Well deserved!!! Smoke em’ if you got em’!

Regardless of what happens from here on out, I’m excited about the class that our coaches were able to pull together. We’ve addressed a number of positions of need with elite talent. There are some players who could have an immediate impact. Most importantly we have signed player who want to be Ducks and play in Eugene. As Dan Lanning proudly said not one signee from last year’s class has entered the transfer portal.

Regardless of what Jurrion decides (I hope he’s a Duck), the coaches knocked it out of the park with this class because it has addressed positions of needs. We lost Moore but signed Austin Novosad, who could end up the better college QB. We got transfers from two proven offensive line studs (Ajani Cornelius and Junior Angilau). We signed a number of tall, athletic defensive lineman, headlined by 5-star Matayo Uiagalei and still have a shot at another 5-star David Hicks. We’ve brought in a bunch of secondary talent, including Daylen Austin and brought in another transfer CB from Alabama, who was the #1 JC player last year. I hope that Peyton Bowen sends his LOI to Oregon, if that’s where his heart is but, in not, Oregon will be fine and perhaps looks for a transfer safety. Oregon will be fine at wide receiver. We have Hudson and Franklin returning and signed a transfer from Alabama. No, today was a GREAT day to be a Duck. Our coaches gave recruited positions of needs. We have player signing with Oregon who want to be in Eugene. And we are not done, yet!!!!

Quaaack! Austin Novosad is a Duck

Wow. Coach Lanning said that Will Stein has been high on Austin and has known him since the 8th grade. -
Good Grief! Oregon Has a Shot at a THIRD 5-Star?

LOL. That would be worth the NIL $$$. Make the Trojans regret double crossing the Pac-12!!! -
Hope Hicks reads ESPN. He could be a part of something special.

How Many Quarterbacks Can One Team Sustain?
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It wasn't that long ago that Oregon was down to their 4th or 5th quarterback, playing UCLA in the Rose Bowl. I was there and it was among the worst Oregon offensive performances that I have witnessed. Oregon only gained 148 yards and lost 0-16 (first shutout in 22+ years). The Niners are on their 3rd QB this year and he almost wasn't able to go last game. However, unlike the NFL, college teams cannot trade or pick up free agents during the season. Ducks suffer ugly shutout loss to UCLA KPIC.COM UCLA freshman Kai Forbath kicked three field goals, including a career-long 54-yarder, and the Bruins took advantage of No. 9... -
I didn’t see anything that I didn’t like watching Daylen’s tapes. He is fast, aggressive, makes plays all over the field, plays with a lot of confidence and is a heck of a punt and kickoff returner. It should be a great completion for the starting secondary positions with the returners, transfers and high school signees.

How Many Quarterbacks Can One Team Sustain?
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
While I agree that keeping 4-5 QBs on the roster is more challenging with the transfer portal, I disagree that it can’t be done. It’s all about expectations. Most 5-star QB recruits are going to expect to start within the first year or two, and if that doesn’t happen they will transfer to a school where they believe it’s possible. On the other hand a 3 or 4 star recruit may be willing to wait a bit longer to start. Perhaps they are more of a developmental project or perhaps they grew up an Oregon Ducks fan. They also probably won’t have as many opportunities in the transfer portal, particularly at top 25 programs, since they don’t have the name recognition as a former 5-star. IMHO, Oregon should look to add two 3-4 star QBs EVERY class. If they don’t develop then look for a proven transfer QB in the portal to fill the gap. For the upcoming season, it looks like we’ll have 3 scholarship QBs, if TT does not transfer out in the spring. Perhaps the coaches should look to add a lower rated player or preferred walk on to get to 4 QBs, in case of emergency? -
Quaaack! OG Junior Angilau is a Duck--A HUGE Target

Wow. Great news is everywhere on this board tonight. Another HUGE pickup. Hopefully he can be fully healthy before fall camp because this dude can play! -
Breaking! 5-Star Matayo Uiagalelei to Become a Duck?
OregonDucks replied to lownslowav8r's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If true, this is a HUGE pickup. If I’m cutting checks for a NIL collective the largest ones would be for defensive lineman and proven transfer QBs. LOL. It would be a huge bonus to steal another top DE from USC. Wonder what this means for DJ? -
Breaking! Baylor QB Verbal to Flip to Oregon!
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If true, it’s a heck of a pick up. I feel for Baylor. Novosad has a VERY quick release, seems to make good decisions/protect the ball and throws a beautiful deep ball. Decent size and mobility. I wonder where Novosad ranked on Will Steins’ board. Was he recruiting him at UTEP? -
I’m flabbergasted that Mario is still able to recruit at such a high level. How long does it take before recruits and families realize that he is not a good coach and is full of hot air? Just look at the regression of the offense and Miami’s rising QB this year. I don’t know how he would ever find a reputable, experienced OC or DC with other options. The word has to be out among assistant coaches.

Who Fills Out Oregon's QB Room Behind Bo Nix in 2023?
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
How many college or NFL teams are prepared to lose their starting QB and not miss a beat? QB is the most important position in sports and, with the transfer portal, a capable backup is unlikely to stick around. Some of Oregon’s most successful seasons came to an abrupt halt when the QB was injured (I still have nightmares of Dennis Dixon going down because of what could have been). Hopefully Oregon’s defense improves significantly so that we don’t have to rely on our offense scoring 40+ points a game. One of the reasons the Niners are winning despite being on their 3rd QB this year is they have the best defense in the NFL. Therefore, their QB doesn’t need to do too much. -
Who Fills Out Oregon's QB Room Behind Bo Nix in 2023?
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not all assistant coaches drop the ball. Dan Lanning did a phenomenal job transitioning while helping Georgia win a national championship. Jeff Tedford did a terrific job preparing the Ducks for the Fiesta Bowl in Joey Harrington’s last year. It really depends on the person and a coach has to decide whether that coach’s heart is in it and he will give his current team his all. Dan having been there should be able to evaluate. If not, you wish them best at their new school (like he did with Dillingham). -
Oregon Will Be Just Fine Without Dante Moore
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Some people just need more time to develop. TT has talent, otherwise he wouldn’t have been a 5 star recruit and on the roster of a top P5 program. Perhaps Will Stein, a former P5 college QB himself, will find a way to develop TT and get the most out of his abilities. I have been critical of TT’s play but respect that he is willing to stick around, get better and compete, especially in the era of the transfer portal. I’m rooting for the young man. -
Who Fills Out Oregon's QB Room Behind Bo Nix in 2023?
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would be excited about any of those options but believe that Hudson Card would be the most ready to step on the field in 2024. Unfortunately, although he has a good relationship with Stein, I think it’s likely that he transfers to a P5 school closer to home, where he can compete for QB #1 right away. It sounds like he has some great options (e.g., Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State), even Norte Dame has been mentioned as a potential landing spot. The Ducks will be fine. I’d like us to at least sign a prep QB (3 or 4 star), given our lack of depth on the roster. They can go hard after a transfer next year, if they don’t bring in an upperclassman this year, to compete for the starting job. -
It's Official - Dante Moore Flipped to UCLA
OregonDucks replied to HawaiiDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If Moore had such a close relationship with Dillingham, why didn’t he consider or visit ASU? -
It's Official - Dante Moore Flipped to UCLA
OregonDucks replied to HawaiiDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I’m not upset at all with the Moore flip and wish him luck. Having Bo Nix back is much better for next year’s possibilities (e.g., conference championship, playoffs, Heisman). I hope we can sign a transfer QB this year and then we can recruit one or two QBs in next year’s class (preferably one who doesn’t expect to start as a freshman or is looking for a huge NIL deal). There are much more important positions to recruit RIGHT NOW. The future is NOW.
