EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 2 Share Posted August 6 On Oregon's entire roster Feldman couldn't find a second top 100 freak athlete? No Sadiq, Conerly or Stewart? Did Devon Jackson suddenly get weaker and slower? Good thing it is a team game.
criticalduck No. 3 Share Posted August 6 I would rather that they found no "Freaks" on OBD team...that could be used as fuel to fire up the entire team.
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 4 Share Posted August 6 I did not realize that Burch is that tall, and now 295 lbs.? As a defensive end--he has almost grown to defensive tackle size. It is apparent that he is not an edge-rusher any more, but more of the strong-side DE crucial on run-support. He was the best at defending the edge of anyone last year. He gives us a good rotation option, with moving him inside on extended passing downs when they are giving Caldwell or Harmon a break, and then have Mateo Ugo. on one side, and Teitum on the other! 3 Mr. FishDuck
Solar No. 5 Share Posted August 6 (edited) His most impressive plays have been getting to the ball carrier and bringing them down moreso than rushing the QB successfully. I'd be just fine with them giving him more of an inside bias and let other speedsters come off the edge to get to the QB. Jon Joseph Moderator No. 6 Share Posted August 6 Thanks for posting Feldman's Freaks. Has Ducks Wire Zach Neel done it again? The last player on the post-photo-wise is Preseason AA Michigan TE Colson Loveland. TE Marlin Klein is from Cologne, Germany, and has 1 catch in his career. Klein may be a freak but a freak who cannot get open and/or has hands of Teflon is a Geek and not much of a Freak.
Ktmguy2018 No. 7 Share Posted August 6 Last month I took a flight from PDX to Las Vegas and Mr. Burch was on that flight. Reading the height/weight numbers does not due this man justice. I was absolutely incredified at how big this guy is. To know that a man that size can move like he does is amazing. I talked very briefly with him and his demeanor, politeness, and attitude are intangibles that will make him a very successful person both on and off the field. Lanning has said it many times that he wants good players on the field who are good people off the field. Mr. Burch epitomizes that. 2 1
Haywarduck Moderator No. 8 Share Posted August 6 I have always liked the things in players that aren't always measurable. Who gets the most NIL money, who was the highest rated high school player, who got #1 on his jersey and who is number one preseason don't matter as much once the whistle blows. It is who is playing the smartest between whistles, and after. It is who is playing 110% all the way through the play. It is who is jacking every player on the field up to play his best. Those are the things that add up to a special season. Freaks and too many measurables are like empty calories. Too many of these and you just get fat. We need meat, and potatoes out of the field playing hard and smart. Can't wait until that first whistle so I can look beyond this freak, preseason, recruiting show that has been going on too long!
