Oregon OL commit Devin Brooks looking forward to his future in-state Clackamas (Ore.) offensive lineman Devin Brooks is looking forward to his college football future playing in-state for the homestate Oregon Ducks. Brooks selected Oregon over USC and Washington and is one of three in-state commits to the Ducks. Initially recruited by offensive line coach Adrian Klemm, when Klemm left for the NFL, first year offensive line coach A'Lique Terry took over and solidified that relationship. "I feel like coach Terry is doing a great job with them," said Brooks. "I have a great connection with them from what I've seen so far. They've been real dominant in the passing game, not letting a lot of pressure in and they've been really dominant with the run game as well." He also likes what he's seen from offensive coordinator Will Stein. "It seems like he and coach (Dan) Lanning have a great relationship on how they want their offense ran and he's been calling what needs to be called and the team is doing a great," said Brooks. Brooks plays tackle for the Cavs but knows his future will slide him inside in college... How Oregon football is responding to loss at Washington Devastating. Disappointing. Disheartening. The Oregon Ducks felt it all in the aftermath of their 36-33 loss at Washington. “The one thing I told everybody in the locker room, even coach Lanning, was we got 24 hours,” left guard Marcus Harper II said. “That’s all we’re getting is 24 hours. Don’t let this sprinkle over to this week. Sit within the 24 hours, we came back and we reviewed everything we got to do and now we’re on to Washington State.” The No. 9 Ducks (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) reviewed film on Sunday and Monday, when they took to the field for a corrective practice and moved at a faster rate than in any previous Monday this season, according to Lanning, as frustration and determination merged for even greater effort. “Win or loss we’re going to come to work,” running back Bucky Irving said. “That one loss don’t define our season. We’re going to put our head down and work.” Players in all three phases of the game feel they missed opportunities. From the offense failing on three critical fourth downs, the defense making some big stops but allowing the game-winning touchdown with 1:38 to go and special teams with the missed field goal that would have sent the game to overtime... Steve Stephens' consistent approach pays off with reinsertion into starting lineup Sixth-year senior Steve Stephens entered 2023 with 19 career starts, including 10 a season ago. Yet, the additions of transfers Evan Williams and Tysheem Johnson this offseason forced him to to open his final season of college football outside of the starting lineup. Rather than hang his head, Stephens approached each week like he had in the past even though he began the first five weeks on the sideline. "Steve is steady Eddy," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said last week. "This guy prepares every single day unbelievably. He's really a coach on the field. He's a great communicator. "I think he starts on three special teams for us right now, and that's really where his role started a lot at the beginning of this season. Lanning commended the way Stephens handled his business. He's seen him "answer the call" every time his number was called. After averaging 28 snaps over the first four games, Stephens saw his role elevated the past two weeks. He played 41 snaps in Palo Alto, leading the team and matching his own personal-best with eight tackles. He was reinserted into the starting lineup in Seattle last weekend, and once again led the team with seven tackles in a season-high 62 snaps... Kalen DeBoer explains why Washington scored so quick late against Oregon Washington‘s 36-33 come-from-behind win over Oregon marked one of the most exciting and impressive performances of the college football season, bumping the Huskies up to a No. 5 ranking in the most recent AP Top 25 Poll. The Huskies had their backs against the wall down by four points before their defense got a huge fourth-down stop that gave their offense the ball back with 2:11 left in the ballgame on their own 47-yard line. Instead of attempting to score while methodically letting time run off the clock, Washington’s offense scored quickly in just two plays, a decision that head coach Kalen DeBoer discussed in a recent press conference... Solomon Williams Making Important Return Visit to Oregon This Weekend Oregon will get one of their top targets in the 2024 recruiting class back on campus this weekend. On Tuesday, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day edge rusher Solomon Williams announced that he will be in Eugene for a visit when the Ducks take on the Washington State Cougars. Listed at 6'3", 225 pounds, Williams has made a name for himself as one of the best edge rushers that has yet to find a home. He's rated a four-star (0.9192) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 217 player nationally, the No. 18 edge rusher and the No. 30 recruit in Florida. Williams was originally scheduled to take his Oregon official visit back in September when the Ducks played Colorado, but had to reschedule, which makes this trip that much more important as Dan Lanning aims for a strong close this cycle. The Florida product is working from a top five that consists of Oregon, Alabama, Clemson, Texas and Texas A&M. He made his most recent visit to Texas in late September for a 40-14 win over Kansas. He has yet to set a commitment date, but appears to be closing in on the end of his recruiting process. Williams is one of two edge rushers the Ducks are pushing hard for in the 2024 class, along with Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic standout Elijah Rushing. A Top-Five Recruiting Class is Still in Play for Oregon in the 2024 Cycle Oregon is flying high on the recruiting trail once again after landing five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland over the weekend. With him now in the fold, Oregon's pool of top targets in the 2024 class continues to shrink as space is getting tight. The Ducks are now ranked No. 9 nationally according to 247Sports and with some elite targets still on their big board, I believe finishing the cycle with a class ranked inside the top five nationally is still in play. Let me tell you why... To access the recruiting details, click here.

Is Oregon a top-5 team? One popular CFB analyst thinks so after Week 7 This week, we are bringing a new analyst into the mix, because after Oregon’s loss to Washington. His name is Josh Pate, and he is the host of Lake Kick with Josh Pate on CBS Sports. He’s a fast-rising analyst in the world of college football and is someone who has been incredibly high on the Ducks since before the season started. He remains high on the Ducks, even following this loss to Washington. Pate’s justification is that these are power rankings, so the model he uses produces the hierarchy based on who should be favored over whom, given that the game takes place on a neutral field. Take a look at where he has Oregon ranked, and in particular, where he has Oregon ranked in conjunction with Washington... Is Oregon a top-5 team? Where Oregon's defense ranks nationally in key statistics after Washington loss There seems to be a misconception going around that the Oregon Ducks’ defense didn’t perform well this past weekend against the Washington Huskies in a 36-33 loss on the road. It’s understandable why. Obviously, giving up 36 points isn’t great, especially when you allowed Washington to go 53 yards and 2 plays at the end of the game to score the go-ahead touchdown. However, when you compare the numbers that the Huskies — an elite offensive team — put up on Saturday and the numbers that they’ve been averaging so far this year, it’s fair to say that the Ducks game them a difficult test. Washington averaged 46 points per game this year; Oregon held them to 36. Washington averaged 446 passing yards per game this year; Oregon held them to 316. Washington averaged 569 total yards per game this year; Oregon held them to 415. I could go on and on with numbers that show the Ducks’ defense actually stood up really well to an impossibly difficult task on Saturday, but very few people want to talk about that. When you lose the game, you’re not always afforded the luxury of hindsight and moral victories. However, we want to highlight Oregon’s defense — a unit that strung together a trio of defensive stop, including a goal-line stand in the 4th quarter, to give the Ducks a chance to win this game. While their national rankings may have dropped a little bit due to the level of competition they played, Oregon still has arguably the best defense in the Pac-12, and one of the top units in the nation. Here’s where they rank nationally in some key statistics after Week 7... Pac-12 2023 - The Road to Las Vegas
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Where Oregon stands among teams with best chance to make College Football Playoff A week ago, Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks had the entire world in front of them. They still do right now, but their room for error has vanished after a 36-33 loss to the No. 5 Washington Huskies on the road in one of the best games of the season. That’s an important note for all Oregon fans reading this article. While the outcome this weekend was disappointing, with the Ducks suffering their first loss of the season, it’s imperative to realize that nothing has changed for the team. They still have a good shot at making the Pac-12 Championship Game if they can win the remainder of games on their schedule, and should the run the table from here on out, there’s a more-than-likely chance that they get into the College Football Playoff, as well. How likely is that to happen? To answer that question, we turn as we often to to the ESPN Football Power Index, where teams are given a probability to see the postseason. Here’s where Oregon stands among the top teams in the nation when it comes to the percent chance that they can make it to the College Football Playoff... Washington State vs. Oregon odds, props, predictions: Offenses could shine as Ducks, Cougars look to bounce back Oregon (5-1 SU, 5-0-1 ATS) doesn’t have any time to wallow over its first loss of the season, regardless of how painful it was. The Ducks led their top 10 matchup at Washington inside the 2-minute mark a week ago, and lost their advantage in 33 seconds as Michael Penix, Jr. gobbled up 53 yards on two plays. Oregon managed to run 10 plays in 1:38, but had a game-tying field goal attempt from 43 yards out go wide left. Washington State vs. Oregon odds, props and predictions hinge on how both of these teams bounce back from disappointment. Oregon can still run the table and accomplish all of its goals by winning the Pac-12 Championship since that would likely land it a spot in the College Football Playoff if the Big Ten’s big guns cannibalize one another, but it no longer has any room for error. It has to rebound this week against a complicated opponent in visiting Washington State (4-2, 3-3), whose offense has sputtered in consecutive defeats against UCLA and Arizona. The first order of business will be to avoid a hangover in not letting last week’s result trickle into this contest, which means getting off to a strong start at home will be a priority... Players 'encouraged' and 'proud' of team's response following loss in Seattle Oregon coach Dan Lanning told reporters on Monday that the practice to open Washington Week had been among the best they've had this year. Dan Lanning says the GPS monitors worn by players registered their fastest speeds of any Monday practice of the year to begin this week. Oregon's coach credited the team's veteran players for setting the tone. Unlike most Mondays, the Ducks were in full pads at the players' request. "These guys came to work. They wanted to wear shoulder pads today. These guys wanted to go," he said on Monday evening. "I think it tells you about our team's mindset and it's really the same thing for our entire staff, our staff wanted to come in and get better as soon as they could." Senior Brandon Dorlus, among the team's defensive leaders, referred to the workout as "ridiculous". "I think that was the hardest Monday practice we've seen," he said. "Even looking at the numbers on the GPS, seeing how fast we were moving, that was the hardest practice we've had. That just shows that that loss really meant a lot to everybody." This is a good article. I encourage you to read on for further details...
