Oregon Received a B1G Welcome in Wisconsin

Recommended Posts

Every former Pac-12 team has had its B1G football awakening this season. USC was pounded by Michigan and Minnesota this year. Neither was a high-scoring affair, though higher scoring than Oregon and Wisconsin. Washington lost to Rutgers in a close game in its first conference road trip, then managed to edge out Michigan at home in a slug-fest before getting ...

Once again Mr. Marsh sheds light on our Ducks like no other. This was the BIG game many were worried about. Could the Ducks grind out a win and have the defense play the pivotal role?

The game allowed us to see the chaos defense overshadow the lights out offense Oregon is known for.

The question going forward is can we have both the chaos defense and the high scoring offense in the coming games? It will take both, along with a cleaner execution of the game plan.

It is nice to know we have the elite defense so many of us have hungered for since the gang green days. A top ten defense is a dream come true, right?

We still need that high scoring offense to take us to the finish line. Seeing our offense drop out of the top 20 just seems wrong.

The game against the dawgs is the perfect moment to rekindle the offensive firepower that is lined up on every down this year. The players are there, we need to see the execution and play calling to get us back to 30, 40 or more points against the dawgs.

We only win the big games coming up playing Oregon football, not BIG football.

This is right. Chip transformed how the game is played everywhere, now Lanning is steps ahead of the B1G. Oregon was dealt challenges no other team faced all season and triumphed over all of them. Not with the high scoring everybody was expecting but with 3-D chess coaching moves and a dominating defense.

But teams will be making a fatal mistake if they think the Ducks offense won't take off.

Tez showed how valuable he is by not playing. He'll be back. The playbook will be opened up, James and Whittington, after finally getting time to rest and reload, will run with even more fury. Oh. and the defense. It's just gotten better and better as the season has gone on. Ohio State didn't have to deal with Burch.

Now the Ducks just need to officially welcome the Huskies to the B1G.

It also feels like Lanning takes the foot off the gas big time in the second half. If our offense was allowed to oporates or could operate like it does in the first half we would be much higher in offense.

If we get into a situation where we need to score more than 40 to win a game I think the Ducks can do it... they just haven't been forced into that situation because of the defense and Lanning would rather shorten a game with a 21+ point lead rather than keep putting up points.

I am still amazed by the stat of how Wisconsin did not make a single first down in the fourth quarter...which is when it matters most!

UW played a good game especially in the first 2.5 quarters. The Ducks ground them down toward the end of the game.

Our Ducks offense did not “pop” in the game. It was pedestrian play with small glitches, poor timing, penalties, drops, off-target passes, et. al.

The Ducks got the job done with the win. I think we will emerge from the bye with new energy, healthier players, the starters who have been hurt, and ready to finish the mission.

It does.  But the good thing is it doesn't matter as long as there are W's and no L's.

Another good thing is the defense did travel.

 Thanks, DM. Another terrific take.

With very few exceptions, every team on its way to a title will have one anomalous game, at least, pop up. In the case of the Wisconsin game, DM well noted the scheduling circumstances OBD was dealing with, the loss of a key player, Tez, and an off-game by Gabe. The 1st pick in the Red Zone is a TD instead and would the game have been all that close?

For Ohio State, the game came against Nebraska with the Buckeyes coming off an Off Week and looking ahead to Penn State.

Whether the Michigan game was an anomaly for Indiana remains to be seen. Michigan brought the best D the Hoosiers have played to Bloomington and it showed.

Minnesota was a roll before no-showing at Rutgers.

Then there's USC and Nebraska. 😒

When firing on all cylinders, OBD has dictated the style of play to B1G teams this season. After a much-needed oil change, I hope we see the same on 11/30 and 12/7 and all the way to a Natty on 1/20/25. 😍

PUNISH THE PUPPIES!
