Jackson Shelstad Returning to Oregon Ducks, Skipping NBA Draft
JDuck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Is he even close to ready? Would he even get drafted? Seems like a no-brainer -

The Empire Strikes Back: USC Flips Oregon 2026 QB Commit Jonas Williams
JDuck replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Williams will be comfortable in college with 6-6, 7-5 seasons, 8-4 if the Trojans really get it together -
Is it that he could be a stalwart at the Lanning 4-2-5 Mint defense STAR position? Isn't that, a big time edge rusher, and an athletic elite ILB the 3 keys to this defense to work really well?

Rebuilding Oregon’s Offense for 2025: The Passing Game
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Reading this thread and the RB article...I wonder if the O-line isn't really the key? I'm cautiously optimistic '25 will be a lot better. The "lighting" at RB to go with thunder is a good point, the Tulane transfer and Riggs, and the incoming freshmen RB's may have it. Taller QB Moore with Evans/Moore at WR and others might not be 2019 LSU but if Stein can grow, that element could be huge for '25. TE is a ? but the talent on D should be growing. Lanning will handle Tosh, Schedule is more favorable (don't overlook 1-AA runner up MSU!) '25 could be great! -
QUAAACK! No. 1 Portal RB, Makhi Hughes, Commits to Oregon!
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hughes and Riggs could be a sneaky good 1-2; Stewart, incoming WRs; O Line maybe better than we project; Moore at QB. Secondary could be sneaky good with portal and if 5* kids step up early. D Line and LB are biggest questions, and TE. Matayo is back! Several good to great recruiting classes in a row...are they coached up and ready? Young names we don't know well yet...fill those gaps? Lanning, Stein, Lupoi...do they really have the chops? I think the grass is greener than we think -
Well, That Sucks. Post-Game Discussion...
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Willie sorta upped recruiting, Mari a lot more...now DL and crew are at the top. Last part of the equation...can they coach them up to the Kirby/Saban level? Another year or two and we can be at that level. If they develop them. Are the X/Os adequate? Is the Stein plethora of passes that are completed behind the line of scrimmage going to get us there? Is the O-line the weak link right now? Will Dante Moore fix some of this? Talent coming in is stellar, if they grow up quick '25 could be good, '26... -
Just glad Mari and neon both lost

A Championship Game in the Quarterfinals is Dumb
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Top 4 conference champs guaranteed a spot...but not the top 4 seeds and a bye. ASU and BSU??? Really? -
Texas looks tough, maybe just Clemson is ranked appropriately worse than Indiana and SMU

GameDay Thread of Notre Dame vs. Indiana!
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Wishful thinking on my part, so much for an upset. Is notre dumb actually good or IU over rated? Just a bad match up? A bunch of ES(EC)PN picks have Oregon over ND in the final, or Oregon over GA -

Oregon Football: Meet Dillon Thieneman
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This was only Lanning's 3rd season. Mari recruited a lot of high talent but many were not a good fit (Noah Swewell???). The traditional prep signings are high level, but takes time to develop. I think we'll see fewer portal additions this year than the last 2, and more of the traditional prep recruits being the mainstays of the roster going forward. Keep up the top 5 classes every year (DL will) and the portal will be more of a tool to plug a few holes with proven veterans, not every position group. 5* will be common in the future -
2025 B1G Recruiting: Elite Results, and Then a Cliff…
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The cliff makes our conference schedule easier year to year. We've had good O-lines, getting a 5* or two there would be nice, but Penei was only 4 stars...4* developed is just as good, some 5* players never pan out...Lache Seastrunk, or the DT from Hawaii who played what, 4 snaps as a Duck? Our D-line quality and depth right now is why we are #1 and have a good chance to be #1 on January 21st, the only date this season where a ranking matters. Getting at least 1 5* on D-line a year is my biggest recruiting want -
At least there is green. The Oakland Raiders uni against the muttpupps were yuck
