  1. Motivated Ducks Extend Season With Win Through two NIT games, the Oregon men's basketball team hasn't just managed to survive. The Ducks have been able to thrive. Winning comfortably for the second time in this tournament, the UO men led from midway through the first half to the end of a 68-54 victory Sunday over Central Florida before 3,019 fans in Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks earned another home game in the NIT quarterfinals, against Wisconsin on Tuesday. "Some people I know, their seasons already ended," UO freshman Kel'el Ware said. "I'm just happy to keep hooping, working on my craft in practice and in the games." In a tournament that often seems to be decided by which team is most motivated, the Ducks have made clear their intention to play as long as possible. Nate Bittle has helped see to that by setting a career high in scoring both games, including 21 points plus 13 rebounds on Sunday. 3. MBB Recap: Ducks dominate UCF, advance to NIT quarterfinals It’s not March Madness, but Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks are making some noise in the month of March, and without their three best players, on top of that. With Will Richardson, N’Faly Dante, and Jermaine Couisnard still sidelined with injury, the Ducks came out and got a dominant win over the UCF Knights on Sunday afternoon, 68-54. It featured a career day for Nate Bittle, who finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds, both career highs. Up net, the Ducks will host the Wisconsin Badgers in the quarterfinals of the NIT, and look to secure a spot in Las Vegas for the final four of the tournament. 4. What to make of Te-Hina Paopao's junior season, and more Oregon WNIT storylines The Ducks opened the season with a 13-4 record with Paopao thriving as a secondary scoring option and primary distributor. She averaged 12.9 points per game over that stretch on relatively efficient shooting splits (46.7 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from three) while dishing out assists at a team-best rate of 4.1 per game. Then she hit a mental wall. Paopao admits the next five weeks of basketball were the toughest of her life. Normally a confident and quick decision maker, she began to second-guess and found herself stuck for a nine-game stretch in which the team dropped eight of nine games. "I've never experienced that... like I was stuck in it, so that was hard for me," Paopao said this past Wednesday. "I think a lot of it was being hesitant and questioning decisions I was making." DUCKS PLAYING TO MAXIMIZE WNIT OPPORTUNITY With the right mindset, the Ducks are capable of beating anyone in the field. They'll have home court advantage on their side too, as the WNIT does not feature any neutral site games, potentially allowing the Ducks to play games at Matthew Knight Arena for the duration. The Ducks may run into a scheduling conflict should they advance to the WNIT championship game on April 1 though. Matthew Knight Arena is set to host Paw Patrol that night, meaning they'd likely play at the opposing team's home site. 5. Nate Bittle's career day leads Oregon to NIT quarterfinals For the second straight game in the NIT the Ducks found a career-high performance from a player stepping into a bigger role due to the Ducks' top three players sitting out with injuries. For a second straight game, the Oregon Ducks used that performance to blow out their opponent. Sunday night at Matthew Knight Arena, the Oregon Duck men's basketball team fought through a slow start offensively to beat visiting UCF 68-54 and advance to the quarterfinals of the NIT for the second time in Dana Altman's time at Oregon. Sophomore forward Nate Bittle was a dominant player in a game that featured multiple NBA players. The 7-foot big man scored a career-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while also tying his career-high in rebounds with 13. Bittle added two assists and one steal and was the best player on the floor. Nate Bittle's career day leads Oregon to NIT quarterfinals 247SPORTS.COM Eugene, Ore. - The Oregon Ducks

  9. Ducks propelled by bats, bullpen in series-clinching win Josiah Cromwick headlined the Ducks offense with a four-hit, four-RBI performance in the Oregon's 13-7 series-clinching win over Washington State. Oregon (11-7, 3-3 Pac-12) received a stellar performance from a trio of bullpen arms to seal the victory on Sunday. Washington State found itself in an early lead in the first inning despite a leadoff home run from Rikuu Nishida. The Cougars took a 7-1 lead in the bottom half of the opening frame after scoring seven runs off Oregon starter Jackson Pace. The Washington State bats would go cold from there, adding just two more hits throughout the contest against the Duck bullpen arms. Matthew Grabmann was the first to appear in relief, pitching three scoreless innings and matching a career-high with four strikeouts. Oregon began to chip away at the Cougars' lead in the fourth. 10. Ducks score 12 unanswered, overcome six-run deficit and earn series win over Washington State It didn't look ideal early on as Oregon looked to win a series over one of the surprise Pac-12 teams in Washington State. The same problems that had plagued the Ducks early on in the season resurfaced as the Cougars scored seven runs on three hits in the first, helped by multiple free passes. However, Oregon responded incredibly well, scoring 12 unanswered runs en route to a 13-7 victory. Jackson Pace started the game for Oregon and failed to get out of the first inning, finishing his outing with five earned runs, seven total runs, three walks, and one hit batter. It was the second straight start for Pace where he struggled with command after three excellent starts to start the season.
