  1. Big-Play Ducks Win Ranked Matchup The Oregon football team wasn't perfect Saturday. Thanks to the big-play ability of Bo Nix and his playmakers, plus an opportunistic defense, the Ducks didn't have to be. Despite committing 13 penalties and allowing USC to score the last 13 points of the game, the No. 6 Oregon football team came away with a 36-27 victory over the No. 20 Trojans before the fifth-largest crowd in Autzen Stadium history, 59,957. Nix's first two passes of the game went for 77 and 84 yards, as Troy Franklin and Tez Johnson combined for 273 receiving yards on the night. Bucky Irving ran for 118 yards and a score, and the UO defense sacked reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams three times while also recovering a fumble... 2. Bo Nix delivers 'Heisman-worthy performance' in win over USC Dan Lanning did not hesitate. Moments after Oregon outlasted USC thanks to a 412-yard, four-touchdown performance from quarterback Bo Nix, the second-year head coach leaned into the burgeoning narrative with full force. "A Heisman-worthy performance from Bo," Lanning said. "We got a special one on our sidelines." Nix's numbers told one side of the story -- he completed 74% of his throws, averaged 13.3 yards per pass attempt and posted a 96.1 QBR. But the way he paced Oregon's offense -- from drives punctuated by explosive plays to methodical ones -- displayed how dynamic the Ducks' attack can be on their way to their ninth win. 3. Bill Oram: USC’s decline into the Meh of Troy is karmic justice for killing the Pac-12 So this is how it ends for USC, more than a century after the Trojans joined what would become the Pac-12 Conference and less than 18 months after they killed it. Boo-hoo. Cry me a river. That’s not a shot at Caleb Williams. Promise. The Oregon Ducks defense got enough of those in on Saturday. I delighted in every sack against Williams, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. And in every big completion by Oregon’s Bo Nix, who continues to make a case to be Williams’ successor. Bill Oram: USC’s decline into the Meh of Troy is karmic justice for killing the Pac-12 WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Bo Nix and the Ducks blew past USC in a wire-to-wire 36-27 win, knocking Lincoln Riley’s Trojans out of the Pac-12 title race.
  4. Joe Freeman: ‘A win is a win,’ but Oregon Ducks could use a few style points to dazzle College Football Playoff committee Alabama is coming. You can see it. Texas is lurking. You can feel it. The Michigan-Ohio State loser is a potential problem. You just know it. So as the sixth-ranked Oregon Ducks waddle toward what feels like the inevitable — a rematch with the fifth-ranked Washington Huskies in the Pac-12 championship game — it’s not enough for them to simply win. No, not for a one-loss team jockeying with one-loss traditional powers for a coveted spot in the College Football Playoff. Style points matter this time of year. And Saturday’s 36-27 win over the wounded and reeling USC Trojans didn’t have enough style points for my liking... Joe Freeman: ‘A win is a win,’ but Oregon Ducks could use a few style points to dazzle College Football Playoff committee WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM You’d like to believe that Oregon’s resume at the end of the year will be enough, but you can’t leave these things to chance.

Social media reacts to Bo Nix's big night as Oregon Ducks roll over USC Trojans The game was never really in doubt, but the score looked a bit closer than Oregon Duck fans wanted it to for quite a while. The start of the game was electric, with Nix completing his first two passes for touchdowns of 73 and 86 yards, respectively, and the Ducks were off to the races from there. 17. College Football Playoff committee to present '5+7' model, lowering number of auto-qualifiers, per reports Amid conference consolidation, the College Football Playoff is poised to alter its formula for granting automatic and at-large bids once the 12-team era of the playoff begins next season. The CFP Management Committee approved a "5+7" model Friday that will see the five highest-ranked conference champions receive automatic bids, according to multiple reports. The model still needs approval from the CFP board, which isn't slated to meet until early December. The move is a deviation from the previous "6+6" model that granted automatic bids to the top six conference champions. A splintering of the Pac-12 -- which will see at least 10 of the league's 12 current members depart after the 2023-24 academic year -- created a natural reason to revisit the CFP format... 19. 3 Keys to Victory for the Oregon Ducks against the USC Trojans On Saturday night, the Oregon Ducks will take on the USC Trojans in Autzen Stadium for their first true home game under the lights of 2023. Before the season began, this was the game I expected to be the best Pac-12 game of the year. But, the Trojans have had an underwhelming year, and the Ducks are much heavier favorites than I would’ve expected back in August. While I do think Oregon is in a good spot to win this game, I also expect USC to make the game close. Despite their three losses, the Trojans still have one of the most prolific offenses in college football, and they will challenge the Ducks’ defense. 'Oregon is the team I'd least like to play;' Lee Corso has Ducks above everyone else When asked to list his top four schools, Corso said it should be Oregon, Michigan, Georgia, and Texas. This group would leave out Ohio State, Florida State, and Washington, all of whom are currently ranked ahead of the Ducks in the CFP standings.
