UCLA Football: Bruins Utilizing New Rose Bowl Section to Intimidate Opponents WWW.SI.COM The 2024 season marks a year of change for the UCLA Bruins with a new head coach in DeShaun Foster, a new offensive... The only question is how much noice can a hundred students make? Or, am I being too optomistic?

David Marsh No. 3 Share Posted August 18 It might make teams feel more comfortable. Most teams are used to noise all over the stadium. So maybe this just rounds out the volume. Also... Should UCLA even be selling student tickets? Shouldn't they just be giving them away? And maybe not just give them away to students but just start giving them away to anyone they are in the street. They still probably won't pack the stadium but maybe it won't be so awkward when the camera pans up.

UCLA now has a president, Julio Frenk, who was the U of Miami President before taking the UCLA job. Bloch never attended a UCLA football game or a basketball game. Frenk was a supporter of the U's athletic programs and its NIL collective. One of the reasons the SEC is dominant in football and many other sports is that the support of athletic programs comes from the top down. And it works. From 2007-2022, Alabama's enrollment increased by 51% and the endowment tripled. Out-of-state applications increased by 79%; these students pay the full out-of-state tuition. Frenk will not improve UCLA's No. 1 public university academic ranking, so why not pay more attention to athletics?
Drake Moderator No. 5 Share Posted August 18 Safe standing zones? Does that mean they will have security guards protecting obnoxious students from the players?
EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 6 Share Posted August 18 The term 'safe standing areas' says it all. Chirping from the handful of UCLA students draws a brief turnaround and baleful glare from a couple of Duck players.. After a collective entitled gasp from the students, the chant begins: "2,4,6,8 We'll sue if you retaliate" Followed by feverish texting and social media posting about the threatening brutality of the Oregon football team. An attempt at a tent city on the 50 yardline takes two days and a court injunction to resolve. Ducks win by forfeit after leading 35-0.
GODUCKS15 No. 7 Share Posted August 18 How much energy will there be when their teams down by 20 pts? UCLA's not even predicted to be in the top 10 in the conference. Might be fun for them for the 1st qtr.
DanLduck No. 8 Share Posted August 18 Great idea. What could possibly go wrong? Mixing crazed students and alcohol and putting them directly behind visiting teams! This lasts until someone(s) get hurt. Maybe by the 3rd game? The most vocal crazy types will want to be here. And we've all seen how well campus police control crazies! Well, bring it on. We Ducks are tough. Maybe Lagarrette Blount can head up security.
