Jon Joseph Moderator No. 2 Share Posted October 27 Thanks, Jordan. Very nice wrap up of an OBD beat down. Michigan fought hard last night, overcame its woeful O and defeated Rival No. 2 Michigan State. Saturday is not That Team Down South but it is a Super Bowl like game for the Wolverines; a chance to redeem vs OBD. We're Still No. 1 and I cop to caring. The Big House will be rockin'. Two back up QBs had B1G games yeaterday. Penn State's Beau Pribula brought PSU back on the road in front of a raucous crowd in Mad City to set up next Saturday's Big Noon game vs Ohio State in Happy Valley. Indiana's Tayven Jackson did a fine job of leading Indiana to victory over UWho, the Hoosiers 8th win coming on Lee Corso Day in Bloomington. second time in its history Indy has won eight in a row. This is the second time since 1884 that the 'Losingist Team' in CFB has won eight in a row. Reluctantly, I give credit where due to Jedd Fisch. Before Saturday, UWho had outgained every opponent it had played but with atrocious Red Zone results. Before Saturday, UWho was ranked as the No. 1 tackling team in the country. Darn good effort when considering the Huskies have an almost entirely new coaching staff and two returning starters. The last regular season game for OBD will not be a lay up. Two of the B1GGEST conference games of the year will be contested next Saturday in the Midwest. James Franklin had to be the most relieved B1G coach to see the conference drop divisions but I imagine he'd rather have drawn Michigan this season and not Ohio State. Was Brutus looking ahead? Heck of bounce back by Nebraska after last week's blow out in Bloomington. There was D in Columbus but where did the O go? OBD opened at -16; O/U 48.5. When the B1G 2024 schedule was released did any of us Ducks Fanatics think Puddles would fly into Ann Arbor as a two TD + favorite? GO DUCKS! WASTE THE WOLVERINES! 1 1 1
Notalot No. 3 Share Posted October 27 (edited) The wolverines this year are suffering, much like some Oregon deer, with “Chronic Wasting Disease”. Go Ducks. Show no mercy in Ann Arbor. Edited October 27 by Notalot 1 2
HappyToBeADuck No. 4 Share Posted October 27 Jordan, the Ducks truly pounded the Illini throught out this game. Especially in the first half.... They suffered at least 4 injuries on their defensive side of the ball. The Duck running backs and tight ends delivered punishing hits on snyone trying to tackle them. Especially Noah W. Outstanding performance Noah........ Saturday brought a number of pleasant events for this ancient Duck Gray Beard..... Udub being handled by the Hoosiers! The rodents total ineptness and humiliation at the hands of Cal.... A complete game dominance by the Ducks D, 2 weeks in a row. WOW... A no let down by OBD's offense in the first half against Illinois. ( Not sure what happened to the Duck offense in the 2nd half.) Well done Ducks. It all means nothing because its a brand new season in Ann Arbor. Go Ducks....beat the Wolverines. 1 2 1
Haywarduck Moderator No. 5 Share Posted October 27 I would add Novosad and Riggs looked good in mop up duty. Watching Riggs bounce around and run with energy shows the depth of the RB room. Novosad almost looks like Justin back there without the gun, I suppose few have a rifle like Herbert. The poise and skill by the back-ups give me even more hope for the magical season to extend, no matter what comes up. I suppose the question is what is the true depth chart? Are Novosad and Riggs, 8.8 ypc!, above those on the chart I read? They both looked good and ready to compete when needed. The last comment is how damaging a penalty can be. Without the penalty on Caldwell (Harmon), it is a change of possession. With the penalty the possession became the Illini's only TD. I hope this is a lesson learned by all! 1 1
Smith72 Moderator No. 6 Share Posted October 27 "...The last comment is how damaging a penalty can be. Without the penalty on Caldwell, it is a change of possession..." Caldwell is #90. Harmon is #55. Penalty was on Harmon. I give Harmon a pass on the penalty. He was just starting his motion to lift and throw the guy down when the whistle blew. Bad timing, but in the heat of the moment I understand. 1
The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 7 Share Posted October 27 Great article and special bonus points for the fuskie burns! I posted earlier about this being a complete game by a complete team. This may have been one of the most complete games I've ever seen the Ducks play against a top twenty team. This one was never in doubt from the opening drive. It seemed like on every offensive and defensive play it would be a Duck that initiated contact and drove the opponent backwards and that includes the running backs. Even Tez lowered the shoulder and delivered the boom at the goal line on that incredible opening TD catch. The Big Ten should be very concerned with what they let in the door. Lanning in year three has assembled a team that looks and acts like an SEC super power on a mission. You know when the season started, Michigan had this game circled and licking their chops. Now, they're searching for the white out and just hoping to survive injury free. This morning on their boards, they are already bracing for a twenty point beat down on their home field. Be afraid Big Ten. Be very afraid. 1

Good catch on it being Harmon, but I was about 20 yds away from the play and the whistle had definitely blown. He also had brought him backward about 5 yds., which is why the whistle had blown. If you observe the play you can see almost everyone was disengaged and Harmon basically did a pick up an throw down. That kind of tackle can be penalized even if the whistle hasn't been blown. My take is this is a learning moment, and can't be repeated. The lifting and throwing you describe is actually a penalty. I do agree Harmon is an important player on the team. We can't afford to lose him because he gets a penalty for an illegal tackle. He is also a leader and should be above that type of play IMHO. The big lesson is how one little mistake can lead to 6 points. I am sure Dan will use this as a learning moment, and then 'so what, now what!'
Annie No. 9 Share Posted October 27 On Twitter/X, Geoff Schwartz says, "I think it's clear when we've taken leads the offense scales things way back." It does seem to be the case so far. 1

Nobody who watched the game believes that Illinois held Oregon to a field goal in the 2nd half. Oregon rendered Illinois irrelevant after the first 3 minutes. 1
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 11 Share Posted October 27 Jordan! This was such a fun read, and I am glad that Oregon fans are beginning to realize how good Dan Lanning is at mentally preparing his team. A very physical B1G team with a coach who has a background in physical B1G teams was out-physicaled by OBD. 1 1 Mr. FishDuck
HappyToBeADuck No. 12 Share Posted October 27 As we see DL bring his recruits and portal talent into Eugene, for this fan, I see an SEC type defense developing right before my eyes. With the addition of Harmon and Caldwell at the DL position OBD's got SEC big. SEC size and speed at linebacker and edge. And the backend contests balls and have rarely been beat. Couple that with a PAC12 offense with nasty O line, NFL talent at the skill positions, DG and 2 things pop in my feeble mind: 1. The BIG is not built, at this moment, to handle OBD's on either side of the ball. Discaimer: The Ducks must play smart, clean, error free ball. 2. Next time we play Georgia, Kirby won''t be able to walk off the field and claim that DL knows Georgia has better players No disrespect to Kirby and our Awesome Bull Dawg fans. That thrashing in Georgia is still fresh in DL's mind. Hope we meet at some point in this years CFP. Long ways to go, so let's handle Michigan this Saturday. FYI: When was the last time a BIG team beat tOSU and Michigan in the same regular season? Don't know but its within OBD's grasp. GO DUCKS. 1 1
