  1. He looks to me like he's only halfway into the game, mind-wise, too. His best 'look' was on the one deep throw he made to the end zone: the ball was thrown on a rope, a tight spiral. The problem was it was off target, too far ahead for the receiver to catch up. Maybe (!) if he enters the game when it's actually a game on the line for the ducks and he has to pull O out of the fire ? I just don't know.
  2. It cost them at least one TD, the 1st one, when they had it overturned and had to kick the FG instead. Just when I thought they might have ironed out the red zone wrinkles, the get 3 points instead of 7.
  3. Top photo shows the ugliest uniforms O has ever sported, imo. O should handle Arizona but at this stage I really don't know anymore. Crazy talent on this team, lousy discipline and sometimes puzzlingly bad execution. One gets a feeling this team is performing at about 75% of its capability. Red zone offense is very worrisome. Maybe they'll play better away from home?
  4. Yeah penalties are a problem. A serious problem! Oregon needs to get this under control soon. Eventually, it's gonna cost them an important game.
  5. TT doesn't appear to me to be anywhere near ready to play football at the collegiate level. Not once this year, when appearing in a game, has he looked anything like a 5* QB. As things look now, Bo Nix was a God-send to the Oregon program or Lanning and company may be looking at a 2-3 start (or worse) instead of a 4-1 start.
  6. No, Red Zone offense has been a big worry and long with an incredible amount of needless penalties, this team still has a long way to go before it's a championship-caliber team, imo.
  7. First of all: congratulations to the Ducks for more-or-less handling the Stanford Cardinal last night. Bo Nix looked terrific after a very slow start in the 1st qtr. How many penalties did the Ducks end up with? I lost count at 13 (and that's just the ones accepted)! What's happened to this team - discipline wise? There were too many false starts for one - and this was a Home game. The rest were just crazy frequent. Is the Head Coach to blame for this?
  8. Or Wilcox & Sirmon's boys are tougher than we think?
  9. Punts have been crucial in more games than we could ever imagine - which is why I don't think it will entirely die - it can't. But it certainly has diminished from what it once was. I had a bota-bag once, back in my hippie-dippy days when glass just wasn't an option at concerts and the like. I don't suppose they allow that sort of thing in Autzen anymore, do they? Pity.
  10. Alas, age creeps up on ya...
  11. God bless you, Mr. Koke and thanks for the chilling, thrilling entrance to all those home games you gave the team and fans! Ride On!
  12. So, Charles, what do U do with all these wishful thinking predictions of ours, anyway? Does the winner get lunch served at the Hatfield-Dowling?
  13. In that case I want you to want that I find a $ million in my bank account tomorrow morning! I promise to share some!
  14. Yes and I hope more fans here will take the time to read the article. It's a hoot!
  15. There will still be times when the punt is crucial, but boy! It's really diminished from the game from just 5-10 years ago. More and more coaches are "going for it" on 4th down and many are getting so successful at it that I think it's more than just a trend. Lanning himself went for one on his own 34 yard line in the 1st qtr recently (thankfully getting the 1st). Just another indication that our old coach (Kelly) was perhaps a trend-setter when back at Oregon. His concepts of what a collegiate Offense should be is continuing to change the game I think. I'd really be curious to see how the total number of punts/game and number per/season has changed. I can hardly remember a game recently where we haven't seen one or both teams disdain the punt and go for it. It used to be so uncommon, but not anymore!
  16. Someone with a lot more research skills than myself can do the checking if they like but it seems to me that more college teams in America are disdaining the punting game and going for the 1st down on 4th downs. It doesn't seem to matter what part of the field or what quarter in the game (Lanning & the Ducks are just one example, OSU today against Utah another). Sadly for the Beavs, after making a huge 1st down on a 4th & 6 in the 4th they gave up another (3rd) interception almost immediately after. Utah just put the game away with the pick, but OSU was about to possibly tie the game until this happened. Today's coaches don't want to give the ball away anymore, not with 40-60 points being scored by today's offenses.
  17. Ducks 45-24 Turnovers: 2 for Stanford, 1 for Oregon Sacks: 5 for Oregon, 1 for Stanford Passing; 375 for Oregon 275 for Stanford
  18. I just loved this line from the above article. Heck, I loved them all: "Drubbing those pompous know-it-alls by six touchdowns is a good beginning, but after the game, I’m all in favor of chasing the whole Stanford entourage out of Autzen Stadium and into the Willamette National Forest."
  19. I didn't even make it that far - wanting the Huskies to lose before it even started. And I'm not a fan of UCLA, either. Typical of a Husky, did you see the intentional trip in the 1st qtr by a Husky as the Bruin runner was about to make a sprint to the house? LOL That's not hustling, that's : "sh_t! Beat on the play and he's gonna score!"
  20. Yep, but if this UW team is the one that beat them convincingly, then either there were severe matchup problems or the Furd is gonna struggle this year to make 500. Of course, one should never count chickens before the hatch. And Oregon needs to play lights out tomorrow night.
  21. Either Michigan State & Stanford are incredibly over-rated or UCLA is off to the races and heading for a nice ranking. The difference tonight between these two teams is stark.
  22. It's 3 minutes into the 2nd Half and I think UDub has lost its luster rather quickly.
  23. Game, Set, Match.
  24. DTR is having himself a game tonight! And Charbonnet too.
  25. Once again, he thinks he has the offense to outscore the dawgs. And I think he's right.
