GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Welp. It looks like Ohio State is taking control of the game now. Still not overly concerned with the Buckeyes, as Indiana has not played one ranked team this season. -

GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!

They are both very beatable, as is every team this year. Oregon needs to get healthy, get their rhythm back on offense (getting players back might solve this) and play up to their standard. It should be a fun ride the rest of the way! -

I don't know if I have ever seen a team get away with more penalties than Ohio State does (e.g., PI, holds). -

Ohio State is an arrogant bunch - their coaches and players believe that they can line up and beat anybody with their talent. Indiana came to play today, is well coached and is in the game. The muffed punt is unfortunate. -
Lanning’s Most Crucial Defender is ALMOST Finished…
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon has had better individual defensive lineman (e.g., Ngata, Thibs) but, I agree, I can't recall a defensive line with more talent and production across the entire front (and the depth coming off the sidelines to keep everyone fresh is also very impressive). What are some of Oregon's best defensive lines, prior to this season? -
Someone on the radio was joking around (sort of) that Darian Mensah will be at Oregon next season. I've watched some of his highlights and he's mobile (like DG but is not built as stout - he's listed at 6' 3" and 200 lbs.), throws a nice catchable ball, is accurate (65.9 completion %) and makes good decisions (18 TDs to 4 interceptions). His game is similar to Dante Moore, only he's slightly more mobile. Of course, he is doing that against lower level competition. Darian is only a freshman and he is from San Luis Obispo, CA (SCO Ducks! = Southern California Oregon Ducks, despite what anyone else tells you). Unless DT and Novosad are absolutely killing it in practice, I would be surprised if Oregon didn't look for a transfer QB. Even if they are, it wouldn't hurt to have some depth in the QB room.

Lanning’s Most Crucial Defender is ALMOST Finished…
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
LOL. Great article! Coach Lanning and Tosh don't ask much from their defenders: * Inside linebackers: Must be big enough to take on blockers and stop the run but athletic enough to run sideline to sideline * Nose Tackle: Must be a two gap run stuffer, who requires double teams * Strongside DE: Must be able to make sacks and cover the perimeter * DBs: Need lockdown corners * Safeties: Need speed and the ability to make big hits * STAR: Need to play like a linebacker, defensive end and cover in space It sounds as though they just need 11 future NFL players on the field with some future pro bowlers sprinkled in (e.g., inside linebackers, DEs, STAR). Luckily, there aren't many recruiters better than Coach Lanning, Tosh and the rest of the staff. -
Remove the lights from their stadiums? Problem solved. No more night games!

Ruh-Roh! Buckeyes Take ANOTHER Hit on Offensive Line...

Never want to see these kids go down with a season ending injury. Feel terrible for him and hopes he makes a full recovery. -
Klatt Gets it Exactly Right About the Ducks!

Or one second and a slide (at home)… -
Honestly, this is one record that I’d never thought I’d see equaled or surpassed in my lifetime. Coach Lanning is absolutely killing it. So glad that AD Mullens and everyone else involved in the search process chose him. The future of the Oregon football program with Coach Lanning is darn bright (and the grass is very green in Eugene)!

I was guilty of under appreciating Tez and didn’t realize how important to the Oregon Ducks’ 2024-25 offense. I’ll really enjoy watching him (and the other seniors) the rest of the season. A good discussion topic for the offseason - who will be able to replace Tez’s productivity and impact next season?

A Little Birdie Updated Me About Oregon's Injuries....
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks for the update. Glad it’s good news all around. If there is any doubt, I would hold the player out for Washington, as well really need those players for the B1G CG and the playoffs. Go Ducks!!! -
Not Pretty but Still Perfect: No. 1 Ducks Rally Late
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
While an ugly win is better than a loss, college football has always been a beauty contest since there are uneven schedules and a high percentage of the teams do not advance to a tournament. Although style points don’t matter as much for those at the top of the rankings (like OBD), they do matter for teams looking to earn an at large spot in the college football playoffs. -

Thank goodness for the bye week. Hope the coaches use it to get the players healthy and fresh for the Washington game and beyond. -
Hope the defense gets props. They have been more consistent this season than the offense. Defense wins championships.
-
Hope Caldwell will be okay. Have Oregon had a better interior defensive line duo than Caldwell and Harmon?
-
Matayo = game MVP
-
WTH?!!!
-
You have to kick the FG here and hope your defense can do it one last time.
-
Great game by the D! They won this game for Oregon. The only TD Wisconsin scored was when the D was gassed.
-
Still held Oregon to a FG. The defense needs to come up with a big stop, one more time.
