History of Oregon Senior Quarterbacks - Part 2 The Senior Quarterback History, as Badwater mentioned, was an idea formed from Bo Nix’s performance as a Senior. A performance, it turns out, that won’t be his final in Eugene. Badwater’s knowledge of the history of Oregon players is unparalleled, but I do remember my portion of the list quite well, as it coincides with the beginning of my Duck fandom. Luckily enough, I was able to speak with one of the men on this list, Mr. Dennis Dixon, as he did a weekly segment at the television studio I work at. Though Dennis, who’s final year at UO was my first year, didn’t actually do a sit down interview with me, he did provide some insight into some of his best memories of that emotional roller coaster known as the 2007 season. So let’s get going with the next crop of Senior QBs, starting with the predecessor to Akili Smith… History of Oregon Senior Quarterbacks - Part 2 WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM Continuing the list with the Senior QBs of the 21st Century

PREDICTION: Oregon to Land Elite Edge Rusher in 2024 Recruiting Class Dan Lanning and the Ducks need to continue adding game changers at the line of scrimmage to take their defense to the next level. It felt like Oregon had reached a new tier as a recruiting power when they landed Kayvon Thibodeaux in the 2019 class. He was ranked the No. 1 player in the country by ESPN and was a consensus top-10 player on both 247Sports and Rivals. Thibodeaux became the highest-rated commit the school had ever seen, a distinction he still holds today. He's the best edge rusher we've seen come through Eugene in recent years and now Dan Lanning wants to ensure players of his caliber are more common than they are rare. Today, I'm logging a prediction for Oregon to land 2024 Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic EDGE Elijah Rushing. To read Max Torres' prediction for the Ducks to land Elijah Rushing, click here. Several Ducks, current and former, should go in the 2024 NBA draft No Oregon Ducks were selected in the 2023 NBA draft a couple of days ago, but that story should change when the 2024 draft rolls around. Several Duck men’s basketball players, some who haven’t even played for Dana Altman yet, are projected to have Commissioner Adam Silver call their name a year from now. 2024 could be the year where that streak of not having more than one player selected is broken and Oregon could have more than one first-rounder. With talent like this, the Ducks could be in for quite the ride this basketball season. Here are the Ducks that should go and where different outlets expect them to end up. We look at not only great senior QBs, but also QBs that had a great “final” season in looking over the history of great Oregon QBs, we find that there were great QBs of the past that didn’t play a senior season, much like many modern quarterbacks of the past 15 or so years. With that in mind, it might be more appropriate to refer to this as a look at the final season of great Oregon QBs, be they senior or not. Most of them were seniors, but we can’t leave out the greats that left after their junior season. Also, “greatness” can’t be a universal application regardless of the era. College football may be basically the same game that it was 75 years ago, but it has undergone wholesale evolution to get where it is today. Comparing a QB from today directly and statistically with one that played in the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s is an out of context comparison. The game has evolved too radically over that time to make those kinds of comparisons. With that in mind, let’s celebrate the Oregon greatness of a bygone era. Oregon Director of Scouting Tyler Dean breaks down June's rising importance in recruiting "The month of June is our Super Bowl in recruiting. I think it really changed after COVID," said Dean. "It opened back up for recruiting around the month of June a couple of years ago. I think everyone saw a lot of success in the month of June, and now the calendar has transitioned. For years, Oregon has relied on one camp towards the end of summer called Saturday Night Live. The name, albeit not as catchy as it once was, lays out what happened pretty simply: on the last Saturday in July, recruits would fly out to Oregon to get in front of the Ducks coaching staff. Some high-profile commits and names emerged from those camps, including players like Dont'e Thornton, Jurrion Dickey, Jay Butterfield, and many more. Now the Ducks have added supplemental camps alongside SNL and can run further evaluations of players. Dean explains how these extra camp visits can help Oregon's staff value and determine the talent level of recruits. MBB: Is Altman ascending, descending, or just leveled out? Oregon’s coach has completely changed the culture and success of men’s hoops during his time in Eugene, but is he plateauing? The past two seasons, the Ducks have actually been in prime position to make the NCAA Tournament, and completely faltered down the stretch, a very un-Altman-like occurrence. So what exactly is happening? Is Altman’s magic starting to turn into card tricks? Has he not been able to get players to buy into his system like they used to? Are his rotations not as effective? New Pac-12 team jumps into No. 2 spot for 2024 conference recruiting rankings Over the past decade or so, the Oregon Ducks have been a mainstay near the top of the recruiting rankings in the Pac-12 conference. If they didn’t hold the number 1 spot, you didn’t have to look very far down the ranks before you saw the Ducks. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Dan Lanning is continuing to recruit at a great clip. However, one thing that has surprised us so far is how successful Troy Taylor has been in his first cycle as the Stanford Cardinal head coach.
