I'll await judgement on that after I see the outcome of this one in Tucson and the next one in Eugene. But yeah, they've learned how to light up the score board all right. Kelly's system is beginning to bear fruit.
-
Yeah ... Kelly has them rollin' and we all know what that can mean.
-
On the road you take the ball if you win the toss. I hope they win it and take the opening drive 75 yards for the games first score. Then go from there-

I don't think anyone ever thought Dilly sucks. We were wondering about things during that red zone spell, but tonight the Ducks have a chance to show they've put the behind them and try to move up the list to #2 or #1 in red zone offense. Meanwhile, Washington trails ASU by 14 late in the 3rd.

Late 3rd qtr and ASU leads Washington 38-24. 1-4 leads 4-1. Let this be a warning Oregon

Ducks vs Arizona: Game-Prep Article Thread
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'd like to respond to these two: 2. Flowe's return would be the most welcome, of course. O's defense needs him. Cardwell, not so important. Good as he is, Oregon is DEEP at RB. 5. The discipline had better be there because this is a road game to a sold-out stadium. Can Lanning turns things around that fast? I doubt it but I hope so. Could be crucial. GO OREGON! -
Let’s Give Arizona Back to its Original Owners

I hope Haywarduck is right with this one. Az does sport the Conference's best DB and he's back from injury finally. And we all know how Nix can sometimes make a bad throw... I hope he continues with the running portion of his contribution to yardage. -
Who Is Facing the Most Pressure in the Pac-12 After 5 Weeks?
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes he was, I had forgotten that Charles. But then this begs the question "why wasn't Dorrell on the list?" -
While perusing the Media Notes for tonight's game in Tucson I learned that Oregon (despite all these red zone woes) currently leads the Pac-12 in red zone TD's and is tied for 3rd in the nation. Imagine where they'd be sitting if they had not struggled to get in the end zone against WSU & Stanford?

Who Is Facing the Most Pressure in the Pac-12 After 5 Weeks?
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The HC of Colorado (Mike Sanford) not on this list? I know it's his first year but ask yourself how would Lanning (or Dickert, or DeBoer) be faring if they were 0-5? OK, it's not quite the same thing because of the talent gap twixt O, WSU, UW and CU, but still ... -

Alan brings fun to the sport and helps us to see it in a proper light. These are a hoot to read. Thanks for posting this Charles. -

Oregon 42-28, 2 T.O.'s 2 Sacks 300 yards passing GO OREGON! -
One thing for sure SoDawg, there is currently a very wide variety to choose from. Oregon, being (Phil) Knight U, serves as Nike's run-way models for collegiate uniforms. But most especially, the football uniforms and swag.

Bucky Irving Emerging as Lead Back for the Ducks
Mic replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Dunno, but it's an ideal name for this young man once you see him run. Oregon won the transfer lottery the day this kid picked the Ducks, imo. It's a great football name, don't you think? -
My nephew in Minnesota favors the grey hat with the diamond-plate bill and black O. It was a very limited edition hat that hasn't been offered in recent years but it was the best looking Duck hat I ever saw. I bought him and I each one. Mine ended up in the Grand Canyon last fall when it blew off my stupid head because I refused to take it off knowing the winds were gusting at 30 mph that day. The canyon gods are wearing it now.

Report: Pac-12 Fails To Reach Deal With ESPN, Fox Sports
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I won't pretend to understand any of this but in my gut - I have a bad feeling. If all the games of all the Pac-12 teams go up for bid who knows how many different streaming services a viewer is going to have to subscribe to so they can watch their team play. Right now I have Sling Orange, Sling Blue, Fubo and ESPN app just to (hopefully) see all the college games I want. This is not only getting expensive, it's getting darn near un-manageable and difficult to keep track of. I miss the days when NBC, CBS and ABC (all on one cable service) had all the best college games and they never buffered, pixelated or dropped out suddenly for no reason. I know we will never go back to those days but streaming (for me) hasn't exactly been a quantum leap forward either. -
What Grade Should Lanning Receive So Far As Head Coach?
Mic replied to HawaiiDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's right, they struggled against a pretty game OSU defense. The Trojans might just be a bit of a paper tiger against a big, strong physical smash-mouth team. the Beavers aren't that, but they were more physical than the Trojans were prepared for. To me, the University of Southern California Trojans have always been a 'prima donna' team. When things are going their way, watch out! When the 1st sign of trouble seeps in and they get a couple of bad breaks they can fall apart faster than wet graham crackers. They've been a mentally fragile team for decades. Oregon, sadly, has exhibited some of the same characteristics in recent years. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Trap Game in the Desert?
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Red zone. Ah, yes. Not been very good against good teams. Going back and re-watching the last game I noticed that almost half the reason why they continued to struggle there against Stanford was due to penalties. That can get cleaned up, but if the O-line can't get the snap count right in Autzen will they be able to get it right in Tucson with a stadium full of screaming fans? -

Games "we need" scare me. Of course, you're right in saying that because we do need to see if O can stop the passing attack of Jake DeLaura and his talented WR's. If O can't they won't be winning the Pac-12 this year nor (possibly) a decent bowl game if the opponent can throw it long as well. O still doesn't seem to have the pass rush they need to help the secondary out, though they did get 3 sacks against Stanford. -
Canzano: Hate for Pac-12 Networks Could Turn to Love
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well... it's a pretty good article and worthy of a look, all right. Something has to be done about the late-night starting times for Pac-12 games and this might be a solution. I was pretty much in agreement with Canzano (not always the case). -
What Grade Should Lanning Receive So Far As Head Coach?
Mic replied to HawaiiDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Defensive issues are Lupoi's single, primary responsibility and Lanning's secondary one. I'd absolutely agree with you if it weren't that the head coach is tasked with leaning on his O.C. for offense and his D.C. for defense while he runs the overall program. If I had one knock (besides discipline issues) on Dan Lanning I'd have to point to Tosh Lupoi as his choice for D.C. However, I believe Lanning firmly believes in him so I'll try too as well. And you're also absolutely right, we are only 5 games into Lanning's 1st season. 4-1 isn't bad given the schedule they've played so far. -
Bucky Irving Emerging as Lead Back for the Ducks
Mic replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Getting back to the subject of this thread (and responding to Charles' observation on the performance of the O-Line) Bucky has shown repeated ability to turn a busted play (hole stuffed) into a big gainer by his quick field reversal and tackle breaking abilities. Effort, as Coach Locklyn stresses. The O-line does open holes for him, but not every time. He still manages to get + yardage when things break down. Nor does he waste a good block. The old saying "A good O-line makes a good RB" could also be turned around to say "A good RB can help a good O-line look even better". -

On an 'A-F' basis I'd say B+ to A-. His team has been exhibiting disciplinary issues which have actually accelerated of late. This is about the only complaint I can think of - but it's an important one. -

Gads, I like this coach. If I had a young son playing football I'd want this man teaching and mentoring him. I think we talked about this a few weeks ago. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Trap Game in the Desert?

But just think how an 11-0 Beaver team, losing to an 11-0 Duck team (11-1 vs 12-0) would help the Ducks. No other team in the Pac-N could challenge for the Championship. Not to mention the two teams would both be ranked very high and the winner (O) catapulted even higher. Pure speculation - probably never happen - but it could!
