Heisman Watch: Bo Nix a Favorite
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
LSU has taken the lead in the 4th and Daniels is throwing some dimes and broke off another huge run. The Heisman is going to be close and, hopefully, the Southern voters don't pull off any shenanigans. -
Just in: Smith leaving OSU for Michigan State!

Jonathan Smith...STAY With the Beavers!
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If Oregon State were financially responsible, they should assume that they will get no better than Mountain West annual revenue and pay a coach in line of what Boise State, Fresno State and other non-Power 5 programs have typically paid their head coach and assistants. It appears that's somewhere been $1 and $2 million per year for a head football coach. -
Jonathan Smith...STAY With the Beavers!
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's a big blow to Oregon State's program. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a mass exodus of players in the transfer portal, some of whom may follow Smith to MSU. -
Can Ty Thompson Raise His Game and Lead Ducks in '24?
OregonDucks replied to QuackAttack's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree, Charles, and thank you for this forum to discuss OBD. One thing that Duck fans should mentally prepare for...whomever is Oregon's QB next season, will be a step back from what we are witnessing this year from Bo Nix. It would be unfair to compare anyone to Bo and not expect a slight step back in offensive production next year. Bo is special, and the most experienced QB in college football history. We should enjoy watching #10 play his final few collegiate games. Go Ducks!!! -
Any rational Husky fan (if one exists) has to be extremely worried about playing a motivated Oregon in the conference championship game. We have looked as good as any team in the country since that game in Seattle, whereas Washington has continued to scrape by. That said, I'm nervous playing Washington. They have had our number of the past 2 seasons. Oregon is the better team, IMHO, but until we beat them on the field, nothing else matters. Our defense needs to step up and Bo Nix and the offense needs to be sharp.

Ohio State vs Michigan: What Helps the Ducks Playoff Chances?
OregonDucks replied to Dave23's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just take care of business and beat Bama! While it sucks, Georgia deserves a shot in the playoffs at a back to back national champions. The only thing that keeps Georgia out is 2 losses (extremely unlikely) or if they get blown out by Bama (also unlikely). -

Ohio State vs Michigan: What Helps the Ducks Playoff Chances?

A blowout would help Oregon's chances the most. Doesn't matter if it's Michigan or Ohio State. Looking like's it going to be a 3-0 game, at this point. -
Can Ty Thompson Raise His Game and Lead Ducks in '24?
OregonDucks replied to QuackAttack's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I also disagree with those that say that a QB can't improve. As I mentioned above, Ty Thompson has all of the physical abilities you'd look for in a QB (e.g., athleticism, arm strength, size), it's just putting them all together. Players are capable of growing with good coaching, in the right situation, as long as they have the physical abilities. Off the top of my head, below are some examples of QBs who drastically improved by their senior seasons (there are countless other examples): Joe Borrow Carson Palmer Akili Smith Dennis Dixon I believe that the coaches should bring in an experienced QB to complete for the starting job next season but I wouldn't write off Ty Thompson, yet. Even if he doesn't win the starting job next year, he could do really well his senior year or somewhere else. -
Easily Florida State. Oregon exposed an undefeated Florida State in the first ever college football playoff in the Rose Bowl. We'd do it again. I just hope that Oregon takes care of the mutts and has an opportunity to play in the college football playoffs. Go Florida! Knock off FSU today in the Swamp.

Are Oregon's Corners Too Physical for the Pac-12?
OregonDucks replied to David Marsh's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I hope that they don’t dial it back and continue to play physical and aggressive. It’ll benefit us in the post-season and next year. -
Except it’s not really “fricken.” Dan Lanning had a FEBU shirt on in one of the Ducks vs. Them videos.

Can Ty Thompson Raise His Game and Lead Ducks in '24?
OregonDucks replied to QuackAttack's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ty Thompson has all of the physical gifts you'd want in a QB - size, athleticism, a huge arm, etc. This year he appears to be making better decisions (with the exception of the interception in the ASU game) and throwing accurate passes. I hope that TT continues to improve and leads Oregon to a B1G championship next year! -
Concerns About Flexibility with Oregon OC Will Stein...
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My only remaining concern with Will Stein is his creativity/play selection on 4th and short. There are plenty of plays to scheme guys wide open and/or to provide RPOs with a mobile QB. I hope that he has added some of them to his playbook in case we need them in our remaining games. Two things that I have been most pleased with (1) letting Bo retain complete control of the offense, including the ability to check at the line of scrimmage and (2) his development of QBs, as Ty Thompson looks better out there this year. Stein appears to be another great hire by Dan Lanning (we'll have to see how he does over the next few years without Bo Nix at QB). -
The Heisman and Mr. Perkins' Editorial
OregonDucks replied to Rougaroux's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And Bo's not even playing full games! -
I disagree. Caleb reminds me of a bigger Patrick Mahomes. His accuracy downfield and playmaking abilities on the run is special. He has a strong and accurate arm and is tough to bring down due to his size. He is a baller and could be a superstar at the next level, if he is surrounded by the right supporting cast.

Fox Sports Mock Draft: Bo Nix #5 Overall to NY Giants
OregonDucks replied to OregonDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I've seen other mock drafts that has Bo going #20 to Minnesota and another #8 to Atlanta. -
Perfect fit for an LA team...
-
I haven't seen a mock draft with Bo going this high (many have him going middle to late first round) but it shows you how much Bo has improved his draft stock by coming back this year and playing well. I certainly hope he doesn't go to a NY team, for his sake... 2024 NFL mock draft: Caleb Williams first of 5 QBs in top 9 picks WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM There has never been a draft in which five QBs were picked in the top 10. The 2024 class may change all of that, with USC's Caleb Williams leading a talented group.

However, this moment was pretty special for the program and still brings tears to my eyes...

I posted this in another thread. My personal favorite play against Oregon State was Keenan Howry’s punt return for a TD. It was a miserable day and both offenses were struggling. Oregon was down by 3 at the start of the fourth quarter, until... Immediately after Howry's TD, the rain started to come down even harder to the cheers of the Oregon fans at Autzen. It was like we were getting a little assist from someone up above.

Juicy Quotes from the ESPN Crew Towards Oregon...Whew!

Unforeseen QUADRUPLE Payoff Over Next Two Games!
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I wonder if this will impact how Oregon State plays on Friday. We all saw Oregon's two thrashings to Utah with the Mario Cristobal to Miami chatter. If he were focused on the Oregon job, we might have seen a different result in the Pac-12 championship game. That's one of the reasons that I was glad that Dan Lanning shut down the Texas A&M talk, right away!
