He will be missed if he gets it.

A great recruiter.

The Lanning Tree branches are expanding, and he's 38.

I hope he waits for a better offer but, if not, I wish him luck! I believe in his ability to coach.

Personally I hope he takes his time and waits it out for a better opportunity. He's been a decent RB coach so far but also his family connection to the Duncanville HS staff in Texas is a huge advantage.

It's like having your dad as the HC at Mater Dei in Cali, a big advantage in recruiting. I'm not sure Dakorian Moore comes to Oregon if that weren't the case.

Amen.  He is directly responsible for recruiting two the Rivals 5-Stars to the Ducks this year.  Not easily replaceable...

Mr. FishDuck

No offense but Sam Houston? Stay a year or two more and he could take a shot at a FBC HC job where his recruiting could really pay off.

Learning how one of the best HCs dose it for two or three years then take the better job with more up side. Plus the Ducks get some stability.

It looks like this is what Dan Lanning did. When he took a HC job, it was for keeps. No more moving around. RS probably would not look at Sam Houston as a destination job.

This is in anticipation of Sam Houston State joining the elite Pac-7, Plus Gonzo, 🤪 and clearing the 8-team: Hey, We're a Real Conference with 8 Football Teams so show us the big media money!

Seriously, all the best to the man if he takes the gig.

Coach Samples has been an incredible recruiter, but even more important is his coaching of the RB room. Although we usually have two backs running in a game, all the backs are running hard and smart when they are playing.

He's a great recruiter and a great coach. His foundation is very solid, and he is still learning. It would be nice to have him for one more year, but SHS is close to family and it's located in East Texas.

Stick around a year, Coach; you won't regret it, or have any second thoughts.

Thanks for everything you have brought to the team so far. It has been almost a fair exchange.
