So many of these pundits lack some serious football chops, I take what they say with a grain of salt. It's UTAH and the Ducks by a margin at the top! Utah will be tough; they have stable system in place the players execute. They have had the BEST DC in the Pac in Scalley, but they have to replace Lloyd and Sewell at inside backer. They got LB transfer from Florida who has over 150 tackles in 3 years, even if he is good this year, he WONT be 1st round pick Lloyd good! They have guys groomed to replace Sewell but they lack the game snaps and will have to grow. They will fall off at inside backer this year, and OSU shredded the backend in the Rose Bowl, so that defense is beatable. Offense they return the 1000 yard RB and have lots of WR back, but the LOST Covey. That dude made the clutch plays, can they find a guy to step up and give them what Covey did? Utah is solid, but they have some things to figure out. USC has offense, the defense sucked last year. They got some transfers at LB with Lee from Bama, and Gentry from one of the AZ schools. They got Height from Auburn to play in the edge with Corey Foreman. The DL still isn't great and depth sucks on the DL and LB. Even if the DC Grinch turns this unit around, they won't be a top 40 defense the way I see it and they have no dudes to plug in if injuries hit them. UCLA couldn't beat us with AB throwing bad picks, Mario holding the offense back. They had a 14-0 lead in the first and we pinned our ears back and outscored them 27-3 over the next two periods. UCLA can't carry our Jock in 2022.

Way Too Early Pac-12 Team Game-by-Game Predictions
DazeNconfused replied to HawaiiDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Because Mario seemed to choke up a loss agaisnt a team we should beat every year. Mario ball played not to lose, not win. So he ended up in games late he could have won long ago. Mario is a one-line minimum better on a penny slot type of guy. 2019 ASU 2020 Cal and OSU 2021 Stanford Seems like these guys feel projecting a bad loss is a safe bet. I think Lanning will change that on a dime this year. -
Preseason Camp Starts Next Week...Updated Roster

Look at you! Thanks for showing that! -
I love the juice Dilly brings to the practice in that video, screaming "hole shot" and sprinting down the field to follow the play! Old School and older coaches aren't fun like that! Dilly is going to get his share of kids who want to play for him, Moore is just the first. I bet we get Richard Young here soon
-
Writing the article left me pondering a few things. 1. Is Lanning, like coach Graham going to show over his coaching career that ability to spot this type to new offensive minds? I remember Lanning saying he was keeping a list of guys he would try to hire when he became a HC. 2. Dilly's hire serves Oregon well in that if he ever moves on to become a HC, Lanning can use connections from his Tree. 3. If Lanning ever moved on and Dilly got the Oregon HC job, he can pull a young mind from that tree to promote someone to OC to mentor under him. Ryan Silverfield and Kake Spavital both got their first HC job when they were under 40, I'm sure Dilly will do the same. This coaching tree is growing and moving into HC jobs at a young age and will soon be growing more young OC's.

I can't wait to see our defense down in Atlanta against the Dawgs, that's going to be fun.

Ducks Linebacker Corps Rated No. 2 in Nation
DazeNconfused replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Media is putting some respect on Oregon's name! I love it! -
Thanks! I knew I wanted to share some of what I knew about Dilly's Tree, but man there was lots more there than I knew when I unpacked it all! I will have up to 8 more articles coming before the Ducks first game kicks off to share with the FishDuck community, I hope everyone enjoys them. This was my third article and I really want thank Charles aka Mr. FishDuck one more time. He has invested a ton of his time mentoring me, teaching me the ropes and going over my articles. I'd guess he has at least 14 hours of his time in with me in total, maybe more? That time is on top of the other hours Charles invests into FishDuck, as he is relentless. Bob my editor has also been investing time in me and bringing me along! Lastly, I want to give a shout out to all the FishDuck Mods, Volunteers, Writers, Editors who help make this site as great as it is. I know we all enjoy and benefit from all they do.

Ducks Linebacker Adrian Jackson Leaves Program
DazeNconfused replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Taggart had some moments in the spring game, but you can't put too much stock in the spring because it's not always the 1st team O-line going. Taggart and Jackson are 200-pound kids, they aren't ready for primetime power 5 football at inside backer. They need to put on some size and learn the college game. Jackson bulked up to 230-pounds in his career and there is no way Taggart was taking playing time from him. We are going to have to wait and see why he left, but it could be a lot of reasons. He was stuck behind guys and didn't play a ton last year, he's in like his 6th year. He wasn't a draft prospect; he could have decided to move on in life? Maybe the love for the game wasn't worth the return for the risk of injury and effort? Maybe he is a medical retirement? Maybe he is going to transfer? I remember the day Jackson committed back in 2018 and talking with my Duck buds what a good get it was. He was the #1 player in Colorado and rated pretty high. I thought we would see more of him on the stand-up speed rush and pass coverage, but his snaps were always limited. I wish the kid the best, he will always be a Duck. -

Ducks Linebacker Adrian Jackson Leaves Program
DazeNconfused replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree its lateral move at best. Funa plays the OLB on the edge, a spot Winston can play too. Inside backers are: Flowe- Bassa Sewell- LaDuke- Brown With the injuries we had last year at the inside backer I'd like to grab Winston since it seems we have a spot. We were playing the senior walk-on Nate Heulakianu last year for way too many snaps, and it KILLED us. We don't want to have to play Devon Jackson or Harrison Taggart this year in any prime time. We have a ton of DL depth, DB depth and Winston gives us extra inside depth and OLB/edge depth behind Swinson. I dread us getting thin at LB this year from injuries again, a one-year rental if we are under the Scholly makes sense to me. -
Good post we have a ton of depth and quality on the back end! You hit everyone but Steve Stephens who was a starter last year, Daymon David came back, JJ Greenfield, Trejon Williams and Baby Flowe was converted to safety. Greenfield and Barkins are the only 3-stars in that group of the top of my head. I think the Jahil's, Avante, Stephens were all Top 150 guys, and Coach Meats son and Presley are both the same, so we got some real solid 4-star depth in the young guys coming in this year and next.

Ducks Linebacker Adrian Jackson Leaves Program

This kid was a good blue-chip get and I'd have liked to have seen him get more burn here. This is the time of year we get some medical retirements; I think we are at around 83 Schollys now I'd go get this cat right now for depth! I wonder if he is interested in playing with his little brother for his final year? Will Ducks See Transfer Eli'jah Winston in Green-Yellow and Get... College Football Review of the TE/WR for all Colleges
DazeNconfused replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It looks like the Ducks are ranked sixth and that's pretty stupid if you ask me. The only justification is if they are going by returning production, then maybe the Ducks are sixth. If you go by the roster talent, then the Ducks are second behind USC, who have WR transfers rated 5-star Jordan Addison, 4-star Mario Williams and Brendan Rice. The also added the UW transfer who was a 4 -star Byrum? They already had almost 5-star Kyle Ford, and Gary Bryant Jr who are both rated about the same as Franklin. Plus, SC has Hudson-Ware who is around a top 130 player from last year's class, and they flipped CJ Williams from Dame and he is a top 100 kid. USC is absolutely loaded at WR and has ridiculous depth! They lost Michael Trigg the Top 100 TE who followed Jaxson Dart to Old Miss. The Ducks have almost 5 -star Franklin and Thornton both Top 60 guys, Seven around Top 150 and Brevard Top 200 from last year's class. Kasper is coming in this year, and he was around a Top 125 guy, Chase Cota was a good 4-star kid out of Medford. We also have Hutson who I think was a Top 200 guy, Delgado and Crocker are the same. The TE's Matavao, Furguson and Baby Herbs are all 4 stars and probably the best group in the Pac-12. The Ducks are pretty loaded as well, and you can only play so many guys. You could take 3 lower rated receivers off USC and the Ducks and have the third best unit in the Pac-12. I only know of one other 5-star WR in the Pac and that was Terroita McMillain who decommitted from the Ducks and went to Arizona for this year, I wish him the best of luck! Keep in mind the Ducks lost Jalen Hall to some thug stuff, Lance Whilhote, Pittman all Top 130 or so guys and we are STILL Loaded! Mario loaded up and got gone just in the nick of time! Anyways to sum it up, sure we have the #6 unit for WR and TE in the Pac.. lol- 1 reply

Ranking the Pac 12 Defensive Lines for 2022
DazeNconfused replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
About USC from the article. Namely, this was a defense that ranked among the worst in the country at hitting backs behind the line of scrimmage (128th in stuff rate) and winning in short-yardage situations (123rd). Grinch has work to do getting this group ready for a Pac-12 title run. Those numbers are terrible! Not only does Grinch have to improve that, but he also doesn't have much depth on the DL. USC has Fresno St, Stanford, and The Bark Eaters games 2-4 this season. Jeff Tedford is back at Fresno and has Jake Hayner back at QB (NFL Prospect) with an offense that was really good last year. The WR's are coming back, the #2 Rb had 700-plus total yards last year and is back. Fresno beat UCLA, San Diego St last year and played the Ducks to a one score game. All were ranked in the top 25 and all were road games for Fresno. Tree has been down, but they steam roiled the USC defense last year. Just ran the ball down their throat and then hit play action, just like Tree loves to do. Little Jon at OSU always fields a well-coached team. and they have a SOLID offensive line and always run the ball. Once they get that running game going, the pass game opens up for them. All three of these teams have the ability to go on long drives and put points on the board. That's how you beat an offense like USC with Caleb Williams, keep them on the sideline and wear down the USC defense. Grinch is a really good DC, but early on his unit has to learn his system, make their mistakes, watch film, work on mistakes in practice and get better each week. USC's defense will be better in week 6 than week 2-4, and the teams they play in those weeks are bad matchup's so early in the year for them. -
Moss is a pocket passer 247 Composite Top 100 rated kid who was paired with Jake Garcia who was even higher rated. Then Jaxson Dart blew up his senior year and committed to USC, then Garcia flipped to Miami. Dart beat out Miller for QB2 last year and I think him being a tad bigger/stronger with the ability to extend plays was a key factor. I'm not sleeping on Moss under Riley who is a QB Guru. Moss has QB brains, poise, quick release and good touch, Riley can work with that and do wonders. Moss won't dynamically extend plays like Williams or Dart do, but he should be a get through he reads and get the ball out quick kid who can make an offense go.

Probably around August 3rd since we have September 3rd opener.

Can QB Development Improve Under Dillingham?
DazeNconfused replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That article were straight facts. There must have been something behind the scenes going on, because Pellum coached linebackers for over a decade under Bellotti. It's almost like Pellum was sabotaging the Ducks because we never saw that bad of play. The linebackers were terrible that year in pass defense all year, it was like they never watched film and got coached up. They made the same bad read and missed assignments all year long and it didn't improve. Jim Leavitt turned the defense on a dime the next year. -
Can QB Development Improve Under Dillingham?
DazeNconfused replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I stand corrected. Wiki's normally coaching position information solid. Chip is a trip and my math sucks. Chip was 9 years coaching DB/special teams, OLB/safeties, 1 year as a DC, two years as OL coach and 3 years RB coach, and then went to OC? Who does that, and then excels? When Wiki listed him as only OC and not QB coach at New Hampshire and Oregon I thought it was strange, but I already thought his first 9 years was a strange path to OC! I knew he had Helf after two years at Oregon, so I took Wiki at its word. There must be more Chips story at New Hampshire before he became OC that's missing. I would think he must have been acting like a CO-OC before he just jumped in as OC. I would also think he has spent some time with an OC coach working with OB's? How do you just jump into OC-QB coach cold turkey? Chip Kelly - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG -

Can QB Development Improve Under Dillingham?
DazeNconfused replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good post! Write that article up! Helf is always a conversation topic. I thought he was too soft a type of guy personality wise, and a team takes on a coached demeanor. I like me a Dave Wannstedt type coach. Helf also appeared to make bad moves with Coach Pellum and then Brady Hooke. But maybe our defense was bound to fall apart without Coach Alliotti, looking back the man was really a great DC and that was overshadowed by the high-flying offense. Helf really needed to lean on Mullens, Knight and should have thrown huge money at a TOP DC.
