RatherBe's Very Cool Football Recruiting Map...
There is some delicious irony percolating in this post. 😄 Eh Mr. Frost? Thanks,David. And great piece of work, RatherBe.

Chili Duck Depth Chart
Thanks, Charles and Chili Duck. Great to have this. Should it be pinned? Also...Addison is placed now as a CB? Wow...a 6'5" CB. Does anyone know his 40 speed? Also, how long does Shough stay on the list...until he officially transfers somewhere?

Tyler Shough in the Transfer Portal
One thing to note...Oregon was at the max of 85 scholarship players. This news, while a little surprising that it involves a qb, opens up that one slot...for hopefully that ONE guy, Mr. JTT. Or...recruiting flexibility. And I thought we put a stick through that " not coaching up" idea. Different systems call for different play. The Duck coaches coach up their players just fine.

Oregon Women’s Basketball Searching for Identity
Thanks for the fine article, coach. I think your analysis and your strategic suggestions are spot on. I would only add one comment and also reinforce one of yours. As you suggest, Mikesell should not be playing PG. She makes the really obvious plays and leaves us scratching our heads over most of them. She has an abundance of talent...just not at PG. Second, the bigs, including Prince, do not seem very athletic. They frequently fumble with passes and look like they can be all thumbs on rebounds. (Sabally seems the most athletic of the bunch, however.) I don't know how to fix that. Hopefully I'm wrong ... and it was just the teams playing them that made them look a bit uncoordinated.

For the Fact-Checkers: Kenjon Barner and Evan Baylis are NOT in the BIG GAME
It is my belief that the offensive woes this past season do not strictly reside with the qb play nor the scheme. The o-line play was generally atrocious last year. There were far too many 'ole' moments for both tackles in particular. Getting bull rushed so frequently likely assisted in the erosion of Shough's confidence. Compare and contrast time to throw between the Ducks and Clemson or Alabama. I don't have the stats, but the difference is visible when reviewing games of the 3 teams. Lack of experience by the line certainly played an important role in the season's O. Let's hope the next year we have a full compliment of Spring and Fall camps...and a scrimmage or two. I look for vast improvement. Now....if we could just get a half-decent special teams scheme/performance......

Cardwell And Helton Reunited At Oregon
I went to high school a million years ago at another school in St. Augustine's league. They kicked our butts up and down the field. The school has a great reputation. I really like these two dudes.

Trading Places: Burrow Replaces Herbert at Oregon
I agree with 30Ducks. Comparing different team's qb's is akin to comparing ... well, Ducks to Tigers. They are both animals but live in different realms. The goal for everyone in football is to win. With Burrow at the helm of the Tigers, they had that generational season of 15-0 and Burrow thrived in the Brady system. The Ducks under Herbert's qb'ing, launched a 12-2 season. Did Herbert not thrive? Different qb's in different systems, on different teams with different players, in different leagues. Meaningful comparisons become a little lost. And To say Herbert wasn't "coached up" based upon Burrow's output or Herbert's professional vs. college systems stats is also subject to the same comparative folly. He was certainly "coached up" on the system he played in. To further the point, offensive systems certainly do vary from team to team...from OC to OC. But the goal is always to best utilize the TEAM as best as possible with the best available players. To try to slot players into systems where they fail to perform at their best or cannot master is likely a ticket to failure and Coordinator replacement. I know you all want to go back to the high flying Kelly offenses. It was SO entertaining. But, in my mind, this system is doing just fine with the players the Ducks have at hand. And for a little further proof...that great system at LSU packed a flopper of a 5-5 record last year. 5-5. Not so "coached up"?

Where's the BEEF with JT Tuimoloau?
A couple of Rivals voters just predicted JTT going to the Ducks. Has anyone heard any good gossip as to what may be afoot?
-
Whoa! Rivals Predicting TWO HUGE RECRUITS will Commit to the Ducks!
I recall reading that JTT and Korey Foreman were friends and talked about playing together. If that is true, then USC is a strong player for JTT.

Holy Crap! 2021 Team is STILL 72% Underclassmen?
Another problem with the class distribution as it stands is the imbalance and difficulties it will cause in recruiting in years going forward.

So let's take a look at Avantae Dickerson
Chico, Perkins has already committed to Missouri. What Nebraska CB? (Perkins is from Mississippi.)

Would Cristobal Learn from Andy Reid of Kansas City?
I'm riding with you on the Ashford dark horse...have been for a while. In my estimation he was the best qb in the Poly Bowl. Here is a quick peek at the young man... He just needs to learn to tuck the ball on his scrambles.

RatherBe, what a worthy post. Please start writing articles for the sister site. Many thanks for the information and entertainment. And I'm sure I'm not the first to ask...what would you rather be?

This is Fun...WHO was YOUR Quarterback...
Bob Berry...First Team All-American, Pro Bowl, Super Bowl, 12 year NFL career, grandfather. He had winning teams in all three years starting for the Ducks and Len C. He had some great targets in Mel Renfro and Dave Wilcox. Qb'ed for another Duck in the pros, Norm Van Brocklin. Not too shabby.

(FishDuck Article) "Fiesta Bowl Aftermath: What do Oregon Fans DO NOW?"
"There is an Eeyore type of fan that uses the forum as a place to vent. But this isn’t a therapist’s couch; go vent your anger about the Ducks somewhere else please! I have learned about the different forms of negative writing as some don’t go dark in their rantings and aren’t actually venting from anger but from an “I-told-you-so” continuous reminder. This firehose of negativity is equally off-putting to me." I think there is a mighty thin dividing line between critiquing the team and criticizing it. The dangerous bridge over those waters may be the constant and frequent irritation some fans feel for the pistol offense being used by the team. One could read here a lot of negativity and sneering at MC in particular for his choice in the matter. BUT...to me that means the fans are really into the team and pulling for better. Still, care needs to be taken with describing frustration over the offensive approach. I have suffered 4 heart attacks and survived Stage IV cancer. Perhaps you won't understand the depth of the following, but...each game I get to see...each season I get to enjoy, is rare, limited in number, and appreciated beyond belief, no matter the outcome. Sure, I want to Ducks to win in all sports, and am elated when that happens. But win or lose, I find it to be wonderful to have the experience of and appreciation for watching those young guys fight through years of effort, pain, and trial to bring the joy of sports to us all.

FishDuck Article: "A New Defensive Coordinator Brings New Opportunities"
Being twice old, I might not remember this correctly...but it seems to me that Avalos had the Ducks playing a much more aggressive defense in 2019. Blitzing and bump and run coverage was much more prevalent. This bend but not break reliance, and I'm NOT a fan, that was on display in 2020 was deflating to me as a fan. I'm guessing that the shortened camp and season had a lot to do with it. The techniques and schemes take time to learn and perform well.

Is it Time for a New Running Back Coach?
I was appreciating the variety of pass plays out of the set.

Is it Time for a New Running Back Coach?
I REALLY enjoyed how Alabama utilized the pistol in the championship game...and actually more than I expected.

FishDuck Article: "Can Ty Thompson Save Oregon Football?"
Folks are commenting on the overall depth chart of qb's...e.g. Ashford being 4th or 5th, etc. Can someone direct me to find the official list of Duck qb's in the charts? I have seen projected depth charts surmised by media writers before the season even started. But nothing ever official except for the top 2 during the season. Many thanks.
