Then Oregon played PSU in Indianapolis, IN. Some facts: - 2,265 miles (31 hour drive): PDX to Lucas Oil Stadium - 498 miles (7 hour drive): PSU to Lucas Oil Stadium Made me sick seeing that stadium nearly full with PSU fans; it was a home game for PSU. How about picking a venue equidistant from the two teams. David Marsh No. 2 Share Posted December 8 But... All those PSU fans left sad. And loved that the most. When the trophy ceremony started it was clear how few Duck fans made it to the game. The stadium was almost empty. I suspect the Rose Bowl will have a whole lot more green than this game. Also... mikethehiker No. 7 Share Posted December 9 Who owns the decision for the matchup locations? My guess is the bowl owns the decision to maximize their revenue. If Oregon had any control of the matter as a higher seed, I would request the Orange Bowl over Cotton Bowl just to ensure Texas didn't get a home game (if favorites win out). Solar No. 9 Share Posted December 9 We are a very good team, but I am not sure we are dominant enough to keep surviving away games at top 7 ranked teams. Oregon has a significant advantage with the Rose Bowl being on the West Coast and our fans having 3 weeks to make the arrangements, vs a back east team having one week against existing holiday plans. I do get it, but recruiting is also tough, but we deal with it, actually excel at it! I have a feeling Lanning knows how to turn this to our advantage. I mean we don't have a qb next season, our O-line is gone, the D-line needs beef, nothing is a barrier or something to whine about, Lanning takes care of it. I sure would call them out further too by saying the eSECpn never leaves the South till the Post Season. Notice how Bama’s AD starting threatening to schedule fewer P4 OOC games? As if their traveling less than 800 miles a game wasn't an advantage for them. There’s a reason Georgia waited until they were a powerhouse before they scheduled OBD. Teams in the SEC won’t dare risk their vaunted reputation by risking a loss to a "lesser" conference. Not to mention they had to do everything they could to take down Pete Carroll’s USC juggernaut using the NCAA (because they knew damn well they weren’t going to on the field). I hope Penn State learned some lessons last week. Namely they can pass the ball on anybody if they really put their minds to it. They are actually physical enough to handle Georgia. I wouldn’t mind a rematch in Atlanta. B1G on B1G two years in a row. That would be lovely. Would be even better if Indiana schemed their way into troubling both Notre Dame and Georgia. It's one thing traveling to one bowl game over the holidays. It's quite another to travel to 3-4 games all residing in the heart of SEC and traditional Big12 country. If the games at college football home fields are bonkers good there is a chance they restructure the playoff to have more home games for top seeds. Kinda doubt it to a degree as these bowls are going to pay out the nose to get playoff games but once the bowl sites contracts are up then who knows. Dan can play Texas in Miami if he so desires but it's, obviously, farther from Eugene. And knowing Dan, perhaps he'll say bring it on in Jerry's World. He does have a QB who has hooked the Horns. So long as the B1G has 4 teams on the Left Coast, the majority of conference champ games, if they continue to be played will be played in the East. So long as bowls are part of the playoff, the majority of games will be played in Dixie. This season, it's 5-2 with the No. 1 seed and a G5 team getting to play in the West. Does Petitti care? 14 trumps 4. That's what OBD signed up for. Perfect payback? Beat Georgia in the same stadium where Danno and OBD were embarrassed in Dan's opening game. I'm hoping the CFB Powers-That-Be kiss the bowls goodbye and follow the NFL 14-team PO model.
