the possibility of a more wide open offense for this coming year...and my 10 year old demands it!!

Now would be the time....his DC went to Oklahoma, his OC (Tony Elliott) is taking/has taken (depending on which story you read) a HC job at Virginia and the AD, Dan Radakovich has joined Cristobal in Miami....did they know something? In the words of the great vat of wisdom, Lloyd Christmas: "So you're saying there's a chance!?" Word out of Salt Lake City is that Utah is unhappy with DeRuyter's decision...multiple offensive players were saying "he made our team better"..... *Sarcasm....but maybe not far off*

Would DeRuyter leave if Wilcox was a contender for this position? I don't know either guy so I don't know how they worked together down at Cal.

Maybe Saban needs a new a challenge...winning a national championship at a Pac-12 school might just be it.

I was listening to Full Ride on ESPNU with Rick Neuheisel and talk turned to the Oregon coaching vacancy. Neuheisel went on for several minutes about how the facilities are unlike any others you will see, the support is unbelievable, the fan base is amazing...etc. His co-host asked him if he would take the job... Neuheisel said nobody has contacted him but it would be a phenomenal position. You never know who may be interested...even a former Buff/Husky/Bruin coach!

If MC leaves for Miami, this would be 1000:1 shot, but why not get on the phone and make this call: "Hello, Mr. Saban, I've got a whale of an offer for you...." It almost seems like UW settled for their coach (the former Fresno State guy IS a good coach...but why not shoot higher?) Whereas USC went after a big name... I don't ever want Oregon to be thought of as a starter job that leads to bigger opportunities....so, you have to make it a destination job...money talks as we've seen the recent coaching moves. Did anyone think Bryan Kelly would leave ND?
