Lanning expecting more early enrollees to arrive when team reconvenes in April Twenty-six scholarship newcomers were included on the program's spring football roster released on Thursday, and that number could reach 30 very soon, head coach Dan Lanning indicated following Saturday's practice. "I don't have an exact number, but we'll see a few more guys come in when the next term starts," said Lanning, who elected not to name who might be arriving over the next few weeks. The large crop of new faces is currently comprised of nine Division-1 transfers, 16 prep early enrollees and one junior college addition. The Ducks have just one committed transfer portal player yet to enroll (Ole Miss defensive back Tysheem Johnson) and 13 additional prep players, including five-star wide receiver and class headliner Jurrion Dickey. Dillon Brooks has ascended to the status of arguably the most hated player in the NBA in rocket-like fashion. Brooks has seeming embraced the role, particularly his new moniker of Dillon “The Villain” Brooks. The Memphis Grizzlies guard and former Oregon Ducks’ star added to his rapidly growing reputation after the league on Friday fined him $35,000 for shoving a cameraman to the floor during the second quarter of a game against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Brooks has become Public Enemy No. 1 in many arenas and he’s good with it. “I like getting booed,” he told reporters after the game. “I like guys against me. It gets me going even more.” Wow! A big change from his Duck days. I don't remember him like this...Am I forgetting something? Observations from Oregon's second spring practice Oregon opened practice with special teams work that featured a group of kick returners fielding kicks from Cam Lewis and Grant Meadors, and a group of returners fielding punts from Luke Dunne and Ross James. Oregon’s offensive linemen worked on a pull-blocking technique drill early in the day while first-year offensive line coach A’Lique Terry and first-year assistant Mike Cavanaugh watched closely. During the third period of the day, skill-position players and defenders went head-to-head in a non-contact version of “mod bracket” that featured quarterbacks Bo Nix, Ty Thompson, and Austin Novosad throwing swing passes to a pass-catcher, who then worked to beat a defensive back and a linebacker in a one-on-one matchup along the sideline.
