As I said in another post.... If this were 1991, the 2024-25 Oregon Ducks football team would have already been crowned the unanimous National Champions. We are 13-0 and have already won the traditional Rose Bowl match-up in the B1G Conference Championship Game against Penn State (we also beat Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin this year for good measure). What Oregon (or any other team) has to do this year to win the National Championship is 1,000x harder than what Washington had to do to win their share of a national championship.

LOL. I'm sure his employer Disney/ABC/ESPN (who owns the SEC contract) was not happy about his take...

The top B1G teams took care of business against teams they were supposed to beat; the SEC teams did not. It's as simple as that. Beat the teams that you should beat or shut up.

But doesn't the-on-field success of the former Pac-10 schools - two conference championships and two playoff teams -- show that the Pac-10 was worth the $$$? Not to mention the footprint and access to later night TV inventory. It still doesn't make sense to me why a West Coast conference was not viable. The brand of football and entertainment value was certainly more entertaining than the B1G, SEC, Big-XII, etc. How are the LA teams feeling about their larger TV shares, now? TV Execs - Did you get a good return for your investment in the LA schools?

After last night, I would put Penn State ahead of Texas.

And at the time, I believe that Ohio State was ranked #1 and Penn State was #3. DG has won the biggest games, against the best teams in college football, on the biggest stages. That doesn't show up in his stat line but should be weighted heavily by the Heisman voters, IMO. He has had his "Heisman Moments."

If you haven't been to a Rose Bowl game, I would highly encourage you to book your tickets and travel plans to Pasadena, CA! Get there super early to partake in the Rose Bowl Parade and then walk over to the stadium. Get an LA dog outside of the stadium. It is most spectacular setting and post season/bowl game environment in college football. Who knows how many more opportunities we'll see in our lifetime to play in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day, given the changing college football landscape.

I'm not saying that he will win the Heisman but recently the award has gone to the QB on the best team in college football. Dillon Gabriel is the QB for the #1 and only undefeated team in college football. Yards: 3,558 Completion %: 73.2% TDs: 28 Interceptions: 6 Rating: 166.6 Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty are terrific players but they also put up their numbers against inferior completion. Why change the recent criteria this season?

The committee said that they wouldn't punish anyone for losing the conference championship game. To stick to their word, they had to pick SMU over Bama. Credit to them for sticking by their word. That said, I would rather play SMU than Bama. The Tide have one of the most talented rosters in college football and would be dangerous in the playoffs, if they got hot. They need to adjust the seeding, as it gives too much weight to conference champions and not enough to the "best" teams.

I hope that some team gives him a shot in the NFL. He's undersized but could be a very good slot/possession receiver. If not my Niners...Denver or the Chargers, please?

Is it just me or does Oregon have the hardest path the national championship, as a #1 seed? Oregon will have to play the winner of Tennessee/Ohio State, then likely Texas and the winner of Penn State/Georgia. We might have to beat Ohio State and Penn State for a second time this season (never easy to do).

That's what Joey Harrington was saying on Talkin' Ducks a couple of weeks ago. Even though you have to play an extra game, you are going against less talented teams as the #5 seed. The current playoff seeding does not make sense and needs to be adjusted. Seed based on who you believe are the top teams (like the NCAA basketball tournament does).

They need to adjust the playoff seeding / format. Beside the bye, what's the advantage of being a #1 seed? The #5 seed has an easier road to the final 4.

Yikes. That is not an easy second round game. I think I'd rather play Tennessee.

Tez's story pulls at my heart strings. An undersized and under-the-radar WR, who grew up an Oregon Ducks football fan (in Alabama), adopted by the Nix family and found his way to Eugene, Oregon to show everyone what he is capable of. Congrats on becoming the first wide receiver to win the Big-10 Conference Championship MVP! [And he's not done, yet!] Hey Tez: "Once a Duck, Always a Duck!"

Wasn't he targeted on that key 3rd and long play in the 4th quarter? It seems like a mix up between the WR and QB because the ball was thrown well short.
