Level the playing field and Lanning would be back at William Jewell college where he started. Dude is average as it gets as a coach. With Those Uniforms, I Thought It Was the Raiders. Then I realized that the team payroll was way too HIGH to be an be an NFL team. Fisch is on track to turn this thing around no later than 2026, IMHO. I don't think we are that far away, I think the offensive line needs to be revamped but once that happens team will be potent on offense and that will help out defensively. Reality We are not in the same universe as the a$$hats from Eugene. This sucks. Absolutely pathetic. Not even remotely competitive. Absolutely getting rag dolled and embarrassed in all aspects. There's not a single positive to take away from this. Oregon is dominating in every aspect of this game and the score should probably be worse than what it is and probably will be before it's over. Average head coaches -- with below average assistants -- don't go 34-5 in their first three seasons. Oregon is a program that is now on auto pilot and what other programs want to be. Great environment, plug and play QBs, coaching changes don't affect the product much, and NIL money with the best of them. They are where they always dreamed they would get to. While it was miserable weather, I also have exceptionally fond memories as well. Although it took many more years, it was a turning point for our program... pre Uncle Phil. And I could not be more thankful knowing that we will never ever return to that bowl again. Annie No. 10 Share Posted Sunday at 05:08 PM I went to the second Independence Bowl game (1992?). 70's during the day while there (until the last half of the game, when it got cold). Took a cab to see a great Christmas lights display, did the self-guided walk around downtown Shreveport and got to go in to see a just-renovated theater, because we were peeking in the doorway and the Pape's saw us in our Duck gear and invited us inside for a tour as they had something to do with something in regard to the renovations, had a lot of great seafood, and just in general had a good time (except the Ducks blew a first-half 19-0 lead).
