  1. Thanks for all the great Duck baseball info Sir FishDuck. The bats are starting to light up and the battalion of arms starting and in the pen are putting Oregon in every game.
  2. Hopefully you are not 18 years old, 6'10'' with a 86" wingspan, 45" vertical leap and are 40+% from beyond the arc. 😎
  3. I think that the RBs and their coach would be the first to admit that what they are able to do depends on the skill of the OC to develop and call the right play, the QB to make the correct read and the O-line to create a gap to run through. If I had to choose between losing OC Stein, OL coach Terry and RB coach Locklyn, I suppose I would have to pick Lock. I'm not going to claim that the RB coach is not an important part of the offense. What Coach Lock brought to Oregon was high talent players like Bucky, Noah and James, taught them how to hold on to the football and have the right mindset and physical skills to succeed at a high level. Oregon's run game has been huge the last two years and he will be missed in Eugene. But I am confident that DL will find the right guy to come in and fill the shoes and hopefully have the recruiting chops as well.
  4. Nothing final on this yet but there is a lot of chatter and it seems most of the 24/7 crew believes it will happen. It would be a shame to lose Coach Lock, particularly to tOSU. His operational knowledge of Stein's offense would be a benefit to them. He develops RBs well and more importantly, they rarely turn the ball over. I'm sure DL has a list of potential replacements that will emphasize ball security, but no doubt about it, this is a bummer.
  5. Respect to OSU WBB for beating ND and advancing. Watching So. Carolina with PaoPao and Indiana with Sydney Parrish battle it out in their bracket. Pretty damn sad they felt they needed to leave Oregon to succeed. Sad but true.
  6. And a wise person once said, "The reason divorces are so expensive is because they're worth it. In a couple of years the butt hurt aggie crowd will heal enough so that after they have blown thru the current Pac2 settlement they will need cash. I'm then anticipating that even if the game formerly known as 'Civil War' continues to be played, it will be treated like playing Idaho or Montana and is always held at Autzen.
  7. Not to minimize Clark's achievements, but Sabrina would have brought a NC to Oregon if not for Covid. She was the groundbreaker for widespread acknowledgement of the quality of women's collegiate hoops and is the face of the WNBA. Sabs was tight with Kobe and his family and is tight with Steph Curry and countless other NBA players. That was earned. The 3 pt contest with Steph was must watch stuff. Clark may get there ultimately but isn't there yet. Unfortunately the media fixation with the shiniest new toy gives the impression that there can only be one transformative women's player at a time. Give Clark her due, and more power to her, but Sabrina is the GOAT.
  8. Oh wait, wait, isn't it now SEC 0-3. 3rd seed Kentucky sent home by 14 seed Oakland. Joining Miss St and So. Carolina.
  9. This episode is certainly the darker side of the wild west of the portal and NIL. It really sucks from the Hawkeye perspective but may even be an issue down the line for DeBoer and Bama given how squirrely this looks for Proctor's character. The Oregon upside is that the Ducks had some interest in him out of the portal. It could have been OBD with facial egg instead of Iowa. No one needs that kind of locker room drama. Not that Proctor would have been a critical get as the Ducks are just fine at OT this year, thank you very much. He wouldn't necessarily have turned the miserable Hawkeye offense around either, but he is talented and now not a problem for B1G DCs to scheme for. I'll look forward to Josh Pate's prediction about more portal lunacy to come.
  10. First line has Oregon a 1.5 pt dog to USC (not those spoiled children). Imagine if they play the same level of defense, feed Dante inside and hit just three more 3pt shots than they did against Colorado. Filling in my bracket for a Duck win
  11. Last 3 minutes Oregon didn't attempt a 3pt shot. Would have loved to have been a fly on the clipboard at the TOs. DA harping on everyone, "Guys, the 3 ain't falling. Get inside, feed N'Faly, get in the paint and make 'em foul. Play the defense you know how to play and don't give them clean looks behind the arc. Make those free throws. Anyone jacking up a trey gets to walk home."
  12. Looks like they punched that ticket. Ducks 75-68. And they couldn't buy a 3 point shot. Just bada** defense and Dante not missing a shot
  13. True, but Oregon just beat a probable NCAA 2 seed. I agree that the best case is to win the Pac-12 tournament final tomorrow and get the automatic.
  14. Have it on DVR so I'll watch it tonight when able. Did the Ducks just punch their ticket for an at large to the Dance?
  15. Oregon Football: News and notes from Ducks first practice of the year DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Some major news and notes from the Oregon Ducks’ first spring football practice of the... A similar take from the folks at Duck's Wire.
  16. Oregon Football Spring Camp Updates: Practice 1 247SPORTS.COM Oregon football opened its 2024 spring camp on Thursday morning with the first of 15... Early coverage of this morning's first practice. Not much detail other than personnel in attendance, a few drills and new jersey numbers (an adjacent 24/7 article). What stood out is that Florence is not yet practicing with the DBs and that high end transfers WR Stewart and DB Muhammad were absent and not yet enrolled. More in the article worth looking at as well. Somewhat disappointed to see that Pancho's older brother Faaope and OL Wooten weren't on the official roster and presumed off the team. I figured Faaope would be a backup at OT but it now looks like he will hit the portal instead. That said, it's exciting to see the 2024 season get going. Looking forward to the spring game in 6 weeks.
  17. 49ers to release DL Arik Armstead after sides unable to agree on restructured contract, per report - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Armstead will play somewhere else for the first time Looks pretty certain. The article mentions Cincinnati as a landing spot but I wonder if the Chargers have the cap space.
  18. Great for the Ducks to take the series in Tempe. Walsh is now coming through with his bat. While starting pitching is still an issue, the bullpen has plenty of fresh arms and Oregon fights back from the early deficits. The Oregon bats are starting to come to life. Thursday's Duck Insider pointed out that between Heard (.414 BA) Boettcher (.333), Aroz (.423) and Cassella (.259) there are four solid hitting OFs that play good defense. Three home series with Cal, Arizona and Seattle are next up.
  19. NBA All-Star Weekend: Stephen Curry wins unprecedented 3-point contest against Sabrina Ionescu SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The highly anticipated competition didn't disappoint. Both are GOATs and Steph won this battle. So good for women's hoop. A bit of sunshine in a tough year for Oregon WBB.
  20. ATQ's Hythloday1 does a very good job of breaking down Moore's tape and exposing both the good and bad of his freshman year. Spectacular arm strength, delivery and accuracy with fixable read and progression issues that you would expect from a first year QB. CK, with all of his past offensive innovation, really didn't modify his offense enough to train Moore up and did him no favors with the gawdawful O-line UCLA fielded last year. As a former QB, Stein will tweak the offensive scheme for Gabriel this year and as needed in 2025 for Moore's skill set. Not discounting Novosad out of hand, Moore has to win the job first. Looking at the ATQ film study though, Moore is mechanically the far superior talent and the right system, elite O-line and skill players around him will make Oregon the best B1G offense in 2025.
  21. I respectfully disagree and just say to give it time. PP had great talent surrounding him on that Final Four team: Brooks, Bell, Dorsey, Ennis and Boucher. As a freshman he didn't need to score much, just learn to be a floor general at the point and run Altman's offense. Brooks was the 'assassin' on that team and Bell the inside enforcer. It wasn't all on Pritchard's shoulders to carry the team like he did as a junior and senior. Shelstad is in a trial by fire situation with this Duck team and aside from Cousinard and Dante, doesn't have the weapons PP had. If Evans and Bittle return and stay healthy, if Altman can fill in the big man gap when Dante departs and if two or three other shooters can be found via the portal or developed internally, JS will be able to refine his own game. Aside from the Steph Currys of the world, PGs usually don't lead their teams in scoring and I don't expect JS to. Their job is to be a big enough scoring threat to keep defenses honest and allow the offense to flow through them. PP managed to be a big scorer his last two years at Oregon in large part because he had to while still distributing the ball to others. I have been very impressed by the flashes of great play that Shelstad has exhibited at such an early stage. He has all the tools and should develop just fine. I anticipate a big year two leap in production.
  22. Like Arte Johnson used to say on Laugh In, "verrry interesting". Georgia would be sponsored by the Falcons. Fans would get the added bonus of having the Falcons actually play the Bulldogs in the preseason. Given how the Dirty Birds have been the last several seasons, Vegas would have the Dawgs by a FG.
  23. Like most old boomers, I am '"who cares" neutral on the Swift-Kelce issue. Marilyn Monroe-Joe DiMaggio for the social media age. Best of luck to them but Vegas has a running book on how long the relationship will last. The NFL would be fools to not capitalize on it for the SB. Ad costs for a 30 sec spot already run at $7M a pop. Those eyeballs are guaranteed as companies are willing to unveil their best ad campaigns and pony up the bucks. The Swifties impact will be known soon after the game when viewer numbers are released. If the Chiefs pull off the win don't be surprised to see Kelce and Swift, arm in arm, looking into the camera saying "We're going to Disneyland... to buy it!"
