Massive Duck Recruiting Weekend
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What Jimbo Fisher's Firing Means for Oregon Recruiting Will Ducks attempt to flip or use portal for aTm players? Texas A&M made a big decision on Sunday. The Aggies fired head coach Jimbo Fisher after six years in College Station, marking the beginning of the 2023-2024 college coaching carousel. The age old saying goes "Commit to a program not a coach", but it's no secret that coaching changes have a major ripple effect on the recruiting trail. While the Aggies may be going through a rough patch on the field, Texas A&M is one of the biggest recruiting powers in all of college football, as such the Oregon Ducks have found themselves going against the Aggies for blue-chip talent nearly every recruiting cycle. There's already a lot of speculation that some of the biggest names that have come to College Station in recent years are gearing up to hit the transfer portal with Fisher out as the head coach. That's likely to happen at any school, just look at Oregon following Mario Cristobal's departure to Miami... To access the details for this article, click here. -

It's time to put to bed the fear of Dan Lanning leaving Oregon any time soon When Dan Lanning was introduced as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks on December 13th, 2021, Lanning spoke with the media for nearly 30 minutes of time. His opening statement was 11 minutes long as he covered a ton of ground. What he ended that opening statement with nearly two years ago remains relevant today about how he feels about his position as head coach of the Oregon Ducks. This is a good article...Our coach is different from ones in past It's time to put to bed the fear of Dan Lanning leaving Oregon any time soon 247SPORTS.COM As Dan Lanning squashes any rumors about him leaving Oregon, it's time to put those fears to bed for good. -

Oregon's national championship odds once again improve after win over USC With just two games left in the regular season, and a potential third in the Pac-12 Championship down in Las Vegas at the beginning of December, it’s fair to say that this is crunch time for the Oregon Ducks. Every goal they set at the beginning of the season is still attainable, and with a trio of wins, it’s a very real possibility that Dan Lanning and his team are competing for a spot in then national championship game at the end of December. As Oregon continued to roll this past weekend and pick up another win, this time over the USC Trojans, their odds to ultimately win that championship continued to rise. Here are the latest betting odds, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook... Column: Even Dan Lanning can't deny the Heisman buzz, but it doesn't change a thing for Ducks On Saturday night after the No. 6 Oregon Ducks’ 36-27 win over the USC Trojans, Dan Lanning sat down for his post-game press conference and said something that he hadn’t said before this season. It made my ears perk up in the moment. In the days since, I’ve combed through his hours of interviews since the start of training camp and confirmed what I thought to be true the instant he uttered that word as the clock struck midnight on Saturday... Oregon Duck fans react to Dan Lanning's emphatic shut-down of Texas A&M rumors If you polled the Oregon Ducks’ fanbase, I think over 95% of them would have told you that they had no real concerns about Dan Lanning leaving for the open Texas A&M Aggies head coaching job. It’s still nice to get clarification, though. That’s exactly what they got on Monday night when, during his weekly press conference, the Oregon head coach completely shut down the rumors that he is a candidate for the SEC job after Jimbo Fisher was fired on Sunday. “I think I’ve been really, really clear here since day one. Everything I want exists right here,” Lanning said. “I’m not going anywhere. There’s zero chance that I would be coaching somewhere else.” It’s hard to put it much more emphatically than that. As you would expect, Oregon fans celebrated that news on social media, professing love for their coach and relief at hearing of his loyalty once more, though it was never really doubted. Here are some of the best reactions on social media from the news... Recruiting Roundup: Top prospects react to big visitor weekend in Eugene The Oregon Ducks got the job done on the field this weekend against the USC Trojans, winning 36-27 in a game that was never as close as the scoreboard would suggest. It’s also becoming increasingly clear that they got the job done on the recruiting trail as well, having a successful weekend when it came to hosting over 50 high school prospects with some of the top-ranked players in the 2024, 2025, and 2026 class in town. Whether it was a handful of players who have already committed to the Ducks, a couple of standout 2024 players whom Oregon is trying to flip or get to commit late in the cycle, or a long list of top prospects in the class of 2025 and beyond, a lot of players left Eugene with rave reviews of the experience and are excited to come back again in the future. Here are some of the best reactions that we could find over the weekend of players sharing their visit experience... Pac-12 Power Rankings entering Week 12: Oregon State handles business to set the stage for potential chaos Washington and Oregon are barreling toward a rematch in the Pac-12 Championship Game. The Huskies went back and forth with Utah in an electric second quarter inside Husky Stadium, then put the clamps on the Utah offense in the second half to leave with a seven-point win. Meanwhile, Oregon started with a bang against USC and then stumbled and bumbled a bit in the second half to a nine-point win. The quarterbacks are dueling. The offenses are humming. The title game is nearly set. Except… Hear that in the distance? Sounds like a chainsaw. The 8-2 Oregon State Beavers can ruin the Pac-12’s season. A College Football Playoff berth looks like it could be on the line if Oregon and Washington both make it to Vegas unscathed. If the Beavs beat either, it gets much more difficult. And after a three-point road loss in Tucson, Oregon State has rebounded very nicely to set itself up for… well, everything. The season-long goal. It’s right in front of the Beavs. It’s once again time to update the Power Rankings, so let’s dive in... Oregon’s unique offense looks unstoppable as Oregon defeats USC 36-27 If fans haven’t noticed yet, this Oregon Ducks (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12) team that defeated USC (7-4, 5-3 Pac-12) 36-27 Saturday night is unique to most other teams in the country. Most teams don’t have Bo Nix – the most experienced quarterback in college football history – under center. In Saturday’s game, which was marketed as a battle of the quarterbacks, Nix outmatched last season’s Heisman winner, Caleb Williams, in every category finishing with four passing touchdowns. Wide receivers Tez Johnson and Troy Franklin both added over 100-yard receiving efforts in the win. Most teams don’t have game-breaking wide receivers like Johnson and Franklin either. “We got dynamic guys in that room,” Johnson said. “We all saw Troy Franklin take a dig to the house. We were basically competing.” Most defenses aren’t as talented as the Ducks’. That much was on display early. Oregon immediately stuffed the Trojans, who coming into Saturday’s game had scored on eight of their first 10 opening drives... To access the details in The Daily Emerald, click here.

Wondering How Our Pro Ducks are Doing?

Watch: Justin Herbert’s heroics not enough as the defense caves during the Los Angeles Chargers’ loss Justin Herbert played one of the best games of his career on Sunday, unfortunately for him and the Los Angeles Chargers, it wasn’t enough. The quarterback threw four touchdown passes and the Chargers posted a season-high in points, but the defense struggled all day during their 41-38 loss to the Detroit Lions. Herbert completed 27 of 40 passes for 323 yards, and he consistently rallied the Chargers with a scintillating second half filled with pinpoint passes. PREDICTION: Oregon Ducks to Land Five-Star Edge Rusher Oregon's 2024 class is the talk of the town with the early signing period quickly approaching next month. But Dan Lanning and the Ducks have been hard at work in the 2025 cycle as well, with a class that ranks No. 8 nationally according to 247Sports, headlined by Tampa Bay Tech (Fla.) wide receiver Dallas Wilson and San Diego (Calif) Lincoln quarterback and Duck legacy Akili Smith Jr. Oregon hosted multiple five-star recruits on campus for their game against USC this weekend. Today I'm predicting 2025 five-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei edge Nasir Wyatt to commit to the Oregon Ducks... To access the details from this article, click here.

ESPN FPI Update: Oregon's CFP odds go up after big win over USC We’re getting down to it in the 2023 college football season, with just two regular-season games left on the schedule for the Oregon Ducks, and a potential Pac-12 Championship Game should they win both of those games. That means fewer and fewer predictions about the upcoming games. Next week against the Arizona State Sun Devils, the Ducks are heavy favorites early on. After that, they’ve got a highly-intense game against the Oregon State Beavers at home, potentially standing between them and a rematch with the Washington Huskies. How likely is that to happen? Not very, if you ask the ESPN Football Power Index. As we do each and every week, let’s take a look at the FPI numbers, seeing win probability for the remaining two games on the schedule, and the likelihood that Oregon can stay alive throughout the month of December and into January as well...
