  1. Your right CHL was the goal line dude and he was only 215lbs but scored a ton of goal line TD's! I'm caught up with having a 230lb short yardage back, no disrespect to CHL.
  2. FYI- AB last year regressed under Mario, he was over 9 yards a pass and a 154.5 passer rating his junior year at BC. But the comparison you posted of AB last year and Bo last year shows, AB had better stats. (PAC vrs SEC though.) I think your confused with my reference to Chad Morris/Taj Boyd. I'm not comparing numbers; I'm saying Morris has chops when you look what he did with Boyd at Clemson. The point I was trying to make is Nix had one of the Top 10, maybe Top 5 QB Gurus in Morris and he didn't show much improvement. Nix has been from the low 120's to 130 passers rating his three years. Now it falls to Dillingham to try to get Bo to make that jump. If Nix don't make the jump, I won't be blaming Dilly or Morris.
  3. Thanks for posting, I got a great laugh reading the UCLA 11-1 pipe dream
  4. The disagreement and discussion are welcome, and you have a valid point in the level of Comp in the SEC.
  5. I get your point and hope Bo is better in the Pac than he was in the SEC. But let's ask ourselves why Bo was worse than SEC QB's Kellen Mond, Kyle Trask, Felipe Franks, Stenson Bennett, Hendon Hooker the last two years? Notice I Ieft Mac Jones and Bryce Young off that list?
  6. I get your points and they are legit. I'm saying Morris turned out Taj Boyd and recruited Deshawn Watson and coached him his freshman year. Morris has QB coaching chops along with his OC swagger. Why didn't Nix improve his year under Morris? I'd love to hear what Morris thinks of Bo, does he think he is a bust or has great potential? I compared AB's stats in the ACC to Bo's stats in the SEC and I won't argue that the SEC isn't better competition. ( BTW - AB's stats were worse in the Pac under Mario) Let's get back to AB's stats at BC: they are right there with Herberts senior year passer rating of 156 and they both threw for over 9 yards per pass. I think it's possible Nix can come in and match that type of production, we know Herbs was held back his senior year, but he was still good. If Nix can be that good, then we could be in the playoff hunt with the defense we have. If Nix in a more open offensive scheme, with this Oline and skill guys can't match those AB-Herb numbers then we got a problem.
  7. Some posters have hit on the "Grit" Bo has. That's a great point I maybe was selling him short on. The Kid is one heck of an athlete, and he seems to give 110% every game and leave it all on the field.
  8. This supports my thoughts that if Dilly gets Nix to stop making stupid plays and focus on distributing the ball to his play makers, Bo could still be good enough keep us in the Playoff picture late in the year. The potential is there.
  9. Here is my article from last week looking at where coach Dillingham got his Chops that he needs to use to get Bo to the next level this year. Oregon OC Kenny Dillingham Has Surprises in His Coaching Tree FISHDUCK.COM New 32-year-old OC Kenny Dillingham's age is making Oregon fans ask "how can he have the experience and acumen being so young, and yet ready for the primetime?
  10. I have more articles coming that dig into the Ducks offense and defense, that will give more perspective. But to your point... Bo can be successful this year! He had the best Oline ever in front of him, Cardwell is a feature back, Thornton and Fraklin are future NFL picks! Bo needs to embrace being a ball distributor to his guys and let them make plays. He needs to calm himself down and know he can throw the ball away and come back next snap and bust a play. Bo can still scramble and extend plays but if there isn't a guy open throw the ball away. Bo can settle down, manage the game and feed the rock to his guys while avoiding the Dumb plays he has been known to make. Nix don't have to play in style where he is trying to do it all. If Bo embraces that he may have a great year!
  11. Nix didn't get his scheme changed three times. HC Malzhan was a long time OC and QB coach and the offense Bo's first year under Dilly wasn't much of a change when Morris came in. All, three coaches are part of the same coaching tree of Todd Graham, they are all friends, the scheme is pretty much the same. So, Nix didn't get a real system change until his third year with Bobo as his OC.
  12. Chad Morris his second OC was a home run hire. He had Taj Boyd at Clemson who threw for over 10,000 yards and over 100 TD;s. Morris also recruited Deshawn Watson and was there though his freshman year, The fact is Morris ran pretty much the same scheme as Malzahn and Dillingham did at Auburn, so it wasn't a big change for Nix. What is telling is that Nix didn't improve in his year under Morris. How come Taj Boyd was great under Morris and Nix didn't improve? Last the ACC to SEC comparison between AB and Bo don't explain why. Bo was a worse QB in the SEC than Kellen Mond, Felipe Franks, Kyle Trask, Matt Corral, Stenson Bennet, Hendon Hooker the last two years? Bo Nix was bottom half of the SEC for QB's.
  13. The USC line sucked at run blocking in 2020, they were better last year. Nebraska didn't use Stepp much, he was stuck behind the backs with breakaway burst speed. I'd use Stepp as the goal line and short yardage back He don't need a high yards per carry, just move the chains and cross the goal line. I might also give him a series or two if I really want to pound a team with my Oline and set a physically dominant tone. We just don't have a back I'm not holding my breath on 3rd and short and we haven't had a dude since Royce Freeman. I'd like us to have a back that on 3rd and short I feel like with his power and our Oline that if we get stopped, I got to tip my hat to the defense.
  14. I'm from the school of thought every team needs a short yardage back. Yes, Noah would fit that role. For as hard as Verdell ran, he could be stopped stone cold by a lineman and Dye more so. Noah is going to drag a lineman for a yard after contact. Stepp by the way averaged 6.2 yards a carry for USC before he got hurt in 2019 and I saw him play. Kid is a load.
  15. Someone help me out here. The transfer portal page says he is immediately eligible. Since he has transferred once then he must be a Grad Transfer? Or did the NCCA change the rules so you can transfer twice now? Also, he wasn't in the Portal by May 1st so he shouldn't be eligible for 2022? Who is the Transfer rule Guru who has the answer to those questions?
  16. Markeese Step 6'1" and 230lbs is in the Transfer Portal. The USC recruit transferred to Nebraska and now is back in the portal and immediately eligible to play. We have lacked a true power-short yardage back for a long time and I think we should grab this dude. With our big Oline it would be nice have a back who drags guys after contact down at the goal line or on 3rd and short. Here is the link, he is 8th player down from the top. I think he's a 4th year junior. 2022 College Football Transfer Portal 247SPORTS.COM 2022 College Football Transfer Portal
  17. Huh? Personnel???? Flowe and Sewell are the top two inside linebackers from the 2020 class and the highest rated starting pair in college football. Dorlus and Popo both were selected first team ALL-Pac! Taki was rated the firth best DL in the Pac last year by Pro Football Focus, and Popo and Dorlus were in that top five. We got Gonzo who was All-Pac paired with five-star Manning at the corners. Bennett Williams was a freshman All-American DJ Johnson and Mase Funa were both Top 75 recruits on the 247 composite. Our defense is more experienced than Georgia and will be the better unit on Sept 3rd. We have Lanning's schemes, and this is a top 3 defense in the SEC and will be the best defense since Gang Green! You can quote me and check back in 16 weeks.
  18. We finally passed UW, I was realllllllyyyy sweating that one. haha. On 247 we have 8 four stars to 4 for UW. We have 3 three stars and UW has 15! We have a better shot as getting 15 four stars than UW getting 8.
  19. That's a lot of hand wringing when we beat OSU last year, Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, 2019, MSU in the Red Box 2018 and Nebraska 2017 in Autzen. That's a 4-0 streak. The B1G teams put their pants on one leg at a time like we do. We beat OSU legit last year, the problem is AB was at his Ceiling already and didn't get any better! The Utah DC Scalley had all that game film to scheme for AB and we did NOTHING to break TENDENCIES. Now if we would have come out running Tempo and taking some deep shots Utah would have had to adjust to that. In 2019 we beat Utah and Wisconsin by running Herbs and breaking TENDENCIES. I think the Ducks are going to be just fine in the future.
  20. Anyone wonder who the LEADERS in the locker room are? These dudes are all business!
  21. We got Lanning in here just at the right time. We got Flowe-Sewell 5-stars inside backed up by Bassa-LaDuke-Brown all 4-stars Edge LB's we got Funa-DJ Top 80 dudes on the 247 Composite. Plus, the pass rush freak in Swinson, Charles opened my eyes even more to how Swinny has improved! I'm officially on the Swinny pass rush hype train.
  22. I can't argue either way with how he sees #1 Taki and #2 Popo. It's a close call and I think you split snaps to keep them fresh late in the game. Swinson #1 over Funa is ridiculous in my book. Does this guy watch the games? Funa is a great edge setter in our run game defense, it's his strong point. Funa is average as a pash rusher. Swinson was a huge drop off from Funa setting the edge in the run game. He's smaller, not as strong and his technique wasn't good. To many times I saw Swinny come inside and shallow, the completely wrong way you set a run edge. Swinson needs to improve on getting straight across the line of scrimmage one yard to set that edge and keep outside leverage> Trevon Mae struggled in this as well last year. I have Funa as the 1st and second down guy, with Swinson as the guy who comes in as the pass rush specialist. Funa will get the most snaps this year, but Swinson in the fewer snaps he gets will make more game changing impact plays. Swinny probably will have the highest ratio of impact plays to snaps on the team. Lastly, I don't' see Jamall Hill as the #1 at the Star over Bennett Williams. I've seen Hill get way too many times in coverage and he doesn't possess the run game support skills Willimas does.
  23. Not a bad post. I see it as how many games we can possibly lose with our talent, and that number is two. UGA and Utah. If we were in the SEC we would be tied for 5th with Florida in blue-chip talent behind Bama, UGA, Texas aTm, LSU If we were in the B1G its The OSU and Ducks at #2 If we were in the Big12 its' Chokelahoma, Texas and Ducks. We have new offensive scheme that will make defenses defend the more than 12 yards deep and we don't have the Tendencies we did under Mario. In 2019 we broke Tendencies against Utah and Wisconsin by running Herbs and they didn't know what hit them. We have Lanning so our D scheme is going to be as GOOD as it gets, he will unleash our talent. Dilly has chops and will be an upgrade from Moorehead being shackled by Mario. Cardwell, we know is good, Dollars has plenty of talent, the transfers also. Dilly had a good run game at Memphis, we are fine. Franklin was #41 and Thorton like #51 on the 247 Composite, the rest of the WR's are all top 200 guys, we won't miss Devon, JJ, Pitt or Redd. We didn't have KT all year and part of the time he wasn't 100%. We got DJ, Swinny, Dorlus solid pass rush guys! Flowe and Sewell will be used by Lanning in his elite blitz schemes, we will have a better pass rush this year by far. Veron had a great year the media made him an All-American and he didn't get drafted! Just shows the media are stupid for the most part. We lost Wright but got Gonzo, 5-star Mannings time is now. We got Bennett, Stephans will all kinds of game snaps, along with Bridges, Addison as the long rangy back-end guys. Tosh was a DC at Bama for one year and back from the NFL and has Lanning to lean on. Dilly has got this no problem he's been groomed for this, Klemm is back from the NFL to college. The only thing I'm sweating is if we get elite QB play. The only two game we have an excuse for losing is Utah and UGA
