  2. After I win Powerball, I plan on building a room and displaying all of the Duck helmets! I need to win Powerball to buy all the duck helmets too.
  3. This excerpt is from the article I have linked...I didn't realize they had a new coach... Winners and losers: UCLA faces a foggy future amid the conference realignment - On3 WWW.ON3.COM Where does the UCLA Bruins stand as a winner or loser in the conference realignment roulette in the last 18 months?
  4. I struggle to understand how dense the gray matter must be to make statements like this after joining a brand new conference. I mean, this is like meeting your in-laws for the first time and telling Aunt Bee that you don't like her house. Mr. AD director, maybe the Mountain West has locations more suitable for you. Arizona State athletic director makes instant enemies in Big 12 TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Shockingly insensitive remarks from Arizona State AD Ray Anderson have already infuriated #WestVirginia...
  5. I would ask all of you to be patient with me as this new reality is setting in. My brain is buzzing with all of the shifting and new ideas/thoughts pop into my head often. It is very distracting to my work day (okay, that isn't so much but having the Wisconsin/Oregon Rose Bowl and Oregon/Kansas State Fiesta Bowl taking up one my screens certainly is). Anyway, I had this though penetrate into the synapsees and thought I would toss it out there for debate and discussion: How does this move affect coaches longevity at the program? It has been discussed by multiple sports talk shows and "experts" that when a football coach leaves the Pac-12, he is usually leaving for a better opportunity. An opportunity with greater recognition, risk/reward, etc. Now Oregon happened to have two coaches (they will not be named) who left to return to their "dream jobs" in the past several years. Chip Kelly left for an NFL opportunity, Mark Helfrich left because the mass x acceleration of the boot ejected him. When Dan Lanning was hired; there were many folks who wondered how long it would be before he would jump back to the SEC after having success at Oregon. Some gave it three years, some gave it five years. I HAVE to believe that this move to a conference considered to be the closest in talent to the SEC would certainly be a factor in keeping him as the Ducks head coach for the foreseeable future. I get that assistants will leave for HC jobs or whatever but this move HAS to have an impact in coaching decisions. I would think of it as the best of several worlds. You get to play in a powerhouse conference that has had representation in 6 out of 9 playoffs, and last year they got in two teams. You get to live on the west coast. You get MASSIVE recognition from recruiting sectors that you may not have had inroads to before. You leave behind that mystique (right or wrong) of being in a "weaker" conference. While I don't know DL and am not inside his head, I would think that he may feel he just hit a proverbial lottery! On a confessive side note, I do tend to peruse the musing of the unhappy folks of the school to the north and they are discussing this exact issue but from a much different perspective. Why would Jonathan Smith stay? What about the assistants that may no longer be at a Power-5 school, will they leave (apparently a couple already have). This DOES matter, I am thankful that we are on what seems to be the correct side of the divide.
  6. Big Ten expansion: Power ranking each program’s value to the league BUCKEYESWIRE.USATODAY.COM It was a hard task, but we took a stab at it. #B1G They have Oregon ranked as the 5th best team in the B1G...I think we should be at 3 personally. I honestly don't know that much about Penn State, but I feel pretty confident we could swap places with Michigan and be fine...
  7. USC when DAT went to Oregon and USC a decade later:
  8. I think it's an indication of how self-absorbed those USC fans that they act like they are ALREADY playing in the B1G. Sorry guys, UofO gets there the same year you do...and I know that REALLY torques the lug nuts!! And before they go and hold up Jim Harbaugh as the moral police chief, perhaps that USC poster should read this article: Michigan's Jim Harbaugh working out four-game suspension with NCAA, per report WWW.GOOGLE.COM Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and the NCAA reportedly are working on a four-game suspension after he...
  9. Tremendous article from Stewart Mandel (love him or despise him) regarding how the CFKAPAC12 (Conference Formerly Known As PAC12) ended up at extinction. I will admit, there was some strong emotions when he talked about the ESPN Gameday coverage of that AWESOME game between Stanford and Oregon (Darron Thomas outdueled Andrew Luck and LaMike went OFF with 3TDs). The next few years seemed to be the pinnacle of PAC-12's rise, although no one knew it at the time. The conference WAS relevant, innovative, and cutting edge.... Fast forward to today (unless Mari0 is calling plays, then meander and shuffle) and Mandel lays the blame for this squarely on the shoulders of Larry Scott...and that's where it should be. Yes, Kliavkoff has a role to play. But Scott bears this. Mandel: Pac-12's cause of death is about gross failure of leadership THEATHLETIC.COM From Larry Scott to George Kliavkoff, here's how the Pac-12 fell apart amid mass departures to the Big Ten and...
  10. This post is from an aptly named site: angrybeavs.com Many other comments about how Oregon will be middle of the pack, etc. Kinda seems like the Beavs are "lashing out irrationally" because they see themselves falling into the "Independent" hole, or saddling up with the Mountain West. Lots of angst over there...makes them forget that Oregon went to Ohio State with an offense that the 50's would have been proud of and beat the Buckeyes...
  11. Jim Harbaugh is probably thinking, What the Heck?! I thought I got away from the Ducks when I left Stanford!! Now they are gonna destroy my playoff chances EVERY flipping year!!
  12. So, I would wonder if the PAC-whatever just folds and the remaining teams try and Oliver Twist (please sir, spare a crumb) into a new conference, or; maybe the Mountain West just absorbs those remaining programs of Oregon State, WSU, Cal, any Arizona teams left, and I don't know what Utah will do...
  13. Wait, to read all the you-dub fans, all four playoff spots are going to the huskies....so I'm not sure how anyone else is getting in.
  14. Hi folks, I am hoping to start a topic that is going to generate a lot of conversation. You may agree, disagree, feel that I need professional help (probably true there), but this has been something brewing in my mind since the spring game. Lets discuss the Oregon "O" side of the ball. First, some ground rules: I have done a deep dive into the best players at different positions for Oregon and nothing that I am discussing should be construed that I think we have the next DAT, or Ed Dickson, Gary Zimmerman, etc sitting on this roster. Those names are arguably some of the best players to ever put on a Duck jersey....and I know there are many more. The other thing that I am NOT doing is comparing players to former players. For instance, I'm not saying Bo Nix is MM, or Tez is Jeff Maehl. Rather, I am taking a look at the field of play from a 3,000 foot level to see the talent and skill levels available as A TEAM on the field. I am going to make the statement that at this moment in time; before injuries, potential additions/subtractions via the portal, or position changes take place; I have never been so excited about an offensive roster since LMJ and Kenyon Barner lined up in the backfield together or MM and DAT were together. I know that the offensive line had a bunch of turnover. I also know that the guys stepping up now received a lot of playing time last year to fill in for injuries and they are game veterans. Here is the main reason that I am so excited: Skill positions. The receiving core, running backs, and QB that this squad is going to step onto the field with may be the most talented AS A GROUP that Oregon has ever fielded. Okay, so this where I may hear the rumblings of "professional help". Again, I don't see DAT in the backfield in Irving or Whittington. I don't see Ed Dickson at the TE spot. What I do see are a group of guys that cumulatively have an incredible amount of talent and there is not a weak spot. DAT was a generational talent, it didn't matter what you did on defense; he could burn you. What this current roster has is highly skilled players at all positions. Is there a superstar? Maybe not. Will ANY of them burn a defense on a missed assignment? ABSOLUTELY. And THAT my friends, is where my excitement comes from. This offense is going to give opposing defenses nightmares. You need multiple lock-down corners to handle Franklin, Tez, Bryant Jr, Holden, Hutson, and Delgado. Okay, MAYBE you've got the skill players to do that. Sooo, do you have the skill at LB to handle an Irving or Whittington coming out of the backfield? I can say confidently that I do NOT see a defensive roster in the PAC that has this type of talent. And guess what, I've not even talked about Bo's ability to run. What I saw in Spring Game was a plethora of weapons for this offensive to utilize. Clearly, this does not account for incorrect routes, overthrown balls, etc. That is just part of football. But I feel that I can confidently say that for the first time in a LONG time, Oregon is putting out an offense that is going to take us back a decade or so to when the flash/dazzle/explosiveness would leave you shaking your head at how and why this team could do this. Exciting stuff. Let the conversation begin.
  15. Line Bryant up in the backfield for a possible swing or wheel route, with Tez in the slot...the defense is gonna wet themselves!!
  16. Former USC receiver Gary Bryant Jr. commits to transfer to Oregon Ducks WWW.GOOGLE.COM Bryant Jr. committed to transfer to Oregon on Saturday. He chose UO over Texas A&M.
  17. I heard that UW was headed to the Big Sky so that they could get a yearly chance to try to beat Montana.
  18. I heard that the jackpot was two cows and 4 dozen eggs.
  19. 😂😂😂.... bring on Tulane!! They are welcome anytime!
  20. Well, well, well... https://www.si.com/college/oregon/football/former-oregon-wr-mycah-pittman-announces-pac-12-destination He's gonna be a Ute.
  21. 247Sports No. 1 safety Anquon Fegans talks commitment to USC 247SPORTS.COM Lincoln Riley and the Trojans begin their 2025 class in a big way. USC is on an absolute mission! They know Tulane is out there....lurking....
  22. Not a lot of information in this article for many of the schools. Oregon had a huge crowd, but perhaps the most incredible stat is Colorado. That is completely the Prime effect, but what the heck, if it brings the Pac-12 more national attention, I'll take it. Pac-12 Football: Spring game attendance numbers for each school DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks had an estimated 45,000 fans in attendance at the spring game. How did that compare to...
  23. I always like watching how the veterans play and seeing their connections with each other. But my favorite part is seeing the new guys....I'll never forget that young MM kid busting through the line and running away from EVERYONE in a spring game. So, many of you have already touched on the main ones and I'll add three more: 1. Jordan Burch is a whole different speciman. Not sure where they got the DNA for that guy but good grief!! Dude can edge rush, cover a RB out of the backfield, and probably could return kicks! 2. Matayo Uiagalele is gonna be fun to watch. I can't wait to see how he develops. 3. This Bryce Boettcher kid was everywhere. Reminds me a lot of Brady Breeze but seems bigger. Lots of energy, passion, and he seems to love the game. Oh, and Patrick Herbert looks like he's beefed up quite a bit!
  24. Colorado players in transfer portal: Wave of Buffaloes exploring exit after Deion Sanders' spring game debut - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Two star wide receivers are among the Colorado players who've entered the transfer portal Their receiver, Lemonious-Craig would make a good addition. He's a junior this year and I'm sure he would love to win a few games! According to his Twitter, he's already got quite a few offers...including the agricultural school a little to the north.
  25. Tell you what, if the entire OBD forum shows up at Autzen this coming Saturday, we beat that crowd. Heck, if my whole family shows up, we'll beat that crowd!
