  1. Oregon being the reason the PAC folds is insane. Oregon is the only reason at this point the PAC has held on this long. In a few days if Arizona is indeed gone, Utah is gone, maybe ASU... Will it still be Oregon's fault? The PAC's indecisiveness over and over again when the opportunity for positive expansion was there, when markets like Houston were open for business, when the Big 12 was vulnerable to being raided by the PAC rather than the other way around is ultimately what has killed the PAC. When the LA schools left the handwriting was on the wall. It's really only been Oregon holding things together since. to blame Oregon now... No way!
  2. Ironically they may be ruining the product they are buying. If this continues, I will be watching a lot less college football on television, streaming or in any other way. The Ducks are my team, but past them? No, no more.
  3. If the Apple deal is all there is I agree with him, but Finebaum has a track record of wishing nothing but ill will to the PAC and Oregon in particular. Here's hoping that the Apple "part" of the deal is only about half of it and we know sooner rather than later. If not there may not be much of a PAC conference to make a deal with. And that would be a sad, sad day in my book, even if Oregon does fine anyway.
  4. this is one I've been hoping for, not just because I remember his dad playing for Oregon, but because I think he is going to be very, very good! Four star sophs often end up being five star seniors. I see that happening with Akili. He has all the tools needed, size, arm strength, mobility... he looks great on film already. I have little doubt he'll be one of the top two or three QBs coming out his senior year. Welcome aboard young man.
  5. Let's see what he does this year. Looks like a two sport+ guy, maybe concentrating only on football will develop him into a top talent. Just speculating. 6'5" 250, if he can run, catch and block, that could be a pretty good tight end.
  6. And Arizona is making noise like they are already gone. If that can be delayed and the media deal is indeed good enough for them and the others the B12 is trying to poach to stay, there's a chance.
  7. Problem is, if it does not come to light soon, the PAC may soon consist of 7 schools. What media outlets are going to sign on for that? I agree with Lanning Colorado wasn't a giant loss, media market or not how many people actually watched their games. If UA and ASU go? It's going to be tough to make a viable P5 conference from what is left and the schools that might be picked up. Past SDSU and SMU who is there? I've heard Boise, that's a marginally good fit. Utah State? Logan is not exactly a giant market, though their ADep seems pretty healthy. Is the Pace going to be in position to poach any teams from the Big 12 now, I doubt it. It's going the other direction. Dang, I'm usually a positive, optimistic type, but this is hard.
  8. I'm good with 50 each on Colorado, USC and UCLA. A good parting gift!
  9. Yep! Let's forget all the NIL, the conference re-alignment etc. and just get on with some football! Go Ducks!
  10. yes, this is the point I made elsewhere, Colorado is not a big loss. UA and ASU can't follow though. If so Oregon has to go B1G or Big 12, as much as I HATE that.
  11. Okay, I went on vacation for a few weeks, thinking the PAC had a pretty good media deal to be announced soon and I come back and Colorado is leaving and everyone is saying the sky is falling. Can't you folks take care of things for me for just a few weeks.LOL Seriously, a few questions. What has happened to the media deal? If Colorado is the only one to go, is it that big a loss? If no one else leaves, would Oregon be any better off in the Big 12 as the PAC? I really don't know the answers to these questions. I guess we'll all find out soon. I'm hoping the PAC survives with Oregon in it. The Big slow and ugly 10 is just that and once Texas and OK are gone the Big 12 is not all that impressive.
  12. Depth helps as the season wears on and as others have said in late game for fresh legs. Also, hoping this doesn't happen, but two twisted knees (even not series injuries) and we need every bit of that depth.
  13. I actually already have a commitment, but probably wouldn't be able to make it anyway. I'm wondering if there could be some regional meet up, maybe to watch some games together. I'm near Dayton, Ohio for at least one more season. Anyone reasonably close by?
  14. Except for 2.5 years in Portland, I haven't lived any further west than Louisville, KY. In my experience the east coast bias is big and like most bias comes from ignorance. Yes, the late starting times of games with the time difference has something to do with it, but simple regional probably has more. More exposure to west coast games might help, but the east coast also views folks out west as a little too laid back, even cooky (Bill Walton is exhibit A for some folks back here). When I think of the crazy pace of much east coast life, maybe the east coast is the wacky coast, but I digress. Sports wise the west coast is not viewed as being tough enough or serious enough. If that is to change, the best games in the PAC need to start at noon or 1pm PST. I know night games live are lots of fun, but that excitement won't translate to east coast folks yawning because it is passed our bed time. I'll stay up late to watch the Ducks, but most won't.
  15. Yeah, he plays for a really good team in a really good league. There are D1 players plenty on both sides of the ball almost every game there. What you see in those high lights is against good competition.
  16. The difference between these games and these teams coming to Eugene is other than Alabama all of these SEC team are LIKELY TO LOSE at Autzen and Alabama probably doesn't have much more than a 50/50 chance of winning. All of these SEC team with maybe the exception of Auburn will be favored to win these games on the road. They don't want to come to Oregon because they don't want to go home with an L. Now I hope they all go home with their tails tucked between their legs, whimpering after a loss out west, but playing at Colorado, Cal and Arizona is a lot different from playing at Oregon.
  17. Thanks, DT was one of a kind. Hope this helps PA Duck get better. Sure made me feel good watching.
  18. I think the difference in many of these match ups is not going to be who wins the QB duel, but what defense is best positioned to at least slow some of these QBs down. My hope is Oregon has bulked up in the secondary, linebacker coverage and pass rush enough to be a team that can do that. We'll see how things come together on the D. But it looks like Lanning has made some moves and gotten some portal guys that will improve the D in those three areas. I don't think anyone is going to totally shut down any of those guys, but making it hard on them by tight coverage and pass rush enough to slow them down some will make a big difference.
  19. I know of one football player who had no trouble transferring from an SEC school to an ACC school, but then had trouble at the new school because they wouldn't accept many of the credits he had earned at the SEC school. Ended up in D2 to remain eligible.
  20. Who are you going to count on if Bo is hurt? Ty is probably the best at least until Novosad learns the offense and adjusts to the college game better. I still have a feeling Ty is going to surprise a lot of people if Bo is out for a few games and Ty is given the reigns even for a few games. Then he gets the #1 reps in practice and the game plan is built around him and his abilities. I don't think we've even come close to seeing his ceiling at this point. In mop up time, give them both some run, but I'd focus on Ty at least early on.
  21. Great news, not just because he's a legacy player, but this kid has scary good potential. Big, strong, fast and even as a soph. makes both the throws that need a strong arm and the touch throws. He's good at avoiding a rush and runs to pass more than as a rusher, but is a good runner if he needs to be.
  22. Praying for PA Duck, healing a a full recovery.
  23. To this point I would compare Ty's experience to that of a student driver training in a simulator. Until you give him the keys to the car, it's hard to tell how well he will drive. My hope is that will not need to happen this year, since that would mean Nix is out with an injury. But if called upon, game planned for his skills, getting starter reps in practice, and stepping onto the field as the QB, at least for a game or two, he just may surprise us all.
  24. While KP is a good tool, a lot of teams lower ranked in KP have won games in this tourney. Eye test says UConn wins too, but the game hasn't been played yet. Once they throw the ball up, who knows. In anycase, SDSU has just shown one more reason they are ready for a PAC invite. It's a bit overdue actually.
  25. SDSU vs FAU, all mid-major semi-final. For a mid-major basketball fan (sorry, Duck football fan, VCU basketball fan) it could only be better than that if they were playing in the final.
