  1. Newweasell did pick the Ducks in the first osu2 game...
  2. The article is behind a paywall so I couldn't read it but I remember Coach Lanning saying that he had a short list of coaches. I'm sure that he continues to update it based on what he sees and hears. Never a bad idea, given the constant staff turnovers at the best programs.
  3. I will be disappointed if Oregon loses in the Rose Bowl or doesn't win the National Championship Game this year because they are just as talented and experienced as any team in the country. I LOVE this team and watching them play for each other and represent the University of Oregon. This is a special group. All I ask is that they play their game and leave it all out on the field. No regrets. GO DUCKS!!!
  4. I hope that Coach Lanning and staff leaves everything on the field in the Rose Bowl. On offense, send Stewart deep early and often. If Ohio State has a deep safety over the top find Tez, T-Ferg or the running backs out of the backfield. If not, bombs away with a QB that throws as good of a deep ball as you'll find in football. If Ohio State is aggressive and blitzes, as some have suggested, then hopefully we'll hit them with screens to our running backs, tight ends and wide receivers or quick slants/crosses over the middle of the field. Unleash DG to use his legs, as a major weapon against this terrific Ohio State defense. Just instruct him to get down or get out of bounds instead of taking on Ohio State tacklers unless it's a critical 3rd or 4th down or goal line situation. On defense, I'm sure that we'll see if our front 4 can get pressure, especially with Jordan Burch back and healthy, without having to blitz. If not, then hopefully we'll see our defensive coaches utilize the zone blitzes / simulated pressures that Coach Lanning learned from Coach Smart. As I mentioned in another thread, I would double team Jeremiah Smith (who might be the best WR in college football despite being a freshman) and force Ohio State's other wide receivers to beat you. Go Ducks! Beat the Bucks!
  5. Current odds to win the College Football National Championship: Texas: +300 Ohio State: +375 Oregon: +400 Penn State: +500 Georgia: +550 Notre Dame: +600 Arizona State: +6000 Boise State: +6000 Whomever wins the Rose Bowl should jump to be the favorite to win the National Championship.
  6. "The deafening silence of those at ESPN [after Ohio State blew out Tennessee] combined with Herbstreit’s gibberish about wins shouldn’t matter, tells you they do not care about college football as a whole. They only care about their partnership with the SEC." Well said! Herbstreit is really ruining his good reputation, all for E$PN / $EC.
  7. Oregon Ducks vs Ohio State Buckeyes Rose Bowl PREDICTION & Preview | CFB Playoff Round 2
  8. “Just his size and athleticism. God doesn’t make a lot of people that look like Jordan Burch,” -- Coach Lanning
  9. Hopefully Coach Smart and Coach Lanning stay where they both are for a long time and we see many epic college football playoff and championship matchups between those two for many years to come. (As long as Coach Lanning wins one of those incredibly elusive college football championships, I will be a content Duck fan for the rest of my life...)
  10. ON3 | Ohio State Buckeyes vs Oregon Ducks REMATCH in Rose Bowl, College Football Playoff | Day vs Lanning
  11. It’ll be interesting to see if the coaches have the confidence in Jabbar to shadow Jeremiah or have Nikko cover him with safety help. (And if whatever they decide to do is not working, can they make the adjustment in-game?)
  12. Michigan has a better run defense than does Oregon. I agree that you have to help with Jeremiah Smith (bracket coverage) and make someone else on the Ohio State offense beat you though. He is a really special talent.
  13. Hopefully Coach Stein has some blitz counters lined up and ready to go (I’m sure he will). T-Ferg and Tez could have big games, if Ohio State blitzes a lot. Hopefully Evan Stewart is the downfield threat he was in the first game. Is it just me or has he been really quiet lately?
  14. I’m extremely nervous about the Rose Bowl. Ohio State may be one of the top 2 teams in the playoffs. They certainly have as much talent as anyone in the country. Ohio State beat Oregon in the last 2 Rose Bowls that we played against them and the National Championship Game. Hopefully, Oregon’s recent success against the Buckeyes carries over to this playoff game.
  15. If the current B1G Conference was in place last year, Michigan, Washington, Oregon and Ohio State would have deserved to be in the college football playoffs. I don’t like the idea of an arbitrary cutoff. The top x number of teams should be in the playoffs and seeded based on the committee’s rankings (like they do in the NCAA basketball tournament). I would reduce the number of teams to 6-8, eliminate the conference championship games and start the playoffs earlier so that they wrap up in early January. (And they should push the transfer portal to start after the playoffs conclude.)
  16. Penn State and Oregon both played Ohio State tougher than Tennessee. Heck, even Indiana had a similar game against the Buckeyes, so if Indiana shouldn’t have been in the playoffs than neither should have Tennessee.
  17. Tennessee certainly didn’t look like they belonged in the playoffs last night (I don’t want to hear any more SEC grips) and Texas looked far from dominant. Indiana lost to Ohio State by 23; Tennessee by 25.
  18. Clemson TD makes it a 7 point game with 11:43 remaining
  19. I don’t know how USC can afford to keep Coach Riley. USC is a sinking ship.
  20. RIP. The GOAT leadoff hitter and base runner. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll ever see anyone like him again. RIP, Ricky. I loved watching you play. Gone too soon.
  21. Well, Oregon did play and beat 3 playoff teams this year (Ohio State, Penn State and Boise State). SEC schools have a history of canceling home-and-home series with West Coast schools, including Oregon (e.g., Texas A&M). Oregon swept home-and-home series against Tennessee and Miss State (credit those programs for traveling to Eugene!). Their fans, by all accounts, were first class. Most SEC schools would never schedule an away game against Oregon (we had to play LSU and Auburn in Dallas and Georgia in Atlanta for “neutral site” games). No thanks to any more of those “neutral site” regular season games in SEC county. (I can’t believe that Oregon might have to play Texas in Dallas and Georgia in Atlanta as the #1 seed in the playoffs!). Texas A&M Aggies drop USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks - ESPN - Pac-12 Blog- ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM When Texas A&M was a member of the Big 12, it scheduled home-and-home series with USC and...
  22. So must have Boise State (34 points given up) and Ohio State’s (31 points given up) offenses. Guess we’d better be ready for Tennessee/Ohio State, Texas and Georgia to be “playing lights out” on offense too. No more Purdues, UCLAs, Michigan teams remaining on the schedule…
  23. It's the only way that Penn State is scoring. I'm not going to lie...it makes me even more nervous about Oregon's defense (or lack thereof). They feasted on the bad B1G offenses but didn't show up against the best teams this year (e.g., Boise State, osu2, Penn State).
