BREAKING: 4-Star WR Jordan Anderson Decommits from Oregon
Mic replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
THIS is why I don't get overly excited when a recruit "commits". Things are so fluid nowadays in the CFB.... -
Husky Hackers Hate OBD Forum and are STUNNED...

Let 'em gloat. It won't last. The we can gloat. -
Too bad he isn't about 4" taller. That said, he has ability, that's for sure. I wonder now what might happen to Thompson & Novasad? Transfer Portal?
-
Just a gut feeling but I think Nix might surprise all three. Reason: his football I.Q. and his obvious understanding of the game and how to assess defenses. In the NFL the hardest thing for Rookies to adjust to is the speed of the game. Nix is already almost up to speed, more so maybe than the other three. I think Nix could be brought to the NFL level faster than the others.

I'm only looking at this from the fan side of things, not the $$ side. That, I know very little about and expect the courts will have their say about that. If Stanford or USC and Notre Dame can make a tradition of their rivalries (which never involved conference play because ND was never in one) why not OSU-UO? That was my only point.

The NCAA Faces Reality from the Wall Street Journal
Mic replied to Santa Rosa Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I must be a real outlier and ancient fossil. I loathe the death of amateurism. But, let's face it; it's been coming for a very long time. Anyone remember the Soviet Red Army competing in the Olympics? Or the Russian "females" who weren't really? (Who knew the Russians would be on the cutting edge of societal revolution instead of just political revolution?). Who cares anymore, anyway? It's about Championships. -
2023 Oregon Football: Agree on These Reflections?
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
With all your proverbial wit intact. Nicely done, Jon. Welcome aboard the FishDuck express. -
I'm trying to ignore them as much as possible. The TP is one of the MAJOR things wrong with the direction the NCAA collegiate sport is headed. It's not going to get any better going forward. Collegiate amateurism is dying on the vine and almost no one seems to care.

5-Star OT Jordan Seaton Announces Surprise College Commitment
Mic replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I can only imagine what type of NIL deal this person obtained from Colorado. Otherwise, why go there? -
By "spring for season tickets" I think you mean season tickets for Ducks football games, no? That's what I'd opt for. More bang for the buck.

Now that's a Christmas sweater! (Scoopduck Daily's post above)

Me. This. Tough game or not - I don't like seeing 125 year old traditions die because of conference realignments.

I'm trending on agreement here. Next season we get our first REAL good look at his future as the Duck's starting QB. But I wouldn't be adverse to seeing someone like Bo coming in to compete for the starting role against Ty and Austin both. Oregon has a favorable 1st-year schedule in this new league they've entered. Must not waste it.
-
Bo was easily the best jewel mined from the Transfer Portal for Oregon. Happy to hear he won the award for the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year (announced on KPNW this morning) and I hope it transfers (pun intended) to the selection Saturday evening in NY. Good luck Bo!

Oregon Ducks Cornerback Trikweze Bridges Enters the Transfer Portal
Mic replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
KPNW radio reported this morning that there are currently 1,184 athletes who have entered the transfer portal so far. This is > 400 more than at this same time last year. According to SportsDefinitions.com under the 85/25 rule college teams are allowed to have up to 85 scholarship players and up to 25 "others". The average number of players on collegiate football teams today are 118. This means there are enough athletes in the transfer portal to fully man 10 teams at the current average, or 14 teams at the 85 scholarship limit. Interestingly, the minimum number of players for a collegiate team is 63. So, 1,184 players in the portal could man almost 19 teams. Think of that! -
You know, with all the transfers out and all the possible no-starts for some of the 1's this is starting to look like a trap game. I mean, the Flames are gonna be at or near 100% with morale thru the roof. Yeah, the Ducks should win, but should doesn't cut it once the game starts. I don't know whether to watch the game Live or just record it and wait to see it later, after the results are in! GO DUCKS!

Oregon Ducks Cornerback Trikweze Bridges Enters the Transfer Portal
Mic replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Holy Cow! The Transfer Portal's sucking the juice out of Oregon. -
If you haven't heard yet, Gulbranson's still available and will get the start. I kinda feel sorry for them, Notre Dame's getting them at their absolute lowest morale point, probably. No Johnathan Stewart, no Damien Martinez, no D.J. Ulagalelei and having just been gob-smacked by the Ducks. My dislike for Notre Dame is exceeded only by my dislike for USC and now UW. So, I want them to win - but they're gonna get gob-smacked again.
-
If we're going to question whether or not the difference between these two teams might be the coaches then consider this: Oregon came out to start the game and went 0-3, no 1st downs on their first two positions. UW got their 1st possession and scored to get the lead. UW had scripted a better defense to stop O's offense than O was able to script a defense to stop theirs. The Huskies were better prepared to start the game than the Ducks. That's obvious. Later, the Ducks, after making adjustments both offensively and defensively clawed their way back into the game to actually take their one lead. UW made their adjustments and finished the game out. So, there's that. It seems to me if the Ducks were out-coached it was only by a whisker. We move on. There's a bowl game to win in January.
-
Given the talent levels of both teams and the 3 different sites of each game, the difference in this rivalry right now might be one of DeBoer's much greater experience. It would be a very hard thing to correlate but I still like O's coach and think O is in good hands.
-
Yep. It's still regarded as probably their best bowl win in the modern era. And I loved it then as I'd love to see it again now. But, sadly, I kinda expect ND to prevail in this one. Maybe not if JS was still coaching them and Damien Martinez were able to play.
-
Good for you Annie! I wholeheartedly agree. GO DUCKS!

Another player I just can't get enthused about is Cam Ward. Not that he's not a good QB. I just don't see this as a good fit.
