Yes it’s the coach speak but I don’t see any realization from mr Cristobal that we need to change in order to achieve his goals.

Here is the problem Oregon’s offense slid from scoring 34.85 ppg in 2018 to 32.73 in 2021. Oregon’s defense slightly improved from allowing 25.38 ppg to 24 in 2021. This stagnation would be a problem if we had the same level of talent we did in 2018. We don’t, our talent is far superior and the metrics are the same or worse. that is no bueno because the recruits will stop flowing and the metrics will fall off. Do I want him fired? No, not at all. What I want is these metrics to improve. But you can’t improve your metrics when every victory is “a validation of the system” and every loss is an excuse. Mr.Cristobal system cost the conference 6 million and our players the chance to showcase their talent at the playoffs

Utah GameDay Thread: Is Pursuing the Playoffs a Crock?
Pocketchange replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If we ran up the score on the teams we were supposed to beat we would be would be a shoe-in for the playoffs but our offense looked like hell for most the season. It will be really difficult for a 1 loss Oregon to reach the playoffs with (hopefully) Cristobal’s former strategy. Style points matter. -
PAC-12 COMES WITH A PLAYOFF (PO) EXPANSION PROPOSAL

At this point we should make a 4 team playoff with P5 teams minus the SEC. let the SEC play for their championship with themselves. -

High Scoring or Great Defense: Which Would YOU Want?
Pocketchange replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Fast Hard Finish! A high scoring offense- Helps the defense out by making the opposing offense to play a high scoring game. Opposing offenses will try to “make things happen” by taking on risky plays and that creates opportunities for the defense Good offenses can put 8 points on the board instead of 7 The best defense is another 7 or 8 points on the board until time becomes the enemy. Offenses are easier to market… money matters Offenses are more entertaining Games over by the half are able to put 2and and 3rd stringers in giving them valuable experience while limiting injury risk to the starters Offenses can overcome 3 & 10 or 2 & 20. They can make mistakes and still score. High scoring offenses are able to differentiate themselves through the score and pass the eye test more easily than the defensive teams. Do you think that we would be ranked behind Ohio if our offense finished with a statement in the first half of the season? I don’t -
Let's List the POSITIVES from the Game!
Pocketchange replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The defense was pretty awesome! They are the Oregon heroes of the season. The offense was entertaining and had some chunk plays. It seemed that our playmakers were in space more often than in previous games. -
MC Detractors: Step Right up, Don't be shy ...
Pocketchange replied to rden's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I reject the premise. The vast majority of people who are critical of Mr Cristobal do NOT want him gone. They want him to: fulfill his promise of Oregon offense but bigger- until the high flying ducks come back, the culture one built off of a bait and switch sales pitch. players being ready to play game 1, second 1, every game- it is ok to fail the eye test against an inferior opponent sometimes but not every game. see acknowledgment, accountability, and improvement where they are deficient- Every win is a validation of the program and “we didn’t play up to expectations” when we lose. Teams can’t learn without a culture of accountability. Hopefully that will be easier than finding a replacement coach and staff because their is so much good about the Oregon Team. -

The Time is Now For a New Quarterback
Pocketchange replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
To be honest I am baffled by this comment. Verdell is out for the season AB has had trouble with reads and passing. AB runs like Masoli - are we going to distill the playbook down to designed runs by Dye and QB runs? -
You forgot 2020 recruiting class ranking Oregon: 9th in the country Oregon State: 110th in the country our metrics on the field may not be that great, but off the field, our metrics are awesome!!

INSTEAD OF MARIO WHO WOULD YOU HIRE?
Pocketchange replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would want Mike Bellotti to create my team of coaches. His coaches created teams that punched well above their weight and I would like to see what he would do with all this talent. -

For an RPO offense to work, the QB must make good reads and be able to pass. Brown does neither well. -
Cristobal’s Problem? It’s the Oregon Fans!
Pocketchange replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This article is spot on! I remember when my friends and I would watch the game and think about how special the team was. But it wasn’t just watching the game- we would discuss and search the web to know more about the game. Football was interesting beyond the game to those who traditionally had no interest to the sport before. That is gone. Covid or not we are not going to watch a boring game. The BBQ are gone, the only discussion about football I have is on FishDuck, and cut the cable cord, so I am unable to watch most the games…. And half the games I do watch- I regret watching them. Outside of recruiting, the game has lost significant value to myself and others. And it has left me wondering, if I didn’t tolerate a Brady Hoke defense, why am I tolerating a Cristobal Offense? -
I have seen many articles and comments discussing Cristobal’s prevent offense. With the talent the Ducks had, they should have never been behind Stanford. The horrific calls by the refs were just icing on the cake. Here is what would have saved the game. A fast acting offense that could eat up chunks of yardage on the ground. Say, if you are 1 & 20 with 3 min to go on the clock, you should still be a threat with the run game against Stanford’s run defense. They aren’t and that is a systematic problem. Cristobal’s offense is built so that if anything goes wrong- it breaks down. The penalties are not the problem. The inability to overcome the penalties is the problem.
-
You can’t recruit your way out of this mess because Cristobal will alway run up against a coach who can coach, strategize, and recruit. As of now, we will be the SC of the north until the memory of the blur offense fades and more people see through Mario’s promise of “keeping of the Oregon offense tradition but tougher”. When people catch on the ratings, sales, and recruits will dry up. One caveat, I believe that he will be able to recruit defensive talent for the foreseeable future.

Stanford GameDay Thread: Go Ducks!

I would have to say that if we had helfrich/aliotti with those players we would have won that game handily and would be contenders. -
Stanford GameDay Thread: Go Ducks!
Pocketchange replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ain’t that the truth… If AB could hit someone downfield, If the team was ready to play before the first half, If the Ducks had a winning offensive scheme, If the Ducks had a killer instinct, if the Ducks were prepared to play every down even when they believe the other team had a false start, if the refs didn’t hand the cardinal 2 major penalties at the end of game, if the Ducks utilized any clock management, if AB pitched the ball to CK verdell like he was supposed to, if the Ducks played with a culture of awareness, urgency, and hunger. They would have won the game. -

Canzano has 2021 Questions: "Flat, Dumb Football"
Pocketchange replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would say offensive flat, dumb football. When our defense clicks, our game is really fun to watch. Conversely, the Oregon offense is neither entertaining or effective. I personally think that MC values time of possession over either first downs or TD’s. I want MC to dominate not just because of Oregon green but I believe he has good character.
