Charles Fischer Administrator No. 2 Share Posted December 8 A great read, as always Jordan. I think Coach Lanning said it well in post-game interviews, when he stated that there have been games where the defense saved the day, while this time it was the offense that bailed out the other side of the ball. I have a new-found respect for Penn State, as I never would have guessed they would run through us as well as they did. I was also impressed with Penn State's team speed on defense, as they have an elite group of athletes that deserve to be in the Top-5 of the nation. While the team now knows what they must work on, the good news is that they have three weeks to do so! 1 Mr. FishDuck
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 3 Share Posted December 8 ROSES! Thanks, Jordan for a great recap of an exciting, back-and-forth ball game. Tez was a most deserving MVP and Gabe was calm in a shootout storm. PENN STATE, not Texas, deserves the fifth seed. ASU, not Boise State, deserves a first-round bye. SMU, not Bama, should be in. PSU and OSU deserve home games; Notre Dame, 3-1 vs the G5, does not. Heck of a format. 3 loss Clemson gets a bye with two home losses including a bad home loss to unranked Louisville, a home loss to SEC South Carolina, and a Mercedes Benz beat down from SEC champ Georgia. It's High Noon (Right Coast) for the Committee in Grapevine today. These experts are supposed to start fresh every week. Yet, Committee Chair Michigan AD Warde Manuel said that teams that did not play yesterday would not be moved. Will SMU fans in Dallas picket the pickers? CFB has changed. It's on to Pasadena and I don't recall seeing a Rose anywhere last evening. What an exciting game. Hats off to Penn State for competing to the end and to OBD for staying the course. Go Ducks. 30Duck Moderator No. 4 Share Posted December 8 Great work, Jordan, and I too have to congratulate Penn State, I didn't see this game coming from them, especially the way it started. But the Ducks never gave up the lead, Penn State was grasping the whole game. Gabriel pounced on the fumble, Allar threw to picks, one of them basically a pick-6, you're not beating No.1 doing that. 1

Haywarduck No. 6 Share Posted December 8 Warning negative post, read at your own risk. Great lesson on big game momentum and scoring. Your momentum is short lived, and just about any lead isn't big enough. The Ducks owned PSU early in the game and it almost looked like the last time we played a PSU for a little while, at 14-3. That momentum turned against us as the elite PSU wasn't done yet. The Ducks pounded the Nits again and built a 28-10 lead, but that momentum was fleeting once again. This PSU came back to within 4, at 28-24. Oregon almost seemed like they needed that wakeup call about playing against a team that won't give up. A multi score lead at the end of the game is different than that type of lead at any other point in the game. Both the offense and the defense have to keep playing like Lanning preaches, FEBU. Maybe FEBU should stand for Forget Everything But Us, because the score seemed to be something the team reacts too. Our recent historical third quarter lull might be blamed on this mentality? This Oregon team, as talented as it is, doesn't have that put your foot on their throat and finish them off mentality, yet. This just might come back to bite this years team. When I look at any weakness to this team, this is the one that worries me. Sorry for being the downer, we are 13-0 I know, but this team is headed toward uncharted waters. We can't keep letting teams back in the game or that game might get away. I agree, we outgunned the nits, but if we come up with too many blanks going forward that gunfight might not end well. Lets go into the rest of the games with our bullets ready to fire every time, not matter what the score, or time of the game.
Mike West No. 7 Share Posted December 8 One of the things all the experts and pundits talk about when it comes to big games and championship games: every mistake is magnified, every flaw is exposed. Ohio State and Penn State displayed what OBD will look like against the playoff field. Ironically, some of the mediocre teams presented a blueprint for how to defend OBD, but both elite teams couldn’t pull that off. It is correct to be concerned with the lulls we see from Our Beloved Ducks. I also say it is difficult to be perfect. The lulls we saw last night show it is near impossible to be perfect. Not to mention OBD still faced elite defenses with talent equal to the number one team in the nation. Earlier in the year, I argued OBD need to lose a game in order to reboot. It’s tough for any elite team to win 17 straight over the course of the same season. Well, Dan Lanning’s idea wasn’t "sometimes you have to lose in order to win ", it was "you just need to do everything in order to win". I believe that emerged last night. Penn State wouldn’t fold, and OBD rose to the moment. I believe that stemmed from the will to win instead of succumbing to the moment. Those losses to the Fuskies last year had an impact on the mindset of this year’s team. There were many moments last night where I was totally livid because my pet peeves were violated last night. The things I believe in were ‘ignored’ (lol). I don’t run a program, and I see flaws in teams all the time. I have to give Lanning’s staff credit. They work to make those flaws meaningless. Instead, they focus on performance in the moment. This team is dialed into one play at a time, and executing during that specific play. Win the Day has turned into Win the Play. I am extremely proud of this team. They give it everything they’ve got. That’s all a fan can ask for-or at least all I can ask for. 1
David Marsh No. 8 Share Posted December 8 Great teams WIN! Against Boise State we had our special teams win us the game with 14 points, excluding the kicking game that won the game. Against Wisconsin it was the defense. Against PSU we won the shootout. We won! I'm not too worried about the defense. They'll watch the film and sort it out. PSU does have the best offensive line the Ducks have played all year and two bowling balls called running backs.

They gave the No.1 team in the country their best shot, it wasn't enough. Not giving up the lead is huge. The momentum was swinging, but OBD never let PSU take it. They didn't step on PSU's neck, but PSU never breathed easy. No satisfaction for Penn State.

It's a collection of really special and talented players, who seem to love playing with and for one another, led by some really good, vocal upper classmen leaders (DG, Tez, T-Ferg, Connerly, Bassa, Burch, Harmon, Boucher, Mohammad, et al) and coaches. Quarterback is the most important position in football. Oregon has by far the best QB in college football this season. DG is a mature leader and has ice in his veins in clutch moments, when the game is on the line (e.g., conversions to T-Ferg on 4th down in the Penn State and Wisconsin games, winning drive last season against Texas). If Oregon plays up their standard and stays healthy and hungry, the sky's the limit. I would not bet against the 2024-25 Oregon Football team! The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 11 Share Posted December 8 The two first half three and outs that let Penn St back in the game were started off with 1st down incompletions in our own backfield. There was also another one in the second half but we recovered from that. If Oregon doesn't beat Oregon, I don't think anybody else will.
