BUNKER NAMED PAC-12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK After leading No. 14 Oregon to four wins last week, including a sweep at California, Allee Bunker was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday. It is the first career Pac-12 award for the fifth-year senior. Bunker hit .600 (9-of-15) and drove in 10 runs as the Ducks ran their winning streak to 13 games. She had a double, a grand slam home run and an .867 slugging percentage. Bunker tied her single-game career high with five RBIs and scored three runs in the Ducks' 13-2 win at Pacific on Thursday. She followed that with four RBIs in the series-opening win against Cal on Friday. She had at least one hit in all four games. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native is the only player in program history ranked in the top five in career hits, doubles, runs and RBIs. Bunker leads the team in batting average (.408), hits (62), doubles (12), RBI (51) and slugging percentage (.678). Cowley, Stoffal sweep Pac-12 honors Coming off a 4-1 week where Oregon won series over Gonzaga and No. 12 Arizona State, the Ducks swept the Pac-12 Conference weekly awards with Drew Cowley being named the player of the week and Jace Stoffal claiming pitcher of the week honors. Stoffal (Roseburg, Ore. / Roseburg HS) became just the third Duck to claim the honor three times in a season, joining Robert Ahlstrom (2021) and David Peterson (2017). The Ducks' right-hander turned in another dominant effort against ASU, one of the top-hitting teams in the Pac-12 Conference, on Friday. Stoffal held the Sun Devils, who entered the weekend second in the Pac-12 in batting average (.314) and runs scored (304), to just one earned run on four hits in 6.2 innings pitched. He held ASU scoreless through the first five innings allowing Oregon to build a 9-0 lead before Arizona State finally got on the board. Stoffal picked up his sixth quality start with three coming against the top three hitting teams in the Pac-12 entering last weekend (Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford). Stoffal's previous two pitcher of the week honors came after wins over Oregon State and Stanford. Cowley (Upland, Calif. / Upland HS) batted .421 with four home runs and 10 RBI in the five games against Gonzaga and Arizona State. He finished the week with three multiple-hit games while reaching base multiple times in all five contests, finishing with a .542 on-base percentage and a 1.053 slugging percentage. The Ducks' shortstop opened the week going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in an 11-4 Oregon win. He wrapped up the two-game Gonzaga series reaching base three times (1-for-3, 2 BB) in the finale. Against Arizona State, Cowley drove in seven runs while homering three times. He homered twice, including a grand slam, in an 11-5 game-one win while matching a career high with five RBI. In game two, he homered again while reaching base three times (2-for-4, HBP) with a pair of runs batted in and a run scored. In the series finale, he walked and was hit by a pitch. Cowley is the fourth Oregon position player to earn a weekly honor from Collegiate Baseball. He joins third baseman Sabin Ceballos, left fielder Tanner Smith and catcher Josiah Cromwick. Except for the back-up QB position, it appears most of you are happy with the offense. Here is a projected offensive depth chart after the Spring Game. Projecting Ducks' offensive depth chart following Oregon Spring Game Coming into the spring, we had an idea about what the depth chart was going to look like for the Ducks. After watching practices and the scrimmage on Saturday, we may have updated opinions on how things are going to shape out. Here’s our updated prediction for the Oregon depth chart, starting with the offense: Oregon Football: Projecting offensive depth chart after spring game DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM After weeks of watching practice and Saturday’s spring game, here’s our projected offensive roster for the Oregon Ducks.

Column: After familiar start, QB Ty Thompson showed growth at UO spring game For the first 29 minutes and six seconds of game time on Saturday afternoon, things went about as poorly as they could have for Oregon Ducks redshirt sophomore quarterback Ty Thompson. What started out as a tough watch had quickly turned into an adequate performance from someone that looked to be settling into the position and getting comfortable in the pocket. That notion made Saturday a bit of an audition for Ty, and one that he’s gone through a few times at this point. As a true freshman, Thompson showed a few flashes in the spring game but was ultimately not impressive enough to beat out Anthony Brown for the starting gig. A year ago, Thompson was asked to go up against Nix in a QB competition, which in hindsight doesn’t feel like a fair fight. There were a few times when Thompson could have put some confidence in the bank during the 2022 regular season, but after every time he left the field, fans were still lacking the confidence necessary to write his name down on the 2024 depth chart in anything but a very light pencil. Did I leave Autzen Stadium after the spring game feeling that the Ducks have a surefire difference-maker at the QB spot after Nix leaves? Not exactly...Read more of Zachary Neel's reaction in the article below... Bo Nix gives praise to new faces along the offensive line The highlight of the Oregon Spring Game was the improved defensive unit as they dominated the offense for much of the game, but one group on offense that shined was the line. There are a lot of new faces along that line and the concern that is associated with that group is warranted. After the game inside Autzen, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix said the concern can be curtailed some. OT Josh Conerly Jr. looking to improve 'nasty streak' as spring ball draws to a close There are no stats, no grades, and nothing more than a naked-eye evaluation of Josh Conerly Jr.'s performance at the spring game. Conerly Jr. started at left tackle for the green team, protecting Bo Nix's blindside for the first time in 2023, and it certainly won't be the last. Oregon's Green vs. Yellow spring game marked the first time Conerly Jr. saw a full game of action at left tackle in his young career as a Duck. Last season, Conerly Jr. was the inline tight end famously used in the "14J package." On the season, Conerly Jr. saw nearly 60 snaps at left tackle, jumping into games when Oregon had secured a victory. When asked how the spring game went, Conerly Jr. was honest, expressing that it was "Alright," while there were still plenty of things he needed to work on as the season drew one day closer. In interviews, Conerly Jr. isn't going to sugarcoat it, as when asked how he'll be handling the responsibility of becoming the starting left tackle as a sophomore, he points across the room to No. 10, Nix, and says, "I really just try to play my part, and keep that guy over there upright." Conerly Jr. continues his honest personality when asked how he looks to improve this offseason. "I mean really improving, just having a nasty streak," said Conerly Jr. "I feel like a lot of people will tend to say I don't really have that grit and grind." Read the article to find out what a "nasty streak" is in the latest Madden franchise game... Oregon teammates rave about WR Tez Johnson following spring game Oregon expected an influx of speed when it added former Troy receiver Tez Johnson from the transfer portal this offseason, and Duck fans were treated to exactly that on Saturday. During the team’s annual spring game, Johnson finished with three receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown while working with backup quarterback Ty Thompson. In a day where the defense took most of the headlines, Johnson provided one of the splashiest offensive plays when he broke a pair of tackles in the third quarter and raced down the field for a 63-yard touchdown. Johnson caught 56 balls for 863 yards for the Trojans last season. Oregon likes his potential. Consistency was a word wideout coach Junior Adams used as well to describe his game earlier this spring. Adams said he’ll show up at the facility and find Johnson in the meeting room with fellow newcomer Traeshon Holden going over install at 6:30 a.m. “He just provides a unique spark on offense. We don’t really have a guy like that who is a little scat guy,” said quarterback Bo Nix. “He does a good job when he gets the ball.” Oregon teammates rave about WR Tez Johnson following spring game SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Oregon wideout Tez Johnson flashed in the Ducks' spring game over the weekend. Report Card: Defense looks improved while offense showed flashes at spring game The Spring Game brought some interesting things to the forefront. Hopefully, for the Ducks’ sake, the high points will stick around for the season, while the handful of low points will be ironed out in the coming months. We can start with the quarterback situation. Bo Nix is obviously the top guy on the depth chart, and he played well on Saturday, though the game didn’t call for many heroics from No. 10. Ty Thompson struggled mightily at the start of the game, but he eventually settled in and had a great second half that should give fans some confidence going forward. There were several highlights with some receivers, though. When they got the chance, Troy Franklin, Traeshon Holden, Kris Hutson, and Tez Johnson all made big plays and showed off their unique talents. But Oregon fans should get used to what the Ducks showed them on Saturday as long as Dan Lanning is in Eugene. They saw a dominating defensive attack that snuffed out a good offense and very talented players on that side of the ball. Here’s our official report card for the 2023 Spring Game. Report Card: Spring Game presented a mixed bag of good and bad DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The defense passed with flying colors, while the offense showed some flashes on Saturday.

2024 Duck Football Commits
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
CLASS IMPACT: QB Luke Moga is a Duck What does the addition of the 2024 passer mean for Oregon? It's important to get a quarterback in the fold as early as possible since they so often serve as the face of any given recruiting class. Now they'll be able to recruit other players in this class with a passer in the fold. This pledge also serves as a vote of confidence in new offensive coordinator Will Stein during his first full cycle with the Ducks. Adding Moga further strengthens Oregon's ties into the state of Arizona, which is also home to major targets Elijah Rushing, Miles Lockhart and Christian Clark in the 2024 class. The biggest question now becomes this. What does this mean for 2024 Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy dual-threat quarterback Michael Van Buren? He was also on campus in Eugene for a visit this weekend right after placing the Ducks in his top three along with Penn State and Maryland. My feeling is that Oregon doesn't take a commitment from Moga if it means they'll miss out on a guy like Van Buren--who they not only have been recruiting longer, but he's also a more polished passer and someone whose commitment would likely move the needle more with recruits on a national scale. So all around, this is great news for the Ducks and I don't think it hurts their chances with Van Buren at all. Click here to read the rest of the story in Ducks Digest. -
Ducks Football Spring Game Recap Spring college football games aren’t played with the same intensity, game-planning or quality as the Fall regular season. Players with even minor knocks are frequently held out, the 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s are all mixed up together, the quarterbacks are “no touchy” and there’s more of an emphasis on running as many plays as possible as opposed to clock management. So it was on Saturday as Oregon Green and Oregon Yellow faced off in Autzen Stadium in front of the second-largest Spring Game crowd (~45,000) in the Pac-12 this year. After trailing late into the 4th quarter, the Green team rallied behind quarterback Bo Nix for a 23 - 20 victory. Fans got a long look at Nix, back for his final season, running the Green offense, as well as putative back-up Ty Thompson running the Yellow. Freshman Austin Novosad was the only other quarterback to appear. He took reps for both teams. None of the quarterbacks looked particularly sharp, although there were some ugly dropped balls, especially in the first half, which didn’t help anyone’s stats. There were also good plays on both sides, including a Thompson pass into some middle-of-the-field traffic that Tez Johnson turned into a 63-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Thompson would also find Kris Hutson for a touchdown as time ran out in the game. Coaches seemed pleased particularly with the defensive lines for both teams. Early on - as Funa’s near interception indicates - both defenses were able to disrupt what the offenses were trying to do. They kept the game low-scoring with a scoreless first quarter and Green leading just 10 - 0 at the half as a result with Camden Lewis kicking one of his three field goals on the day. Lewis kicked a 44-yarder for Green at the end of the third quarter, matching his longest from 2022 to close the score to 14 - 13. Running yards generally were tough to come by - Freshman Dante Dowdell led all rushers with 32 yards on just 7 carries. Ryan Walk accepts invite to rookie mini-camp with Jacksonville Jaguars Former Ducks offensive lineman Ryan Walk was unable to sign with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent, but he did accept an invite to the rookie mini-camp for the Jacksonville Jaguars. As a local kid who went to Sheldon High School, Walk joined the team as a walk-on player in 2017, utilizing his redshirt as a freshman. He played sparingly in 2018 and 2019 and then became a full-time starter at right guard in the 2020 season. Throughout 2021 and 2022, Walk was a main-stay on the offensive line for the Ducks, and was one of the leaders of a unit that was arguably the best in the nation last season. At 6’3″ and 295 pounds, Walk may have some bulking up to do in order to play on the interior offensive line against NFL defensive linemen, but hopefully, he’s up to the task. Sweep Averted By Sun Devils No. 20 Oregon led through six innings Sunday but No. 12 ASU rallied to win and avoid being swept at PK Park. In a game that turned out to be a microcosm of the weekend series between Oregon and Arizona State, the No. 20 Ducks had the better of things most of the way in Sunday's finale but the No. 12 Sun Devils rallied late to win 9-6 and avoid being swept in the series. Oregon (30-13, 13-8 Pac-12) had the lead Sunday until the seventh inning, when ASU scored four runs to go ahead 7-5. The Sun Devils homered four times to stave off a series sweep, including twice in the critical seventh inning. "They did a nice job of hitting," UO coach Mark Wasikowski said. "They've got a good offense and they were able to put some at-bats together when they needed to. And I thought that's what the difference was. They did a nice job when they absolutely had to." The third-place Ducks took the first two games of the series and pulled within 1.5 games of the Sun Devils in the Pac-12. Stanford and UCLA played later Sunday, with the Cardinal coming out of the weekend either a half-game ahead of or behind ASU based on that result; Oregon also took two of three from the Cardinal in April. No. 23 Oregon drop game three against No. 12 Arizona State behind bullpen struggles A perfect 5-0 week was on the table for the No. 23 Ducks on Sunday as they took on No. 12 Arizona State beneath the calm grey skies. Through two games of this top-25 showdown, extra-base hits have run their course, with 31 recorded. Extra-base hits would again play a significant role on Sunday, helping Arizona State avoid the sweep. A string of late-inning extra-base hits put the Sun Devils on top, winning 9-6. All nine of Arizona State’s runs came after the fifth inning, as the Ducks held the Sun Devils hitless through the game's first 5.1 innings.
