Despite that, it appears that Oregon coaches and players are still working hard to try and get Bryant into the mix, according to Greg Biggens.

“Junior Adams (WR coach) wants Gary really bad,” Bryant said. “Bo Nix has been reaching out all the time, recruiting Gary and telling him how much they need him.

“They have some good receivers already there but they said they don’t really have a guy like Gary who can do what he does and return punts and kicks as well.”

Bryant had a great season in 2021, scoring 7 touchdowns in total, but the increased competition in 2022 with Jordan Addison and Brenden Rice in the picture caused his target share to drop. Now he’s looking for a new team to play for.

Might that be the Ducks? They will get a chance to try and convince him of that next week.

It looks like the Ducks aren’t done trying to add to the WR depth chart this offseason.

    Signee Spotlight: OL Gernorris Wilson

Oregon adds some depth up front with a state champion from the Sunshine State. In today's signee spotlight we're taking a look at a signee along the offensive trenches. Sunshine state native Gernorris Wilson from Lakeland, FL joins an offensive powerhouse in Oregon's 2023 recruiting class.

VITALS Height/Weight: 6’5”/285 pounds -Hometown: Lakeland, FL -High School: Lakeland School -Status: Enrolled

    EVALUATION

One thing that coaches love to see on tape is their player’s giving 110% each play and that's exactly what Wilson did for his team. Being 6-foot-5, 285 pounds comes with a huge advantage that he utilizes very well.

From the initial contact on the defender to driving him into the ground 15 yards down the field, Wilson displays that elite offensive lineman talent all through his film. Even if a defender runs at him full speed it's like hitting a brick wall.

His run blocking is scary good, specifically how fast he gets to his blocking assignment and even sneaks an additional block in from time to time. He plays with good leverage as the low man on his blocks, allowing him to easily drive through his opponent. Pass blocking is just as good at his guard position. If no one comes his way his head is moving everywhere to find someone free to defend his quarterback.

At this time Clark is visiting  schools, but I like what he said about Oregon:

Clark also visited Oregon in January and will return for the Ducks spring game on April 22.

“I loved it out there,” Clark said. “It was a great environment and all of the coaches are great all-around people. Coach Lanning will lead that team in a great direction along with the whole coaching staff. Most importantly the coaches care about the actual individual more than the football player and that’s a huge thing for me.”

Decide for yourself if you think the Pac-12 has been wise to be quiet and guarded over the last six months. There’s some logic in it. Former Fox Sports Networks president Bob Thompson said earlier this week, “Give the Pac-12 credit; there haven’t been any leaks. They’ve kept things very tight.”

That’s probably appreciated by the Pac-12’s negotiating partners. Beyond that, though, I think it’s been a misfire by the conference to allow so many other parties tell the conference’s story and muddy up the public conversation.

    “Imminent demise”?

    “Pac-12 teetering”?

The conference presidents and chancellors don’t think so. Multiple athletic directors wave off the negativity as noise, too. And Kliavkoff hasn’t projected any of that, especially not on Thursday, or even Wednesday, when he sat in the same chair at the arena inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Still, that’s the narrative being peddled by the spin doctors and their puppets. It’s hurt the brand. It’s damaged public confidence. The Pac-12 needs something positive to talk about next week when the men’s basketball tournament starts. Not a brief statement of unity or administrators/executives speaking anonymously, but some bonafide news.

There has been a tsunami-like build up on the media rights front over the last six months. Apple or Amazon? ESPN, too? Expansion? There’s been constant public discussion and daily anticipation. We’re all waiting for Christmas morning, but we keep waking up in March.

I get it. The Pac-12’s strategy has remained consistent. It has refused to engage in the public misinformation battle, choosing instead to focus its energy on getting the best possible media rights deal done — we hope.

It’s an intentional, philosophical decision. One that may be driven by the Pac-12’s CEO Group more than Kliavkoff’s team at headquarters.

Fans in the Pac-12 need some news soon. Recruits want to know what’s going on. Coaches are restless and wondering, too. Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith told me this week that he knows the media rights negotiations are out of his control, but he’s tracking developments like the rest of us. Meanwhile boosters at SMU, San Diego State and some other places have watched and waited.

We’re all sort of just… waiting.

The sports network has held conversations with major sports leagues and media partners about launching a feature on ESPN.com and its free ESPN app that will link users directly to where a live sporting event is streaming, according to people familiar with the matter.

Disney’s ESPN wants to be the hub for all live sports streaming — even for its competition.

That could include national or global streaming services, such as Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video, or a regional sports service such as Sinclair’sBally Sports+ or Madison Square Garden Entertainment’s MSG+.

Oregon made a trip to Oklahoma to see Sims during the January contact period, and Sims plans on returning the favor with a trip to Eugene on April 21.

"They came down here to see me before the dead period," he said. "I'm gonna get up there on April 21 and hit Oregon."

The 2024 recruiting cycle is starting to heat up, and the Oregon Ducks are at the center of the action, as per usual.

With the recruiting dead period now behind us, we are expecting to see a number of visits from recruits to Eugene over the next several weeks as spring ball gets underway. We most recently got word that 5-star EDGE Dylan Stewart will be in town at the end of April, coming to Eugene for Oregon’s annual spring game.

Class of 2027 quarterback Trent Seaborn started as a varsity quarterback while still in middle school

Trent Seaborn is only an eighth grader at Thompson Middle School (Alabama), but his high school football resume is already the stuff of legend.

Last fall, the 6-foot, 178-pound signal-caller played up at the high school level, won the starting job on varsity and led Thompson High School to an Alabama class 7A state championship, throwing for 201 yards and five touchdowns in the title game.

On Wednesday, the dynamic middle schooler picked up a scholarship offer from the Oregon Ducks — and immediately expressed both excitement about the rich quarterback tradition of the program and an eagerness to visit Eugene.

Dan Lanning's debut recruiting class factored in to some of Oregon's on field success in 2022. But while a handful of players carved out roles, the majority of the 17-player 2022 signing class did not.

Of the 17 freshmen who enrolled last year, four appeared in enough games to avoid redshirt, led by offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr, who saw action in all 13 games. Oregon fans have become somewhat familiar with that foursome. The 13 redshirts who remain on the roster? Not so much. In this series, we'll do our best to bring you up to speed with them.

Today, we begin the series with linebacker Devon Jackson.

One of the more secretive recruitments in the transfer portal involves former USC wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. The 5-foot-11, 164-pounder announced his intent to transfer on January 9 and has yet to reveal many details about a future destination.

Highly coveted WR Transfer @Gary_Bryant01 will visit Oregon in March according to @Scott_Schrader ahead of a decision by the end of the month.  Visiting Oregon (3/16) and Texas A&M (3/24) before announcing transfer destination at the end of March.

Dylan Raiola is the top-ranked quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class and while his visit to Nebraska to see family and catch a basketball game made headlines over the weekend, one team people are sleeping on too much is Oregon football.

However, according to what Raiola told Chad Simmons of On3.com, he’s not ready to decide anytime soon and it sounds like Oregon football will get a visit. Raiola told Simmons he will visit Georgia, and Nebraska and also that he “definitely” wants to visit Oregon.

    Don’t count out Oregon football

The Ducks are a recruiting force on the West Coast, so it’s not surprising that a recruit from Arizona would consider them. Dan Lanning has also shown he’s ruthless on the trail and more than capable of winning a contested recruitment. After all, Oregon football did land Dante Moore before he re-opened things and went to UCLA.

All Oregon football did was flip four-star Austin Novosad from Baylor on national signing day, so if the Ducks get Raiola up to Eugene, with the facilities and Nike, they will be a serious threat.
