  1. I've heard through the grapevine... a sort of "tease" that I'm going to really enjoy Drex's article tomorrow and the style he brings. I'm not sure if you are all aware of or caught Charles introduction of Drex in the pinned post at the top. Drex brings a prestigious resume from his career that is impressive! I hope you all join me tomorrow in reading what he has to say, and we give him a big welcome. Here is a paste about Drex from that pinned post. Drex Heikes is a former Oregon Daily Emerald editor-in-chief who went on to work 44 years at in New York, Alaska, California and Nevada. He worked 21 years at the Los Angeles Times, where he was foreign affairs editor in the Washington D.C. bureau, editor of the Times Sunday magazine and New York bureau chief for coverage of 9/11. He also wrote occasionally, even about sports. He left the Times for a few years to help revive Las Vegas Sun newspaper, which soon won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize gold medal for public service. He later returned to the Times before retiring in Los Angeles. Drex will be writing as "a fan from the bleachers" as he told me, although he has a sneaky sense of humor that will hit you in his articles when you least suspect it.

  2. I didn't know he was a track guy, good nugget of info you dropped there!
  3. I thought Feld had a clause in his contract there would be no speed training because it made his guys fill out their sleeves less? lol
  4. I thought Dye was pretty special in how he let his blocks develop and he would hit the hole that was open. Dye excelled at that! It was Verdell that seemed to run full bore into the back of his linemen or the defense RIGHT where the play was supposed to have a hole, he didn't use his vision and patience and see there was a hole open one gap from where it was supposed to be. Am I wrong in my impressions?
  5. I don't know what gave him the "yips" and caused him to miss so many throws at times. He played pretty good at the OSU game and that was like his peak. He was better with the deep balls at BC, much better. Then in the Alamo bowl in the second half he dropped some dimes on the long balls, so it doesn't really add up.
  6. DJ was an edge recruit who I think was #82 rated player in the nation on 247. When he transferred in from Maimi, he was still an edge guy. Because KT was ahead of him at edge, he was open to playing tight end to help the team. Now that KT is gone, he is back at edge where he has his most value going into the NFL draft. I think he brings way more value to the team as an edge this year. I think if he has a great year, he could shoot up into the first round of the draft since the NFL teams value edge guys like gold. Now Tilman in a year on campus has only filled out to 225lbs on his 6' 5" frame, that's to light for an edge guy. It seems like the Ducks staff in what may be a brilliant move looked at Tilman's body build and realized he wasn't bulking up enough for the edge. Tilman the article said is the fastest TE on the Ducks and at 6' 5' with speed will be a super hard dude to defend at any part of the field. He also is a great TE to throw an end zone fade and let him go up and get the ball.
  7. You're not being overly critical. If the author is telling you something as a fact and you know it's not true, then he's lost come credibility with you. I can write an article about Bo Nix and tell you I think the evidence shows that he's not going to play like a 5-star in my opinion. Now if Bo plays like a 5-star then I look stupid for the opinion I gave. I'd rather look stupid for that than looking like I didn't do my homework or didn't care to get it right.
  8. Listed at 6'5, 225 pounds Tilmon’s strong athletic frame makes him an asset on the football field at a multitude of positions. “Coach Dillingham asked the question 'who's our fastest tight end?' and all the tight ends point to Tilmon," Lanning said. “He can run a little bit. It’s still a new position for him, still developing there, so we'll see what it looks like in fall camp.” That's the nugget out of the article. 6'5" with big catch radius and the speed, that's a handful at TE! He sounds like a WR/TE hybrid
  9. This is a great post that hits on so many issues! My Saturday article is addresses some of the questions you raised.
  10. lmao! How true! That post might have won the internet yesterday!
  11. Hey Marsh, I just read this whole article and you nailed it dude! It might be ugly to look where this is going down the road but Boom, you dropped it out there how I would guess it will go. Congrats, really good article, you got a ton of discussion and the board fired up!
  12. Man, it's a rough crowd in here for a writer. haha.. No seriously you have a legitimate point!
  13. I get what you are saying! My article was just calling balls and strikes as I see them with Bo's career so far. I'm with you, I want to see Bo ball out and he has to be the game one starter with all his experience IMO. I have an article coming out Saturday that digs into the Ducks offense and how Bo could have sucess.
  14. Lol. Now that is a post with conviction. I like it! So, we can put you down in the Bo Nix is going to kill it camp? Actually, you have me a bit more worried now that we've established the SEC defenses are light years ahead of the Pac!
  15. Improve good enough to keep Ty and Butters off the field is the minimum he must do.
  16. Here is a list of the SEC QB's the last two years who were better than Nix. Stenson Bennet, Kyle Trask, Felipe Franks, Kellen Mond, Hendon Hooker, Matt Coral and then Mac Jones and Bryce Young. How come all those other SEC QB's were better than Nix against that list of top 10 defenses and DB's who are now in the NFL? Doesn't it seem to be a concern Nix was worse than all those SEC QB's? That said it doesn't rule out the fact Nix could be good this year, but he has to prove it.
  17. BC brought in Mike Bakakian as OC for AB,s junior year, he was the Tampa Bay Buc QB coach from 2015-2018. AB blew up under Bakakian in 2019 and his yards per completion was just outside the top 10 in FBS and his passer rating was inside the Top 20 of FBS. The Sporting News had AB as th3 #9 rated Transfer QB. I'd say the blame has to go to Mario and Moorhead for AB's fall off.
  18. I liked how Butters showed he could get through the progressions to his check down to the running back. That means Butters can calmly run the offense and take what the defense gives him, take the positive play. Some plays just don't go into the coverage the defense ran that play. Butters seems to have the confidence to take the check down and come get the defense on the next play.
  19. Your whole post was solid, but I really agree with you on this part. If Nix can't make a jump, then it's next QB up!
  20. I'm not predicting Dorlus or Popo will be drafted in the first three rounds after this season, but they are 3-star guys who developed into all Pac guys.
  21. Charles has some great articles you won't want to miss and some of my articles actually play off or tie back into Charles articles. If you want to be up to speed on the Ducks personnel, schemes, matchups, and expectations, before the season kicks off then you will want to read these articles.
  22. Thanks for the PM Krsmqn and looking out!
  23. If Bo can "flush out" to be as good as Herbs was his senior year, I think all us fans will be happy. That's adding two yards per pass average and 26 points on his passer rating. If he does that and still makes some of his trademark "silly' plays, we are all going to be able to live with it. I think if Bo's playing at the same level he has for his first three years the fan base will be calling to move onto Ty or Butters. I don't think fans are going to want to waste too much time on Bo not playing well. There are lots of fans who wanted Ty or Butters to get more game time last year, that group aren't going to support bad QB play by Bo for long.
