NCAA softball rules committee proposes sweeping changes, including relaxing illegal pitch rules The inconsistency around enforcement of illegal pitches has been the bane of NCAA softball fans, coaches, and players for years. The NCAA Softball Rules Committee has recommended addressing that by making fewer pitches eligible for an illegal pitch ruling. It was one of several changes suggested on Friday that could go into effect next season. The proposed rules would reduce the time allowed between pitches from 25 seconds to 20 seconds after the pitcher receives the ball. In addition, the batter must be ready to hit within 10 seconds of the pitcher receiving the ball. Teams can also choose to put an action clock on the field, but they are not required to do so. In addition to the pitching changes, the rules committee has suggested changes to the obstruction rule, video replay, and park dimensions, among other things. Ducks land commitment from three-star S Kingston Lopa after visit Oregon didn't relent in its recruitment of versatile three-star defensive standout Kingston Lopa when he was committed to Arizona for a few months earlier this year, and those efforts paid off Sunday as Lopa announced his commitment to the Ducks coming off his official visit in Eugene. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound prospect from Sacramento could be a safety or ultimately develop into a linebacker in the mold of current Duck Jeffrey Bassa. Our 3rd thread for this topic has reached a 3rd page and has gotten too cumbersome to handle. So, I am starting a new thread (No. 4). NJDuck and I have never gone through a whole year cycle of postings regarding recruiting before, so this has been a learning experience. Along with the fact that Coach Lanning and his crew are such good recruiters, this thread grows quickly. If you need to refer back to No. 3 for reference, click here.

BUNKER EARNS ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA HONOR Fifth-year senior Allee Bunker on Tuesday reached a milestone that only a select few Ducks can list on their resume. Already an All-American at second base, Bunker garnered national honors in the classroom for the second time in her career when she was named a second team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). She is just the fourth player in program history to earn All-America honors both on the field and in the classroom in the same academic year. Alexa Peterson first accomplished that feat in 2013, the incomparable Cheridan Hawkins was a three-time All-American and Academic All-American in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and Koral Costa also pulled off that double in 2016. Bunker, who was a CSC third-team pick in 2022, joins Hawkins as the only two players in program history to win multiple Academic All-America honors.
