  1. Can an SEC like built team compete in the B1G? We are about to find out. Oregon = Georgia West Based on how Dan Lanning is building the team (quantity of dudes, cleaning up on defense, adding talented skill players). He’s learned from Kirby Smart and Nick Saban. Getting most of the top players in California and West of the Mississippi. Is there a better coach at flipping commits with signing day coming up? Good stuff. Worth the listen.
  2. Mario also chased star rankings. I have a lot more faith in our current staff’s ability to evaluate talent and not just rely on the recruiting rankings.
  3. You could make the case that Helfrich was the best evaluator of QB talent but he wasn’t an elite recruiter. IIRC, Tua Tagovailoa grew up a Marcus Mariota and Oregon Ducks fan. There is no way that Lanning and Stein would have let Tua get away (see Dillon Gabriel).
  4. Average viewers by million (Nielsen rated games) 1. Alabama 7.12 (11) 2. Ohio State 6.05 (11) 3. Colorado 6.00 (9) 4. Georgia 5.90 (11) 5. Michigan 5.61 (12) 6. Tennessee 4.57 (7) 7. Oregon 4.43 (10) 8. Texas 4.26 (12) 9. Florida State 4.16 (12) 10. Notre Dame 4.15 (10) Washington (11), USC (13) …ahead of Texas and Notre Dame! https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaaf/college-football-programs-nielsen-ratings
  5. Ohio State has had some really good WRs over the past few years. Hopefully, Jeremiah McClellan fits the mold.
  6. BREAKING: Kansas State S Kobe Savage to transfer to Oregon Ducks SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The Ducks just landed a big-time player at a major position of need. Kansas State safety Kobe...
  7. Dante Moore commits to Oregon: Ex-UCLA QB, one-time Ducks commit, joins Dillon Gabriel through transfer portal - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Moore was committed to Oregon before flipping to UCLA late in the recruiting cycle
  8. Charles called it a couple of weeks ago!!! Gabriel and Moore to Oregon… “Though the Ducks were able to land Oklahoma transfer Dillon Gabriel earlier in the month, they still managed to convince Moore to come to Eugene and develop under one of the best young offensive coordinators in the nation, waiting in the wing for a year with the promise of taking over one of the most explosive offenses in all of college football in 2025. In terms of wins in the transfer portal, it’s hard to image a bigger victory for the Oregon Ducks at this point. With Heisman finalist Bo Nix heading off to the NFL, Lanning and the Ducks now landed two of the best passers on the open market this offseason, setting up his team for as bright of a future as you could imagine.” BREAKING: UCLA QB Dante Moore to transfer to Oregon Ducks SPORTS.YAHOO.COM History repeats itself. Dante Moore is going to be a Duck.
  9. Kobe Savage has the potential to be the best safety Oregon has had in years. He is a hard hitting safety, who makes plays in open space, and has good ball skills. Oregon’s safeties have been mediocre in pass coverage the past few years. I didn’t get a good sense for Kobe’s coverage abilities in the below highlight video but he looks plenty fast and athletic to be a good coverage safety.
  10. Jay Harris runs a lot like Bucky Irving, IMHO. Great balance and runs tough. Not sure he has Bucky’s top-end speed (we’ll see). Very good pickup. This is one of the things that I like about the transfer portal - the opportunity for a talented player to show what he can do at the highest levels of college football.
  11. Herbert should have signed with another franchise, who knows how to build a championship team around him. The Chargers have no fans (Cacker Guy might be the only one left!) and are a joke of an organization.
  12. The difference is that Moore played early and came to the personal realization that if he wants to become the QB he is capable of becoming then he might be better served sitting behind a veteran QB and learning (a very mature, thoughtful approach). Malachi had that opportunity last year and now wants to see what he can do on the field. I definitely don’t blame him for wanting to play and I do not blame Riley for pursuing a transfer QB, if he believes that Malachi is not ready and someone gives him a better chance to win in 2024. It’s a lot like Oregon’s situation with TT.
  13. “Terms of the amended game contract were not immediately disclosed, but a source with knowledge of the matter told The Oregonian/OregonLive the total payouts from UO to BSU for the two games will be $2.6 million. The existing contract called for the home team to pay the visitor $300,000 in 2024 and 2025 and UO to pay BSU $800,000 in 2026, with $1 million for breach of contract.” Oregon is reportedly paying $2.6M to Boise State to shift around the schedule to play the Civil War the next 2 years. That’s a lot of money to pay especially given the team you are trying to help is trying to stick it to you financially.
  14. Want to see their heads explode? Go on that thread and tell them that Oregon recovered the onside kick. LOL.
  15. I have PTSD watching NAi’s defenses. His defenses were very good when he had experienced, lock down corners but it was painful to watch when he didn’t. I still remember two young but very talented CBs getting absolutely torched and NA not making any adjustments. He refused to play zone or have safeties over the top, and insisted on leaving his corners on islands. In other words, he didn’t adjust for the talent he had. I always knew the opposing offense would pick up a 3rd and long (and consequently hoped for a 3rd and short instead). I love Nick but Dan Lanning is 1,000x better as a defensive coach.
  16. I don’t think it’s an either-or. Oregon should continue to sign high school QBs in the hopes they will strike gold with one. If the coaches aren’t convinced they have a QB who can compete for a conference championship and spot in the playoffs, then they should hit the transfer portal for a proven QB. If Oregon had a young Marcus Mariota or Justin Herbert, we wouldn’t have needed Nix or Gabriel.
  17. That stinks. I liked what I saw from him in the limited carries he had last season.
  18. It’s apparent that OSU and WSU are desperate to keep the PAC-12 conference name alive, even if everyone knows that it’s a shell of its former glory. I’m assuming that the PAC-12 would be liable for any damages awarded and not the individual member schools? If that’s the case, then the PAC-12 could just declare bankruptcy and liquidate. That is what they should do. OSU and WSU could join the Mountain West or form a NEW conference. I’m sure that this will be litigated.
  19. Fortunately, Dan and the assistant coaches have been closing the gap with high school recruiting and portal transfers. I have much more confidence in this coaching staff’s ability to identify and develop talent.
  20. In general, I wonder if our coaching staff is making room for some potential high school and/or transfer portal commits. I’m not referring to any specific recruits in this thread Of course some of these kids could just be exploring their options. I wonder what percent of early commitments sign with the school they committed to vs. someone who commits later in the process?
  21. I doubt that Georgia got up for any of those games. These are still college kids. Oregon definitely got Georgia’s best shot.
  22. You could have brought back Justin Herbert or Marcus Mariota for the Georgia game last year and it would not have made a difference in the outcome of the game. Georgia was just that much better at every position (Kirby Smart did not lie in his post-game comments). Our defense could not stop Georgia's offense.
