  1. South Alabama is beating UCLA Cal leading ND 17-14.... now tied
  2. BYU tired? or just wanted to slow down the steam engine?
  3. I am one who does NOT WANT Oregon to leave the PAC. To me, there is a lot of upside with staying. I am aware that I have zero say in the matter.
  4. When Dan Fouts was earning his spot in the Hall of Fame with the San Diego Chargers, he gave a tell. Before EVERY pass play he licked his fingers just before going under center. He NEVER licked his fingers before a run play... ...unless he did the opposite. He could go the whole season indicating run or pass on every play. But it was all on purpose. Only in an important game, on an important play of that game, he would break the pattern to gain an advantage. Dan threw for 43,040 yards and 254 touchdowns. He also threw 242 interceptions. Did the strategy work, or not?
  5. As much as that sounds good. I think it is more important to root for the PAC 12. Oregon State and Washington State improved the PAC's profile in the world. If USC, UW, CAL, and UO come through this weekend, the PAC's stature in the world grows. You want Oregon to be top 6 by the end of the year? Beating a ranked UW, a ranked OSU, and a ranked Utah, on the way to beating a ranked USC in the championship game is a great way to get there... (tough my personal preference is beating OSU twice - an undefeated OSU at the end of the regular season and a one loss OSU in the championship game).
  6. Thanks for the read. For me, the glass is a lot more than half full.
  7. The poor guy followed the Wizard of Westwood... IN Westwood. He took the team to the final 4 but failed to win the championship. The fan base wanted his head, and he was gone not long after.
  8. A couple weeks ago this was brought up. The comment was that DL would not chew the guy out on national TV, but rather handle it in private and then in practice. The tell will be if you ever see that guy do it again. If he doesn't, someone talked to him.
  9. It would be almost hard for Samford to not score more than the Ducks. Even if Georgia's goal is to pitch a shutout, accidents do happen. Two bits says Georgia did a lot more studying and prepping for Oregon than they ever will on Sanford.
  10. Totally agree here. The defense couldn't get a stop. 7 possessions, 7 touchdowns. The interesting thing to me is that, with two interceptions, why did Georgia only have 7 possessions? Only two possible answers: Georgia took a lot of time to score, but they threw the ball successfully the whole first half (and some in the second)... and Oregon had some success in moving the ball and therefore ate up some clock. I'll take that last point as a positive.
  11. A couple off the top... We have very good players (tops in the PAC-12) who were totally embarrassed by a much better team on national television with everyone watching. They are going to do everything they can to never let that happen again. Now they know they are not as good as they thought they were. They will work hard and get better. Coaches too. There is no one Oregon is going to play through the regular season that is even close to as good as Georgia. Subpoint to the above> What team are we going to face has the offensive and defensive lines that Georgia has, that will be able to win the battles that Georgia won against the Ducks last Saturday??? Our defense threw everything they had at them (all the things we have been studying here) and Georgia had an answer every time, like they knew what was coming and thwarted it every time (that was scheme as well as horsepower). Other teams will TRY to do what Georgia did, but they are not Georgia and will not be able to. The coaching staff has lots of film to study and can see their own failures as well as the weaknesses of the players... all areas to improve. We have Eastern Washington to get healthy on (mind and scheme) before the next challenge. We have two weeks before BYU, one of the biggest tests left. BYU is not Georgia. They are good, but the Ducks are better. Ducks should be favored. One game at a time. Every game the Ducks win will increase their confidence and their skill level. Justin Flowe made it through the first game without a season ending injury. Bassa was a scare, but everyone came out of the weekend pretty healthy. The Ducks coaches called a pretty good game, Georgia coaches called a better one. Name a team whose coaches are as good as what we saw in Georgia's on Saturday.
  12. At the end of the game, I told a friend, "I would not be surprised if Oregon goes undefeated the rest of the way." I have several reasons for thinking it is possible.
  13. ...or yellow, or black, or white, or eggshell... or whatever other color Oregon is wearing that particular day.
  14. Wow, OD, this is impressive work. Thank you very much. Starters look like they match up pretty well. Unfortunately, the two deep will play and some 3rd stringers for both teams. This is where Georgia has at least a somewhat greater advantage. Keeping fresh legs in is very important.
  15. Nice read. I enjoyed reading all the comments. You are right. Most folks commenting seem pretty objective also.
  16. Great read. Thank you! I especially like the animated diagram followed by a video showing the diagram in action.
  17. It is because of this that I trust that TT and Butters will get plenty of snaps this year, whether or not they get snaps in the first game. Give TT and Butters at least a quarter each in game 2.
